(CNN) - Mitt Romney's campaign released excerpts for the candidate's Republican nomination acceptance speech Thursday night, set to take place at the Republican National Convention in the 10 p.m. ET hour.

Source: Rubio convention address will focus on American exceptionalism

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Sen. Marco Rubio's introduction of Mitt Romney Thursday at the Republican National Convention will touch on themes of Americans exceptionalism, including Rubio's own experience growing up as the son of Cuban exiles, according to a source familiar with Rubio's plans.

The source said Rubio would delve into themes he's used for the past several years, including the sacrifices his parents made to ensure their children had every opportunity they themselves were denied.

Romney defends 'sterling' business record

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's team released perhaps its most thorough response yet to attacks against the GOP candidate's business record, unveiling a new website Thursday that highlights his career as a private equity executive.

The website, www.sterlingbusinesscareer.com, was debuted just hours before Romney is set to take the stage at the Republican National Convention and accept his party's nomination for president.

BREAKING: TEXAS VOTER ID LAW STRUCK DOWN A federal appeals court in Washington has struck down the Texas law that required photo identification for voters at the polls. The decision is a major victory for the Obama administration and its Democratic allies, who had challenged the law. “The court’s decision today and the decision earlier this week on the Texas redistricting plans not only reaffirm – but help protect – the vital role the Voting Rights Act plays in our society to ensure that every American has the right to vote and to have that vote counted,” said Attorney General Eric Holder in a written statement. – Terry Frieden

DIRTY HARRY WILL BE IN THE BUILDING… Legendary actor Clint Eastwood is, in fact, tonight’s surprise speaker at the Republican National Convention. According to reporting by CNN’s Deirdre Walsh, Eastwood will soon do a walk through of the Tampa Bay Times Forum in preparation for his remarks.

For Romney, the speech of his life

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - The challenge for Mitt Romney as he accepts the Republican presidential nomination is to push past the stiff and reserved perception that's been created for him by opponents and comedians and make a heartfelt and profound appeal to the millions of Americans who will be watching his speech Thursday night.

Romney advisers say their biggest goal is to improve his likability and make the case that he understands how Americans are struggling and that he empathizes with the middle class.

Eastwood, a longtime Republican, is expected to walk through the convention floor in the afternoon for a brief rundown of the night's events.

Etch A Sketch cashes in on Romney aide gaffe

New York (CNNMoney) - Months after an aide to Mitt Romney made his now infamous "Etch A Sketch" gaffe, the company that makes the iconic toy is still trying to cash in on it.

The Ohio Art Company has started selling limited-edition election versions of its Etch A Sketch for $19.99. The products come in two colors: red and blue, with a cover sticker showing a donkey and an elephant in a tug of war in front of the White House.

Romney aides provide glimpse of big speech

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Mitt Romney's highly anticipated speech Thursday night will examine his philosophical view on the role of government, offer his biography, review what he calls President Barack Obama's failures and provide his vision on how to solve the nation's most pressing problems, campaign officials told CNN.

The planned 30-minute address concludes the storm-shortened Republican National Convention with Romney's acceptance of his party's nomination to run against Obama in November.
