(CNN) – Rapper Nicki Minaj goes political in her latest lyrics, and not the way some would assume for a major celebrity.
"I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney," Minaj raps on a new release from Lil' Wayne. "You lazy b-hes is f-ing up the economy."
Minaj's latest lyrics were reported last night by outlets including The Huffington Post and Gawker.
Despite her proclamation, most observers seemed skeptical that Minaj was actually endorsing Romney, since she frequently assumes different personalities in her lyrics.
Minaj has delved into politics before on Twitter, including a plea to President Barack Obama to expand his sweeping health care law.
"Just give FREE health care to all. @BarackObama what can we do?" Minaj tweeted in June.
"@BarackObama I wouldn't mind the millions they took if it was going to healthcare. Why should a poor person struggle to pay for MEDS sir?" she added.
Minaj was recently announced as a judge on next season's "American Idol."

She said WHAT about WHO?
Oh NO she dint!
Major celebrity? Never hear of her or it. What is a Niki Mniaj?
My new favorite singer.
Free healthcare to all Nicki? You're backing the wrong guy. This is what I mean by people voting against their own interest.
With an endorsement like that there is now no doubt that I will VOTE FOR OBAMA.
Love it. Happy she is brave enough to say that given her fan basis. Amazing more celebs don't support tax breaks that would benefit themselves.
Neither has any talent so let's keep this circus train moving.
What, you people actually think there are no black republicans? Unintelligent ill informed people come from all walks of life and all races, and besides she really looks like she has the brain power of a beetle.
A vote against Romney is a vote against God
Always glad to hear the eloquence of such an obvious high class person.
Yes, let's have FREE health care for all. So Nicki who then do we send all those health care bills too? Maybe you could do some FREE concerts too? She is a example of what is wrong with American's. Their expectations are unrealistic and have not been thought out. Gee, I would like to make a million dollars doing nothing. But you know, that's unrealistic.
Who will be influenced by hearing Nicki Minaj's political views and opinions!? Voicing her opinions will only hurt her record sales among young voters. And, you know the conservative Republicans are not going to start buying her music.
There's more to this than meets the eye. I'll bet she's rapping in jest. If not, then she can take her tweets and shove them where the sun don't shine, because what right would she have to complain that her friend paid too much in taxes and couldn't get free health care, and then go about calling others lazy now that she's wealthy? No...Miss Minaj is way too smart for all that nonsense.
Entertainers are great for..... entertainment. They are, by default, a bit nutty, outlandish and irrational, no matter which political viewpoint they happen to accidentally stumble onto. If they actually were rational logically oriented people, they wouldn't make it very far in entertainment. I put their political bullhorn announcements in the same category as the guy on the street corner that wears aluminum foil on his head to keep the government from reading his communications with the aliens.
Who cares?? I mean....who in the world cares what Minaj thinks??? Her PR people release this garbage because some idiot newsperson is going to print it and give her free media exposure. I bet this girl couldn't intelligently explain what the difference between a Rep. and a Dem. are! God our world is going to hell when this crap is news.
If she wants health care for all I doubt she is going to vote for Romney/ Ryan. On the other hand, now that she is set for life maybe she doesn't care what happens to everyone else now.
Who cares what this talentless twitt has to say? Her music is horrible and I'm sure she is as informed on how politics works as a grapefruit.
Really? Nicki Minaj? This is who we're getting political advice from now? Really?
A.I. Publicist: Nicki, we need to get more people to watch Idol but not everyone knows who you are. So the plan is to get you noticed by people who would NEVER buy any of your music but watch our show. All you have to do is...
I haven't heard the song, but my guess is it is satirical. I highly doubt Minaj supports universal healthcare and is also supporting Romney. I would want to hear more before I can figure out if she really feels that way or if she is being satirical. Either way, no sense getting too twisted up in this. Pop stars come and go so fast.

Canada is doin' just fine with Universal Health Care. We just suck it up and pay HIGHER TAXES to support everyone. It is called being human...
She's so sarcastic, we don't even know when she's being sarcastic.
Is she even an American citizen? Thought she was British.
I didn't know she was going to be a judge on Idol this year. they must be hard up. She has little experince and can't sing. Who's she to judge someone elses ability? I will give her credit for not endorsing Obama.
One word. Lithium. It'll do her wonders.
