BREAKING: Obama condemns attacks in Libya

(CNN) – President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the attack that killed U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens in Libya.

"The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these acts," the president said, vowing justice for the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

"We will not waiver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done," he added.

Stevens "died in a country that's still striving to emerge from the recent experience of war."

Obama will visit the State Department after his remarks at The White House, according to a release from his office.

Too late for that Rudy. Haven't you heard Romney shooting off his ignorant, lying mouth to anybody that would listen?

Someone here hit it right on the head. Romney does not know the meaning of being an american in a ime of unity. THAT means STANDING with your CURRENT president and the american people in a time of mourning. Instead, he chose to talk to hot button issue on 9/11. What a moron!

Mitt Romeny should have left this situation to the Obama Administration. This is a very delicate situation. Prays go out to the families for their lose. Prays for military personnel that have their lives on the line. I am so disappointed with Gov. Romeny this was not about politics.

How about a word of condolence to the families of those who lost loved ones from Team Romney?
    Unbelievably cold and calculating!

Freedom of speech is the most precious right we have in this country. If a film maker wants to waste his time publishing a film with whatever subject he wants, it's clearly up to him! It's up to us if we want to pay to watch it. On the other hand, freedom of will & speech ends when someone else's rights infringe in my rights! Muslims extremists go out and kill people who disagree with them, which obviously infringe in other people's rights to live! These thugs feel they're the only ones that have the right of "free will/speech", which they demonstrate by killing people. It's absolutely true that our president has apologized, over and over again, for our freedoms and falsely assumes that by pulling down our mode of life he'll gain the favor of these extremists! The death of this ambassador is full proof that this administration's approach is the wrong one! These people only respect power and we have not "spoken softly and carried a big stick". This tragedy serves only to demonstrate the mistakes of this administration's foreign policy.

Hey Romney, when a cheerleader is auditioning for the cheer team they don't get to run out on the field until they make the team. Until then you can just dress up in your little outfit and practice your cheers at home in front of your family.

Obama cares nothing about our embassy being attacked, unless it is for political gain. For the USA to apologize for the movie on Islam is a national disgrace. I will be so glad when this lying hypocrite is voted out of office in November, OBama is not fit to lead this country. He is a national disgrace. Romeny/Ryan 2012 for a better way foward and a better tomorrow.

but the libyans should love us!!! why are they firing rockets at us and killing us??!! we freed them from a brutal dictator and gave them freedom, to kill us i guess. yes, obama and the leftists have really restored our standing in the world. turns out helping muslims/arabs is just a waste of time, money and lives. all they really want to do is kill americans whenever they want.

our foreign policy with most of these animals should be to provide as many weapons and as much ammunition to both sides to get the maximum number of them killed as that appears to be the outcome they wish on americans. enough is enough. these blood seeking barbarians aren't worth dealing with anymore. torch them all and take their oil as far as i am concerned.

Wait... I thought Obama was the one who is trying to dived and concur? Mittens should keep his eyes open and his mouth shut. i dont respect a guy touting foreign policy, who's recent foreign trip was a disaster. I further cant respect a guy who touts foreign policy while never serving in the military. the only foreign people Romney has had successful negotiations with are foreign bankers who hid his earnings fomr the tax man.

This is the nail in the coffin for the Romney campaign.

Romney does not appear to understand the ramifications of his actions. That's not a good characteristic for someone who wants to be president.

My prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in this siege.

What happened is a shame. Romney was right to comment on this, and hold the President to account, all Obama has done so far is payed lip service, where is the action. Why is a carrier not off the coast of Libya, ready to bomb them back to the stone age. But no we are to busy apologizing for the movie

Romney, dispicable. There are times when politics is secondary to other things. Sadly, the republicans have shown that nothing is above politics. This is a sensitive issue that requires a thoughtful response. Not saber rattling for the maddog teapartiers. Romney in particular and the republicans in general have lost perspective. Their "patriotic fervor" rings hollow as they turn their back on this country over the economy, foriegn policy, womens issues.....the list goes on. Sad! Sad! Sad!

Mitt's missing tax returns will not be turned over because it will show that he has been having business deals with Iran and China. Oh, for the love of money. Rmoney, I mean Romney, shame on you! And to use this tragedy as a political tool. Rmoney, I mean Romney, shame on you!

My thanks to the religious right in this country for doing their best to start another holy war in this world. There's a reason why this country was established with the mandate of separation of church and state. I used to be a Republican but no more. Too many right wing, bible thumping old white men telling everyone how to run their lives "Under Gods will". And Mitt Romney's one of them. God bless America, but God help us if he gets elected!

If the American People re-elect Pres. Obama, instead of letting another war mongering Republican into the White House, then the Nobel Committee will give us another Nobel Prize and ask Pres. Obama to go pick it up for us.

Firstly my condolences to the families of Ambassador Stevens and the three American diplomats who died in this cowardly attack.

Mr. Romney attempt to score political points by using this tragic event to attack the President is completely out of line and unprincipled.

I am a moderate republican who just came to the realization that I cannot vote for Mr. Romney.

  24. Critical Thinking

I think Romney critized the soft response to the cairo attack. the president said that the state departments response was not the white houses response. so Romeny and the President are on the same page but yet Romney is being called out for his remarks. Doesn't anyone else see the hypocracy that is going on? wake up America before it's too late

@Mako – It seems like most of the badmouthing of America is coming from the right these days. The Democrats are the party of Patriots. The GOP is the party of America hating ignoramuses.
