Romney: Obama speech will be 'interesting'

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) – Mitt Romney played political pundit Thursday, telling reporters what he hoped to hear President Obama discuss in his much-hyped Democratic National Convention speech that evening.

"I actually think it will be interesting to listen to the president tonight," Romney told a small group of reporters at an impromptu stop in Concord, New Hampshire, as he reeled off a list of areas - like reining in the national debt and restarting the sluggish job market - where he said the president had failed. "The president needs to report tonight on his promises rather than try to reset a whole series of new promises that he won't be able to keep."

The GOP presidential candidate had dropped by the unveiling of the "New Hampshire Military Veterans and Families for Mitt" group, a phone bank where veterans were doing voter outreach, as he traveled back from three days of debate preparations in Vermont.

Romney, who had spent the intensive prep time huddled with advisers at a secluded home, said he had not watched the convention speeches of first lady Michelle Obama nor former President Clinton, and he did not expect to watch Obama's either.

"You asked the question am I going to watch tonight," Romney told reporters who shouted questions to him during the quick stop. "If I heard, or if in the excerpts that are put out I hear, the president is going to report on the promises he made and how he has performed on those promises then I would love to watch it."

The presidential candidate said if elected he would create more jobs for veterans returning from Afghanistan, and thanked the veterans working the phones at his drop-by for calling voters to spread his message.

Afterward, a reporter asked Romney about criticism he had not specifically mentioned U.S. troops or the war in Afghanistan during his convention speech last week.

Romney pointed to remarks he gave at an American Legion convention last Wednesday in Indiana, the day before he addressed the Republican National Convention. The candidate made a day trip to Indianapolis that morning to attend the event.

"My commitment to the military is as shown here and at the American Legion," Romney said. "The president was also invited to the American Legion and he was too busy to go. It was during my convention. I went to the American Legion, described my views with regards to our military, my commitment to our military, my commitment to our men and women in uniform."

Obama addressed American Legion convention attendees via video.

""My commitment to the military is as shown here and at the American Legion," Romney said. "The president was also invited to the American Legion and he was too busy to go. It was during my convention."

So he basically just told them that he only showed up because he figured he had an opportunity to one-up Obama on something. Nice way to lead into it, Mittens...dbag.

Obama/ Biden 2012 really is outgunned in this election. They have 2 teams working against their efforts: Romney/ Ryan 2012 and Obama/ Biden 2008.

Let's see... Mitt Romney lied... Paul Ryan lied.... Michelle Obama lied... Bill Clinton lied (a lot... how is Miss Lewinsky these days, Willy?).... what do we expect to hear out of Obama? More lies. Ah... the joys of politics.

You sure couldn't say that about your speech. You and the rest live in another dimension. That silly smirk of yours is so uncomfortable to watch.

Isn't Thursday night when you usually wash your magic undies? Better stick to that plan and let the grown ups watch the convention, Mittler. You wouldn't understand anyway.

Gov. Romney, has made the majority of his money defrauding the Banks by borrowing money on the backs of companies to force them into bankruptcy, than taking those illegal gain and laundry them through hedge funds in the Cayman Island Accounts.. Than killing those jobs in the US and transferring those jobs in Asia Countries such as the Philippines, China, and India... Yeah, I can see just how well Mitt Romney loves America.

May the best Man Win, in November. I suspect that since the polls show that they are practically neck & neck, within the percentage points of the margin of error, this election will wind up like Carter vs. Reagan – polls showing it's practically tied all the way up to Voting day – then guess what happens ? Reagan defeats Carter by a Landslide. This may go this way again, on November 6th.

Well Mitt, it seems the GOPigs have done everything they could to make sure he couldn't keep his promises. Just wait and see how many you keep if you should get elected. Oh wait you haven't made any promises because you haven't persented any ideas of what you'll do yet. I guess you did promise to make your rich friends richer and create 12 million jobs which is impossible.

"Romney: Obama speech will be 'interesting'"

Even if that's all it is, he'll have managed to best you, Mittens...again. More than likely, it'll be a curbstomp to Mittens' campaign and the GOP/Teatrolls.

Of course, Mitt Romney is going to watch. I guarantee that his campaign will also have access to a complete recording of everything said and done at the DNC convention....and vice versa. Romney has to watch, or he'd better. Because if he doesn't then when we here that commercial a few laters saying, "I'm Mitt Romney, and I endorse..." then he had better fact check it.

  18. Lyin Ryan should be an Olympian

Willard's Clinton ad is so 2008. How about a little something from this year, 1/3/12 to be exact.

...and you said of Mitt Romney, 'Someone who will lie to you to get to be president will lie to you when they are president. I have to ask you, are you calling Mitt Romney a liar?"

    "Yes," Gingrich replied.

"You're calling Mitt Romney a liar?"

"Well, you seem shocked by it!" said Gingrich. "......He's not telling the American people the truth."

How about that - we found something in the contemporary timeframe that Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich agree on: Mitt Romney is a LIAR. Just like his running (not marathons) mate Lyin Ryan.

    Osama Bin Laden dead: check
    Lilly Ledbetter passed: check

    Financial Reform: check

There are other accomplishments I can mention such as dead Somali pirates and a dead Ghadaffi. The President will focus on the future. Willard, you need to be more concerned about your taxes being distributed to every news organization in the country and around the world.

Yes, watch Mr Romney. Watch how a great President takes on issues, provides solutions, and talks about reality. You clearly don't have it in you to talk about reality and solutions, but maybe you will learn something. and I would recommend spending a LOT of time preparing for the debates – Obama is going to bury you anyway, but if you could prepare at least one or two answers that are not lies and actually address issues, rather than just obfuscate, you might be able to retain a shred of self-respect.

The American Legion is a non-political organization, but lately I've felt out of place as a Legionnaire and Democrat at our post meetings. I won't drop out, but will shake up the post, we need to be open to all military.

Pray, what promises did Romney make in Tampa? Not a thing. Asking a GOPer for specifics on the economy is like asking Paul Ryan about his marathon time: it has to be hunted down, retracted, than ignored, even though it goes to their utter absence of character.
