Romney speaks with Louisiana governor as Isaac approaches

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - As Hurricane Isaac approaches landfall, likely in Louisiana, Mitt Romney on Tuesday spoke with Gov. Bobby Jindal, and his campaign is preparing to post a relief donation option on its webpage, a Romney campaign official told CNN.

The GOP presidential candidate, who is expected to achieve his party's presidential nomination this week, has been receiving daily updates on the storm, the official said.

Romney communicated to Jindal that his campaign was "ready to help as much as we can," the official added, noting that resources are in place in the convention host city of Tampa, Florida, should a relief benefit event be organized.

Isaac was initially projected to impact Tampa on Monday, and the Republican National Convention canceled official events that day. Isaac is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Jindal had been scheduled to attend the GOP convention, but announced he would instead stay in Louisiana to monitor and deal with the storm.

When Booby Jindal asks for federal aid, Obama should tell him what the Republican Party has told Obama for four years: NO. Booby refused federal bailout money to help rebuild New Orleans from the Katrina disaster, look at all the vacant lots still left in town. Just ask New Orleans resident James Carville.

    truth hurts

"Louisiana is in the competent hands of Republican Gov. Jindal. Had he been the governor 7 year sago when Katrina hit, all of those people that died would probably be alive today. It's the same competent Republican leadership that we need in DC right now. Romney/Ryan is the only answer to the Obama Jobs Depression."

You do know that the reason Jindal was not governor then was that he lost to Kathleen Blanco, a republican. So yeah, that's the kinda leadership we need in DC.

"Was this before or after Bobby Jindal DEMANDED that President Obama give him MORE money than already required. That's right tea party, Bobby Jindal ASKING for federal money! That's Socialism, right??"

What's more, FEMA gave him the same response it gave in 2008 with respect to hurricane Gustav and he had no problem with it then when it was Dubya in office. Suddenlly, he's pretending that the same response is insufficient and a reason to complain. EVEN DAVID VITTER HAS PRAISED FEMA'S RESPONSE TO ISAAC. This is all staged between Mittens and Booby Jingle..."oh, the Mittens campaign called and offered to help, so everything's going to be ok now LA...don't you worry about that mean old federal gov't and their lack of response that I previously found to be just fine when a GOPer was POTUS...because Mittens will fix everything." Load of crap.

  4. The REAL TRUTH...

@truth hurts – Romney/Ryan is the only answer to the Obama Jobs Depression

It amazes me how the right can constantly parrot what they have been brainwashed to do so.... completely ignoring the FACT that the same failed fiscal policies and trickle-down economics that they want to go "back" to are the very thing that got us in teh mess we are in. We've had four years of Congressional stalemate INITIATED and PERPETRATED by the GOP. Yes, the Party that hasn't done a single thing to help fix the economy except whine and complain about everything Obama does. Crass stupidity abounds!

"The fact that this candidate thinks he should get updates before he holds any elected office disturbs me'

The fact that Booby Jingle would/will have his staff call Mittens before the POTUS if anything comes up is even more disturbing. But of course he will and would....gotta give Mittens ammunition and get their stories straight before calling up POTUS.
