Obama takes his seat

(CNN) – The Obama campaign offered a pointed comeback to Clint Eastwood's Republican National Convention chair sketch Thursday night tweeting, "This seat's taken" along with a picture of Obama in his Cabinet Room chair with a plaque inscribed: "The President."

Clint Eastwood was revealed as the GOP convention's "mystery guest" Thursday prior to the evening's prime time rundown and following media speculation of the schedule's empty slot. Eastwood's speech drew laughs, criticism and blank stares as he conversed with an empty chair placed on stage next to the podium. Eastwood, addressing an unseen President Barack Obama, condemned the incumbent for his ineffective policies, railing on his campaign's political tactics and handing a star studded endorsement to Thursday's intended focus, Mitt Romney.

Naturally, the notorious actor and director's speech sent the Twitter-verse reeling.

It wasn't long before Obama's campaign joined in the Twitter banter and jumped on Eastwood's seemingly unscripted speech, tweeting the picture of the commander in chief in his official chair.

And it wasn't long before that photo prompted a response.

Friday afternoon, the National Republican Senatorial Committee tweeted, "This seat's not," accompanied with a picture of an identical (but empty) chair facing the words "White House Jobs Council."

"It's been over 227 days since President Obama has met with his job's council," read the text on a webpage linked from the NRSC tweet. "Add to that the over 1,200 days since Senate Democrats have passed a budget and it is no wonder we are facing an unprecedented jobs and debt crisis."

Of course, both tweets included links to the respective campaigns' websites - the Obama campaign page sought a donation, while the NRSC page asked visitors to sign a digital petition.

I would have tweeted the Senate and Clint a big middle finger – since the Senate does business with the Chamber of Commerce, the president already knows that is a waste of time because it's a known fact the COC doesn't support American Workers in the least. Fitting their abbreviation is COC...

Clint was genius! Funny and got in some great "zingers." The empty chair and teleprompter were hilarious!

Obama is the worst president ever. He began his term with an American apology tour, has implemented socialist policies that have failed repeatedly throughout the world, increased our debt to 5 trillion and counting, increased the size of government, alienated and betrayed allies, befriended enemies, gone on a lot of vacations and played a lot of golf. He is against America. His leanings are left of left. Jerimiah Wright, Bernadeen Dorn, etc. etc. He has nothing to run on but blame, excuses and the race card. Forget about Joe Biden. That moron is one heartbeat away from the presidency.

  5. OBAMA ROCKS

Yeah....Clint really disappointed! But, it didn't surprise me...when he's stomping for the wrong candidate, these kind of things happen! LOL!!! I Thank GOD that Pres. Obama is sitting in that chair, and into 2012-2016!! :)

And what an empty chair it is. Notice you can only see the back of his head – same direction the Country has been in the past 3 1/2 years – backwards. Here's the good thing – the Chair is about to be empty of him, and seated by someone who can do the job – someone whom held real jobs – not like the empty suit/seat that currently holds it. Can't wait to Nov 6th when we replace him

Dean says: "Obama does not have to meet with his jobs council, he's got his top advisor on jobs, Jeff Immelt, sending jobs to China and India every day." You mean to tell me Bain and Romney didn't export enough jobs to China and India, so now Obama is doing it to try to keep in step with them?

The fact that the white house felt compelled to respond to Clint indicates that Clint' made his point. Obama is shown in his seat doing nothing productive. Let's get a real leader for that seat.

Out with the elephant, and in with the bold, new and updated republican moniker, The Empty Chair. yep, that just about sums it up. Goes nicely with the empty suit.

Did anyone notice how white and pasty the GOP convention was. Even John McCain had a few more colors present in the audience. White white white and wealthy. Campaign bought and paid for by Kotch bros, Trump and Adelson and the like.,

I watched that clip of Eastwood. I like the guy, I like his regular guy presence. I'm pretty moderate. His performance was embarrassing. Um... Clint. We have 23 million unemployed because of the President's predecessor. Yes, Bush-Cheney (or was it really Cheney-Bush) made THAT big of a mess of things. Embarrassing. Sad.

    14 million are still waiting.
The slowest recovery in history and the idiots in this blog can only resort to badmouthing Romney?
I have my doubts about Romney; but I have NONE about Obama! I am 100% SURE he does not understand economics.

While Clint would seem to be voting against his invisible interests, The party of: "NO", the war against women, the party that hates gays and the middle class. Clint is still looking out for No. 1, as he is hoping for more tax cuts for the 1%, to be shouldered by the rest of america. You can't have it both ways Clint. Sorry to see yer on the wrong side of this one.
