Romney campaign buys $8 million in ads

Washington (CNN) – As part of an $8.1 million ad buy beginning Wednesday, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has bought $361,000 worth of spots in Wisconsin, according to a Democratic source tracking ad buys.

The Romney buy, which will run through next Tuesday, also includes spots in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia in addition to Wisconsin, the source told CNN.

After news of Romney's buy emerged, the Obama campaign said it will also buy ad time in Wisconsin.

"Now that the Romney campaign has gone on the air – in addition to its super PAC allies – we are adding broadcast advertising to our campaign efforts in the state," spokesman Adam Fetcher said. "This is another opportunity to have a conversation with the people of Wisconsin about the crystal clear choice in this election."

This is the second highest amount Team Romney has spent on commercials in the key toss-up states since the general election media campaign began in May.

Romney's campaign, which spent $4.25 million last week in its first ad buy since the Republican convention, did not initially include Wisconsin when it unveiled specific ads for eight battlegrounds. This weekend it broadened its campaign when it unveiled a spot for Wisconsin. CNN recently rated the state a toss-up on the CNN Electoral Map.

A source familiar with the Obama Wisconsin ad buy told CNN the re-election campaign commercials will start airing Wednesday in the state. Team Obama, according to this source, is expected to top Romney's $361,000 buy in the state by "a lot." The source was not authorized to speak on the record about the ad spending details.

Several Republican-leaning super PACS are not advertising in Wisconsin, a signal that they did not view the state as competitive.

Both Wisconsin native Rep. Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden are campaigning in the Badger State this week.

Prior to this buy, the Obama re-election campaign had not advertised in Wisconsin recently.

Has Romney no shame? Apparently he is willing to stoop so low as to incite religious war to get elected. Unfortunately, by now making "God" an issue in the election I suspect it will make people wonder about Romney and his secretive mormon religion. During Vietnam, Romney dodged the draft by using his religion and going to France to sell Mormonisim. No doubt his tax returns will show he gave millions to his church as a way to avoid taxes. He's also is/was a Mormon Bishop. By now making His latest focus on "God" Romney runs the risk that people will wonder which comes first his church or his country.

Wisconsin will go Red just as it did for Scott walker Twice!!! It appears all the Dems care about are Romney's Tax Returns. Egyptian Muslim radicals are invading our embassy, Obama is dissing Israel, our economy is on the brink...Sounds alot to me like 1980!

Boy Wonder isn't going to pull Wisconsin in for Mitt Romney anymore than Romney is going to pull Massachutes in for Mitt Romney.

The good thing about being in a state not considered to be contested, such as Georgia, is that we do not have to put with these ads.

obama's worse nightmare is the countless hours of him lying and spewing the same tired old rhetoric for the last four years.... and then spewing the exact same speeches to get re-elected. he thinks the american people are complete idiots.

Romney had his chance at the RNC convention and blew it big thing.
    ---------------------------

Romney did not blow it at the convention, he was great, heartfelt, caring, family oriented, God fearing, real. Unlike Obama who repeated most of his speech from 2008, Obama could not even write a brand new speech, with new ideas, he couldn't even come up with his own healthplan, he had to use Romneycare.

I think you must be confuse with Lying Ryan. Face fact son, Repubs in trouble and don't talk that crap that this is like 1980 with Carter and Reagan. Reagan had a 3 point lead coming out of the convention, Mitts didn't get any bounce since Eastwood screwed him with his dumb speech. Mitts is nothing like Reagan and Obama isn't weak like Carter.
