Hustler magazine offers $1 million for a different type of exposure

(CNN) - A magazine known for its sexually explicit material is offering a reward of $1 million dollars for a different type of bare-all expose.

The publisher of Hustler magazine, Larry Flynt, is offering the sum for the skinny on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's financials, the magazine announced.

- Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

It is taking out full-page advertisements in two newspapers - The Washington Post on Sunday, and USA Today on Tuesday - "offering up to a million dollars in cash for documented evidence concerning Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's unreleased tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships," a press release from the magazine read.

Flynt's announcement could be seen as either an attempt to keep the issue of Romney's financial documents alive or put himself - and his magazine - in headlines.

Romney has released his tax returns for 2010 and an estimate of his 2011 tax liability, but has repeatedly said he would not release additional years, saying it would be fodder for Democrats to criticize him.

In recent months, various political figures, including some Republicans, have called for more transparency from Romney.

Earlier in the week, an anonymous online poster claimed it was holding stolen tax documents belonging to Romney ransom for $1 million in an internet currency. Should the sum not be paid by later this month, the posting said a key to unlock the documents would be released publicly, while the financial firm from which the documents were allegedly stolen said there is "no evidence of unauthorized access to our data."

Romney doesn't want to release his returns because we'll all see that his Trickle Down wealth has only trickled down to the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Luxembourg, etc...

Flynt is just a carnival barker like Donald Trump. Mitt the twit should love him.

We are 58 days from election. What kind of accountants does the twit have that we are still waiting for his 2011 taxes? Not that we will ever see the complete report. What about the other taxes he is hiding from the people who are supposed to believe (LOL) him and that he didn't cheat on said taxes?
What other deductions does he have besides the one he HAD to show in 2010 with the $77,000 horse deduction that the regular MS sufferers can't have nor can most of them afford a therapy horse?
Yes, he and that non working wife of his really and truly know what it is to live with less and fight for healthcare on a daily basis.

Gee, I didn't know Larry was still alive. It's hard to imagine anyone has this data so I don't think this will go anywhere. IF someone did rip off the data they are in a heap of trouble.

Hurrah for Larry Flynt, he is one great american, strange as it may seem to say. Even my "morals driven" mother sat and watched "The People vs Larry Flynt" when I told her it was about an important supreme court case, and a very interesting story. Glad to see Larry out there in the thick of still.

Not everybody would have to release more than 2 years of tax returns. But there's enough questions about Romney's finances that he does. That's life as a rich person. Now, he can either relase them and control the message, or a hacker or a magazine like Hustler can release them for him, and do the interpretation themselves. It's his choice, but the path seems obvious.

If they was stolen , Mitt Romney will pay what ever It take to get them back. There Is something In his tax return he doesn't want the American people to know, because It would ruin his chances to win at all. Did you Know His YACHT FLIES THE CAYMAN ISLANDS FLAG INSTEAD OF THE AMERICAN FLAG. Kind make you wonder just how much money he hiding down there doesn't It. And In other Country Too!

Well, it appears that comments to this message thread are limited to mittens' tax returns (or lack thereof) and "Larry Flynt is a librul, and look at what kind of magazine he publishes!" Try to respond rationally to either and your comments disappear before they can even await moderation. What's up with that CNN?

If Romney had character, honesty, and a back bone, he would release his tax returns at no cost to the public. Apparently he has something to hide like off off shore Cayman Island bank accounts.

Larry Flynt is actually an outstanding investigative reporter. However, there's no money to be made there so he branched out. While the right may feign indignance about that, you have to admit there's a buck to be made for what he's selling and judging by the massive turnout at Tampa gentlemens clubs in Tampa last month, the indignant are also the buyers.

The hatred for Romney and the fact that he's rich keeps the "tax" drivel going...But Kerry is much much richer than Romney and the Left loved him.

Romney had said that he wanted to protect the Mormon church, he probably doesn't want anybody to see his tax returns since he has to give 10% of his income to the Mormons – doesn't want them to know what he made. He probably is not giving them what he should.

If something is going to be exposed it will be on Friday 9/28. This is the Friday before the 1st Presidential Debate. If something is leaked it will dominate the political news cycle for 4 days minimum and will be a huge distraction for Romney if not a campaign crippler.

To loops808....John Kerry released a total of 20 years of tax returns during the time he ran as a senator and President. He had released tax returns through 2001 when he ran as a Senator in 2002 that is the only reason he released two years (2002 and 2003) when he ran for President. He had already released the other years.

Nice try skippy now move along.

You all kill me! You all want the American dream..then when someone achieves tear them down! You all cheer and gush over Clinton and his speach about the poor and downtrodden..guess what he is RICH..very very RICH!! $100 million dollars is his net worth. Get a job..get off the internet and cry me a river. I would rather have someone who made his money before he became President then someone who used his power and influenece after to get wealthy..either way..they all hit the speaker circuit and make millions post President.

Get the facts CNN: The fact is, Romney released an INCOMPLETE 2010 tax return. He did not release the form for people with overseas bank holdings. So, all he has released is an incomplete 2010 return and an estimate of 2011. It's very obvious he is hiding something. He through the public a bone hoping it would shut them up, but it hasn't.

The Romney defenders still thinking Obama's birth certificate is fake and crying about college transcripts from 25-30 years ago. They say he was a lackluster student but still didn't mind voting for a C student like Bush.

I think the recent tax returns of a grown man in his 50's and 60's is far more relevant than the college transcripts of a 20 year old 25 years ago.

But Republicans like to dwell on the ancient past instead of more recent times.

Larry Flynt is a capitalist providing the public with a product they demand. I would gather to say that Republicans buy the Hustler product as well as Democrats.

Flynt offers money to expose people.....Conservatives spend money to buy politicians. Do you really think the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Alderson are giving millions of dollars to Romney out of the kindness of their hearts and want nothing in return?
