Paul loyalists say 'we can do better'

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - A small but enthusiastic group of Ron Paul supporters Monday gave an early indication of the presence they hope to have at this week's Republican convention.

After the gavel closed a shortened session Monday afternoon, two dozen supporters of the Texas congressman congregated under a large sign on the convention floor reading "We can do better."

While the banner, hung by convention organizers, was a criticism of President Barack Obama, the Paul supporters were tweaking the message.

Standing below it, the crew held their own signs from the former 2012 presidential candidate's failed bid, suggesting a tweak at the GOP establishment: that the party would be better off with Paul than Mitt Romney as its presidential nominee.

One convention official told CNN that organizers are not overly concerned about disruptions from Paul's loyal band, noting that the group, which chanted briefly by the sign, was dwarfed by the thousands of Romney supporters who will fill the hall this week. The RNC announced plans to run a video tribute to Paul at the convention.

Besides, the official asked, what would a political convention be without at least some dissent.

Not at all. Ron Paul has brought an excellent message to this campaign but certainly Republicans have decided that Mitt Romney is the best guy to beat Obama and be a great President. And he will. But he is honoring Ron Paul at this convention and that's great to see. It is obvious that the supporters of Ron Paul and their input are a welcome part of the Republican party.

I the majority of Dr. Paul's ideas. They seem to be a no brainer. Audit the fed, no brainer. Bring troops home, end the drug war, make social security and medicare optional, no brainer. The only people who wouldn't vote for those things are benefiting from the current broken system.

    @Four and The Door

"I expect the main theme of the Democratic Convention will be about tax returns."
Americans must ask themselves why Romney expects us to trust him when he won't trust us with a glimpse of his financial ethics? The people that Bain Capital threw in the street with no pensions trusted Romney. How did that work out?

Romney knows nobody would vote for him if they see the truth – otherwise he'd dearly love to make the Democrats look foolish for the challenge. He's guilty of something really unethical or completely dishonest.

Ron Paul is not a former candidate. His campaign is not a failed campaign. It's not over 'til it's over. Stop slanting the message. Ron Paul would be the GOP nominee with a fair media and debate commission.

"...Paul's loyal band, noting that the group, which chanted briefly by the sign, was dwarfed by the thousands of Romney supporters who will fill the hall this week."

Meaning there weren't thousands there yet.

Face it, the media can claim Romney has the support, but all he has is money. Most of those Romney supporters aren't even enthusiastic about him.

The point is that nobody associated with the GOP can do better.

    Obama saved the country
from another Great Depression, rebuilt GM, reformed healthcare, reformed Wall
Street, doubled the stock market, created 12 straight quarters of GDP growth,
created 29 straight months of private sector job growth, got Bin Laden, got Gaddafi,
and got us out of Iraq.

    And now with the
automatic spending cuts and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2012, Obama
has solved the deficit problem as well.

Obama has done a very good job.

Dr. Ron Paul can do a better job than Romney or Obama
Is the question "who can do a better job of energizing unsophisticated, low-information voters who expect simplistic solutions for complex problems"? If that's the question you may be correct in selecting Paul! However, Romney does well in areas where inbreeding produces the majority of the population and those folks also have little appreciation for the challenges of a global economy. It could be close!

The ideals of Ron Paul are the only hope for this country. The problem is that the general public doesn't want it because it means they'll have to take responsibility for their decisions and have to work hard to get what they have. The media doesn't want him because he doesn't bow to their whims. The government doesn't want him because he wants to cut government down to what it was originally meant to be. It's no surprise that he won't be president... with so many powerful groups against him. Unfortunately he is the only hope. If Obama gets in we're done... in 4 years they'll be reading the korran in public schools and teaching about how its good to be getting paid from the government and how all corporations are evil. If Romney gets in then it will just be more of the same. It's a shame. America had a good run in it's time. The Golden Age of America is over and will be remembered in history books along side such great civilizations as Rome and Greece.

I was very disappointed that Ron Paul was not given a fair shake by media outlets, including CNN. They always had some other darling candidate, none of whom ended up winning anyway even with media help! I think in the end people only resorted to Romney because too few people understood what Ron Paul stood for because no one bothered to cover it; no one even asked him questions at the debates it seemed.

America can not recognize the truth anymore.

We have the real deal in Romney and Ryan.

Obama / Biden will likely win in 2012 but USA will be bankrupt in less than 4 short years.
