Former Republican Gov. Crist endorses Obama

(CNN) - Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who served as a Republican but is now listed with no party affiliation, endorsed President Barack Obama on Sunday.

"As America prepares to pick our president for the next four years - and as Florida prepares once again to play a decisive role - I'm confident that President Barack Obama is the right leader for our state and the nation," Crist wrote in an op-ed published by the Tampa Bay Times.

O'Malley: GOP is an 'exclusive' party

(CNN) – Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley on Sunday chastised Mitt Romney for his birth certificate joke, adding that the comment was reflective of a wider dilemma the Democratic governor sees within the GOP.

"I think that their party in fact is a party that has a problem ... with being an exclusive party," O'Malley said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Jindal unsure about convention attendance - again

Tampa, Florida (CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal may miss attending and speaking at the Republican National Convention for the second time in a row.

With Tropical Storm Isaac picking up strength as it heads toward the Gulf Coast, including his home state, Jindal's convention speech is in jeopardy – as it was four years ago, when Hurricane Gustav slammed into New Orleans.

RNC's Priebus weighs in on convention, 'birther' issue, Akin

(CNN) – Following the decision to delay the start of GOP convention speeches and events until Tuesday afternoon, the Republican National Committee chairman said Sunday it was "the right thing to do" and confirmed most of Monday's planned events would be folded into the remainder of the week's schedule.

"So far the word is that almost all of it is going to be accommodated into the Tuesday/Wednesday programming and everything is going to move ahead," Reince Priebus said on CNN's "State of the Union."

CNN Poll: Which candidate cares more about you?

Tampa (CNN) – A new national survey illustrates the challenge Mitt Romney faces at the Republican convention as the GOP presidential challenger gets re-introduced to the American public.

While a CNN/ORC International poll indicates the race for the White House between Romney and President Barack Obama is in a dead heat among likely voters, new numbers from the survey released Sunday indicate that as of now, Obama's personal characteristics outshine those of Romney.

New Romney ad continues Medicare barrage on Obama

(CNN) – A television advertisement released by Mitt Romney's presidential campaign on the eve of the GOP convention is the fifth in the past two weeks focused on Medicare, the health care entitlement program for seniors.

President Barack Obama and Romney have sparred over their plans for the program in a series of ads - primarily from the Republican challenger - and on the campaign trail.
