Fact Check: 'Looming tax hike,' a recession and Obama's palate

(CNN) – U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell isn't impressed that President Obama would wax about spicy cuisine as unemployment rises, and he hopes you're not, either.

McConnell, speaking at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night, made a series of verbal jabs at the president and warnings about the economy.

Senator McConnell, if there is an issue, it is probably because you and your fellow Republicans have stood in the way of any Job Recovery or Tax Relief bill in order to satisfy your stated agenda of making "Barak Obama a one-term President". Had you actually not stood in the way and filibustered every important piece of legislation that has come out in the past three-and-a-half years, then the Recovery would be moving faster, and you could then brag about what the Republicans in the Senate have done to help the Recovery.
Please remember. Harry Truman did not run against Tom Dewey in 1948. He knew he would lose had he done so. Instead, he ran against the "Do-Nothing Congress". Congratulations. You are the Senate Minority Leader and (along with Cryin' John Boehner) the face of the "2012 Do-Nothing Congress". Barak Obama is a student of history (you know, one of those subjects the GOP believes is useless to teach unless taught by GOP approved teachers using GOP approved books), which you obviously are not. He has and will continue to run not against Mitt Romney, but against the Congress which has spent the past two years (four in the Senate) impeding the Recovery. But don't worry. I am sure you will be reelected as Senate Minority Leader by your caucus towards the end of December again. Only this time, you will probably not have as many people in the room as you currently do.

Mitch McConnell vowed to obstruct President Obama the day he took office in order to make him a one term president. He has been insulting and rude. He has done nothing to assist the American people, but instead has thrown out road blocks every chance he had. He has nothing to say that I want to hear.

Mitch McConnell is a prime example of a politician with his own agenda. He has done damage to this country by refusing to work together with other duly elected politicians. He said he would not do anything to help re-elect Mr. Obama on Inauguration Day. His words were not helpful and he has not brought anyone together to do the nation's business. He did accept his pay check, kept his office open, etc. on our tax dollar.
