Obama alters campaign trip to travel to hurricane zone

(CNN) - President Barack Obama plans to go to Louisiana on Monday to meet with officials handling the response to Hurricane Isaac, which made landfall this week, the White House said Friday.

According to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, the president canceled a campaign trip to Cleveland, Ohio in order to make the Gulf Coast visit. He will travel from Toledo, Ohio to Louisiana.

Dude, I'll tell you the same thing I told Mitt. Do not go down there and start walking around like you're Guiliani. You will consume federal, state, and local resources to provide you with security. Those resources are better put to use helping people trying to stabilize the situation and help the residents. Land at the airport, have a photo op, some words with the press ;), and get out of there if the conditions on the ground are still fluid. Make a promise to return within a week to check on progress. Do no harm, and stay out of the way.

What a complete phony. Romney goes to see these folks and Obama, who had no intention of going, now feels like he should go. Can't wait for nov 6 to end this debacle.

Where is CNN's and the MSM outrage? Obama, the President of the US is out raising money today and this weekend for his reelection. He places fundraising above showing support for the people of Louisiana and Mississippi. To him, the residents of these states don't count because they don't typically vote Democrat.

Remember how the press railed against President Bush for not getting to the Golf Coast in what they thought was a timely manner. CNN – your a sad excuse for a news outlet. It's no wonder you continue to see fewer people watching your sad network.

What policy will change? What new money will be available? What programs will change to benefit the future? what did we learn?

Or will this be another tax-payer funds campaign photo op? Once against, Liberal Lite. I am voting Green party to send the Dems a message.

So Bush got trashed on Katrina that hit 8-29-2005 and Bush was in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana on 9-2-2005. Yet Obama's administration claims that he can't visit Louisiana until Monday 9-3-2012 because when Obama goes anywhere too many arrangements have to be made for his visit. Wow. what a bunch of BS. Typical Obama, pretty boy, clean hands, don't bother me, have someone else take care of it for me. Never a hands-on guy.

Why would Romney go, he doesn't hold any office? I guess he wants the photo-op. Not impressed by RNC, so can't wait until next week. I probably won't be voting for Romney. I read HR 3 and HR 3805 his buddy Paul wrote and I was disgusted.

Now watch Willard Capone try and follow in the President's footsteps. When it comes to the safety ad well being of OUR citizens, this President's response time is paramount. He's not flying over in AF1 watching thousands die and congratulating Sec. Napalitano on a "good job."

Why are either of them going? It's unnecessary. These people choose to live on a swamp in a hurricane alley and somehow we should be sympathetic? Waste of time and money.

By the way if you all are concerned about money being wasted maybe you should talk to both of your candidates about the billions spent on campaigning rather than assisting countrymen.

Don't forget your boy Sheldon adelson who is buying an election. Stop being Americans and see the big picture for once. This isn't a reality tv show it is reality.

Katrina was a disaster and Bush just blew it. I can recall that most people fled to the Saint's football stadium and were there for weeks. Bush did not coordinate anything, turned it over to FEMA and Homeland Security. People were fired over Katrina blunders.
For this Hurricane Isaac, they mobilized ground troop from the National Guard were in place BEFORE the rains hit. They were ready to evacuate, even Jindal and Obama spoke out before it hit to urge people to evacuate.

Because he's a Governor and knows what a catastophy like this takes out of a state and the resources it takes to help all those families and any help that any of us can give them is welcomed. Are you serious, we should all be helping these families!!!!!! Have you seen their homes under water?????? Do you know what pain these families are going through???????? If Romney can help so be it!!!!!!!! Don't forget to donate!!!!!!!

Louisanna's Governor declared a state of emergency and activated its Nationa Guard before Isaac's landfall.
Quite a difference from his Katrina counterpart..

ok right wingers plase tell me what disaster the president has not visted thus far? And whenhe does you all are the first to cry out it's only a photo op. Well check this out, unlike Mitt Romney the president can give an order to FEMA or for aide without going to the area there personally. OR are you so busy in your hate for him that you didn't know that? Unless he's going to dig in his Swiss bank account and pass out money can do nothing BUT have a photo op.
