Romney: Clinton speech helped ‘elevate’ Democratic convention

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Saturday that former President Bill Clinton’s speech helped “elevate” the level of the Democratic National Convention.

“He did stand out in contrast with the other speakers,” said Romney in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" airing Sunday. “I think he really did elevate the Democrat convention in a lot of ways and, frankly, the contrast may not have been as attractive as Barack Obama might have preferred if he were choosing who’d go before him and who’d go after him.”

Biden mocks GOP convention, ponders Martian reaction

Zanesville, Ohio (CNN) - Fresh off the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Joe Biden used two appearances in Ohio on Saturday to mock the Republican National Convention in Tampa and accused his opponents of not having the courage to explain their policies. Those and other comments were quickly labeled as "false and discredited attacks" by the Romney campaign.

Biden even went galactic: claiming that a Martian visiting the RNC would have, essentially, been lost in translation.

Romney casts dark cloud over Democrats' convention high

(CNN) – Mitt Romney capitalized on a sobering conclusion to Democrats’ convention high Saturday, painting the party as “completely out of ideas” with an inadequate leader in light of Friday's disappointing job report.

In his weekly podcast, Romney used August’s lackluster job numbers as evidence the weak economy has not improved under President Barack Obama, leaving the incumbent undeserving of a second term in the White House.
