Passengers left out of convention get airline break

Washington (CNN) - Two airlines say passengers who won't be able to attend President Obama's speech tonight can fly home early without paying change fees.

The last night of the Democratic National Convention, including the president's speech, was scheduled to be outside in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium. However, severe weather forecasts prompted organizers to move it inside to the much smaller Time Warner Cable Arena where the rest of the convention has been held.

"We share the disappointment of over 65,000 people who signed up for community credentials to be there with the President in person," the convention's press release announcing the change said.

US Airways and United Airlines have issued waivers that allow passengers traveling from Charlotte on Friday to leave Thursday instead.

"Due to the impact that weather has had on the Democratic National Convention's event schedule in Charlotte, N.C., US Airways will provide its customers the flexibility to adjust their current travel plans at no additional cost," the waiver reads.

Complete details of the waivers are on United and US Airway's respective websites.

Charlotte is US Airways' largest hub, and the sixth busiest airport in the world in terms of operations, according to the airline.

American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue and Southwest Airlines, which also have flights in Charlotte, have not posted waivers.

US Airways also is warning passengers the city's airport will be crowded as convention attendees leave. They suggest passengers that are leaving on domestic flights arrive 2 hours before departure Thursday, and three hours before on Friday.

CNN Meteorologist Taylor Ward says Charlotte is experiencing scattered showers today and the weather Friday is looking better and not expected to have any impact on flights.

All of the airlines advise passengers to check their websites for the latest status of their flights.

Now wait a minute, President Obama said "We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that's the reason I'm running for president" and then he went on to say "You're not on your own, we're in this together.

So expect President Obama to pay for everyone's change fees that has to go home due to the change from the stadium to the convention center.

Obama said "we're in this together".

Apparently, GOPers/Teatrolls only understand the word "waiver" when it's used in misrepresentations about the welfare system.

Or we could reflect on President Clinton's words last night "If you want a country of shared prosperity and shared responsibility, a we're all in this together society, you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden".

Well, there's your answer, give your bill for the change fees to President Obama and have him pay since this would qualify as a "shared responsibility".

Nah...I was talking about your tinfoil hatted assertions about Obama paying for peoples' change fees. You still haven't justified the assertion that they would somehow be considered a "shared responsibility"....waiting....

@myviewisalwayswrong: It was moved to Time Warner Arena not the Convention Center. When it comes to comments your stupidity has no bounds. If you spent more time getting the facts perhaps you would spend less time posting. You claim to be a business owner I think not. If you do have a business it is going bankrupt because you post everyday all day. The same tired juvenile posts about our President-academics, economics, finance, has not been a mayor, govorner, has not been a ceo–blah blah. You are either in middle school or a paid blogger. My advice is get a life, learn the facts and get a job. I am retired and served our country for 24 years what have you done for our country but whine. You say you are an immigrant but I don't think you are because I have friends that immigrated here and they are not a bunch of ignorant haters as you are.

What you've done for this country that you became " a U.S. citizen of" is raise the stupid quotient, and make us look even more ignorant to the global community. I suspect you've also become a paid blogger for a Party that is asking you to self-deport.

So I guess giving people jobs qualifies one to make absurd comments. Just like Willard who is Mr Job O. Creator himself. O is his specialty (overseas).

Right the hell on NC! I've been trying to post similar comments in regards to this "poser immigrant" to no avail.
Glad to see that you got through. I'm in 100% agreement with you!
