
Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Representatives for Americans for Prosperity, the conservative group behind tens of millions in political advertising, said Tuesday their separate issue advocacy arm was sending three buses around the country to rally activists helping the group gather data on persuadable voters.
The buses, making their debut in Tampa during the Republican National Convention, are plastered with statistics on the national economy, making the case that President Barack Obama is pursuing a "failing agenda."

(CNN) - Mitt Romney officially clinched the GOP presidential nomination Tuesday when a majority of delegates to the Republican National Convention supported his candidacy. Romney's formal nomination will take place Thursday.
Fort Collins, Colorado (CNN) – Kicking off a three-state tour of college towns on Tuesday, even as Republicans hold their convention, President Obama told students in Iowa that his rivals are actively trying to keep young voters home come Election Day.
“Last week my opponent's campaign went so far as to write you off as a lost generation. That's you, according to them,” Obama told a crowd that numbered 6,000 at Iowa State, his first of two stops Tuesday. “What they hope is that by telling you these things you'll get discouraged and you'll just stay home this time. But you can't – you can't believe it”
FULL STORY(CNN) - A three-judge federal court panel on Tuesday rejected a Texas redistricting plan and said it was "enacted with discriminatory intent."
"Texas has failed to show that any of the redistricting plans merits preclearance," which federal law requires before substantial changes are made to voting procedures in some states.
"We are also persuaded by the totality of the evidence that the plan was enacted with discriminatory intent," the court found.

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - As the formal nomination of Mitt Romney gets underway at the Republican convention, a new survey indicates that a minority in the GOP would like to see someone else as their party's presidential nominee.
According to a CNN/ORC International poll released Tuesday as the roll call at the convention was about to begin, nearly seven in ten Republicans say that the former Massachusetts governor should be the Republican nominee, with three in ten saying they would rather see their party choose someone else at the top of the ticket.

(CNN) – Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will campaign together in Florida Friday following this week's Republican National Convention, according to a release by the campaign Tuesday.
Romney and Ryan will be officially entered into nomination on Thursday at the Republican Convention in Tampa. On Friday, the newly elected duo will attend a convention farewell victory rally at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida.
The Republican National Convention officially began Monday but was scheduled to immediately recess due to severe weather conditions. Tuesday marked the first full day of activities.
(CNN) - Former longtime U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter said Tuesday he plans to win his fight against cancer.
A source close to his office said Specter was battling for his life early Tuesday after he was recently diagnosed with a "serious form of cancer." He had a "big flare-up" of the disease Monday night, the source said.
