Obama traveled to North Carolina earlier in the day on Wednesday, while his wife attended several DNC-related events in Charlotte earlier in the day.
He is to speak and accept his party's nomination Thursday evening. The DNC on Wednesday morning scrapped plans to have Thursday's convention activities at an outdoor stadium with at least 65,000 people in attendance as thunderstorms and other severe weather was in the Thursday forecast.
