(CNN) – President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the attack that killed U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens in Libya.
"The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these acts," the president said, vowing justice for the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
"We will not waiver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done," he added.
Stevens "died in a country that's still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war."
Obama will visit the State Department after his remarks at The White House, according to a release from his office.

Many Republicans and Democrats cannot understand the stance taken by the White House. Is this the time for our nation to weep and clutch at our pearls, wring our hands ? Perhaps gather around with our arms around each other for a Kuumbaya ??
I hate to say this but Obama is showing VERY little spine. Before you know it, someone will be bowing to the extremists and trying to appease them.
I am sickened by Obama's timid soft approach – very big of him to throw out yet another of his favourite catch phrase "senseless act". Is that all Obama can do in the face of the MURDER of our ambassador ??? Wait, give him two or three days to gather himself together...he has to see what the pundits say before he acts..
STAND UP OBAMA !! DO NOT STAND DOWN !
You know, Romney just can get out of his own way. If this man becomes President, I'm moving to Canada.
I listened to Willard M. Romney this morning. Personally I feel, at the moment, he is not the president of the united states, i have a feeling obama and clinton may know more than he does. I dunno...As well, his first stump talk was to bolster the millitary. Wonder why 17 trillion deficit exists. If this was not a lybian gov plot against USA, this should not start a friggin war. Terrorists are alive and well everywhere, but it isnt everyone. The death of these americans will not go without vinication, however, i agree with the presidents tactics regarding covert operations to seek out terrorists, i felt that way from the beginning of the Iraq war. I feel Willard should show his condolences but not to speak out of line when he doesnt even have all the facts. Knee jerk reaction at a time like this is obvious, however, all the more reason to delineate who in fact organized this atrosity.
Romney's ill-timed, ill-chosen words are an example of "shooting from the hip while stepping in it". Our embassy in Egypt issued the statement Romney found appeasing BEFORE the violence occurred. How could they be apologizing for an event that hadn't happened? Romney is not a capable diplomat. He doesn't gather facts and assess before he speaks. He disrespects our foreign service by injecting politics into a time of mourning. His behavior in this instance is pitiful. I wouldn't put him in charge of a dog pound.
