Obama reelection message hits Florida

Seminole, Florida (CNN) - President Barack Obama took his “ready to go forward” message to Florida voters in his first stop Saturday on a bus tour through the swing state.

The president was introduced by former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who was once a Republican but is now an independent and an Obama supporter. Obama said Crist's backing proves “the values we are fighting for aren’t just Democratic values or Republican values, they’re American values.”

Video: Politics and the jobs report

(CNN) - CNN Chief National Correspondent John King looks at what the latest jobs report could mean for the November election.

The unemployment rate fell in August from 8.3% to 8.2%, according to the Labor Department report issued Friday, but that slip was fueled by 368,000 people dropping out of the workforce. The 96,000 jobs added is far below the generally accepted 150,000 needed to simply keep up with population growth.

On Friday, President Barack Obama called the last month's jobs report "not good enough" at a rally, while Romney told reporters that Obama "has been unable to deliver on virtually any of the promises he made when he ran for office four years ago."

GOP hammers Obama 'reality' in weekly address

(CNN) - In the wake of the Democratic and Republican conventions, Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming said in the GOP weekly address that "it's time for rhetoric to meet reality," which is that Americans are not better off under President Barack Obama's tenure.
