(CNN) - Clint Eastwood will be the "mystery guest" at the Republican National Convention's final night, a GOP source confirmed Thursday.
Eastwood, a longtime Republican, is expected to walk through the convention floor in the afternoon for a brief rundown of the night's events.

The actor endorsed Romney at an Idaho fund-raiser at the beginning of August, where he told reporters beforehand he was backing the Republican presidential candidate "because I think the country needs a boost somewhere."
He later told hundreds at the outdoor reception that Romney was "going to restore, hopefully, a decent tax system that we need badly...so that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as to who's paying taxes and who isn't."
Convention organizers had been teasing a surprise "mystery guest" all week at the convention in Tampa but would not give details or hints about the surprise speaker.
Romney will accept his party's nomination for president Thursday night.

Dirty Harry is playing dirty again in real life. As a law man, he should be independent and shall not take side with any party.
Geeeezzz....I thought it would be the Donald – where is that handsome guy?
Oh, wow! I wasn't gonna vote for Romney, but since Clint likes him, that changes everything - NOT. Why should anybody care what their favorite (or other) movie star thinks? Movie stars make their living "deceiving" us into believing they're people they're not. That about covers it. Now, if only I knew whom Lindsey Lohan supported...
Clint Eastwood: Another Republican with a gun.
Thank god I don't hold actors opinions against their movies. Clint eastwood was just here filming that new basbeall movie he made and seemed like a nice guy But if he supports Romney I think Alzhimers is kicking in.
Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk??? Go Clint, you're my hero!! God Bless America.
May have to reconsider which movies I spend my hard earned middle class dollars on.
@ supercrook...So, its ok for Clooney, letterman, Leno and Co. to support Obama? Don't see them being independent!!
Remember when all the conservatives were whining that is Chrysler commercial was too liberal.
Ah Clint. I thought you were cooler than this. But you are rich, so the rest of us don't matter, right?
Great family values man, that Mr. Eastwood. I wonder if he'll bring any of his many illegitimate children with him?
Remember exiting a theater some years back. The move was an Eastwood violence fest. One person out the door a few feet ahead summed it up. More violence, less acting. Never went to, or made a point to watch his movies again.
Looks like the old guy has gotten senile.
Just another rich man that thinks he should not support his country and pay any tax. Just think of all the wealthy people not paying tax and dumping on the little guy. Where would Eastwood be today if it was not for America?
please no more "make my day" comments.
Yikes, well, they had to find somebody older than Romney, and Betty White has too much class to stoop to this.
But what we really need is a lie detector test for everyone at the podium. You won't hear anything with the machine screaming LIE, LIE, LIE all the time in Tampa. Looking forward to the debates – wow, Obama and Biden are going to romp home.
@NYKnows
You got it we need that lie detector test next week at the democrat convention since everything bad will still be Bush's fault. After 3 3/4 years it's time Obama took responsibility for his failures; they are no longer Bush's fault. And I can't wait for Biden to debate Ryan; wonder if he knows what state the debate will be held in after all he thought Va. was NC.
Clint Eastwood, Ronald Reagan, Charlie Daniels, Adam Carolla, Bob Hope, Patricia Heaton, Gary Sinise, Ted Nugent, Dennis Miller, Sonny Bono, Adam Sandler, Brittney Spears, Pat Boone, John Wayne,Vince Vaughn, Kelsey Grammar, Curt Schilling, Clark Gable, Dean Koontz, Nolan Ryan... I can go on and on and on. These are all famous republicans. I hope the right wing stops the bs about Hollywood being so liberal. Clearly it is not.
So many people here so jealous of Clint Eastwood. Winners really irritate losers.
Really. This is the diversity the republicans are preaching. The only minorities in the crowd were the band members.
Is he bringing clyde with him? They were great together.
Watching Mr Eastwood right now...........
Always liked him,but this sad stint at on stage comedy is truly sad..............
Conservatives is it comedy night or you guys going to spend this whole week roasting the president and trying to be funny ?
Way out of touch........
This was embarrassing....for Clint Eastwood. It also was insulting and demeaning to the PRESIDENT OF THE USA. It is one thing to insult the person – but a completely different thing to insult the office. However, to summarize the whole skit:
still don't know much about Mitt Romney except his relationship with his wife. Let's get a bit more factual.
What is this odd attempt at humor from Eastwood? Is this really where America is today? Trying to roast the President without any substance of what you stand for is not the way to win votes.
