Obama: Romney overstepped on Libya, Egypt attacks

(CNN) – President Barack Obama, responding to criticism from his rival Mitt Romney on the U.S. response to attacks in Egypt and Libya, said Romney had spoken before making a full assessment of the facts.

"There's a broader lesson to be learned here," Obama said in a CBS interview. A clip of the interview was aired Wednesday afternoon.

"Gov. Romney seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later, and as president, one of the things I've learned is you can't do that," the president continued. "It's important for you to make sure that the statements that you make are backed up by the facts and that you've thought through the ramifications before you make them."

Asked if he thought Romney's statements were "irresponsible," Obama said he'd "let the American people judge that."

Mr. Romney spoke before he thought. He also didn't gather his facts and get them validated. It is scary to think of this man potentially running our foreign policy. By the way, Mr. Romney, Benghazi only has a consulate not an embassy.

Nice liberal media deflection! Obama's entire administration miss handled this. Romney looked Presidential and Obama looked like a cold fish who was lavishing in the fact that he got to send a few Marines to Lybia where he will be leading from behind.

When our President makes mistakes, he lets us know. Mitt Romny should take notice and follow suit, but he won't.
Mitt Romney is wrong this time, yesterday, last week and the weeks before .. he's been so wrong so many times,
there's no way to count them! Have I heard that first apology? Nope.

Obama is a Whuss. He has absolutely no idea what he is doing. He needs to grow some....but he has had four years and nothing has happened. Empty suit, empty chair. No place in the history of the world has his policies worked either in the financial area OR foreign policy. He is Carter's second term. UGH..

More distractions from the amateur in chief. let the leftylibdem decentralized propaganda machine ask some adult questions...like what security precautions or investigations were undertaken after the June 5 bombing outside the consultate in Benghazi? like what security did the Libyan government provide when 2 bodyguards were injured in the June 6 attack against the British ambassador in Benghazi? like what level of security alert did BO/Hillary invoke after the attack on the UN Red Cross in Maserati? like what did the amatuer BO do in the 12-18 hours between the attack on the US embassy in Egypt and the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi? like why weren't there any US Marines stationed at the consulate, especially after previous violence? like does the POTUS or SecState feel in any way responsible for failing to act responsible to the intelligence and threats and 8-10 hour demonstrations preceding the deadly attack in Libya? like did any Libyan demonstrators attempt to impede the assination or did any intelligence surface before the attack, given the obvious planningm coordination, and likely 2 waves of attack by 20-50 jihadists. like after Libyan security forces "drove off" the attackers, how many attackers were killed, wounded, or captured (preliminary answers are 0, 0, and 0). amazing isn't it? not a single attacker harmed in a 2-3 hour raid. but please leftylibdems, don't hold your breath to get any answers to these questions. most of you don't really want to know how our amateur POTUS reacted and those who do, are too busy angrily blaming and castrating Republicans. and don't wait on the liberal media to do any fact-finding or investigative reporting. It's not gonna happen with a leftylibdem administration. we all know it. so these leftylibdem hypocrites can stop with the soft, touchy "we reallly care" statements, and faux strength statements...it's benign negligence at best and stupid ignorance and naivete of the kind that gets people killed at worse.

Why should the US Government ever have to apologize to anyone about anything done in the United States that is legal. Too bad the Federal Government does not enforce its own laws when it comes to illegal immigration.

Mitt Romney is a foreign affairs novice. Dont kid yourselves, folks. The man needs to shut his mouth and continue his crash course in foreign affairs 101.

They are republicans. They don't use facts.

fake WMD to start the IRAQ invasion.
Obama is hiding something on OBL death; their whack jobs argue he is not dead, been dead for 10 years, works for the CIA, 9/11 was a US government conspiracy, the SEALs are cowards protecting Obama's lies, on and on.

The rest of the world really likes watching nut cases taking over a world power.
Our foreign enemies sit back while crazies in the US do the job.

The American people are judging. Most of us remember the Iran hostage crisis and this happening all across North Africa and in other parts of the Middle East in 1978, 1979. We had a relatively trustworthy ally in Mubarrak and a Ghaddaffi – who wasn't an ally, but would never dare have let this happen. These were replaced with radicals who are also apocalyptic Muslims that believe the end comes by massive war.

I always have thought that Mitt Romney was like a "plastic man" with no feelings. Now I know he is. To try to profit politically at the time was beyond poor behavior. The man has no soul. Many republicans on the forums make the comments like "well, poor people need to not have everything handed to them, it doesn't get them anywhere." Well, it didn't get Romney anywhere when he was born ultra rich, he doesn't even know how to behave in many situations. Shameful behavior and it shows that Romney and his team are thinking bipartisanly first and as a country of america second. I hope this drops him a few more points down the ladder-he deserves it.

Advice for Mitt: "Shut up. Sit down. Don't move. You don't have ALL of the intel, and you're NOT the Commander-in-Chief. And if we can help it you will NEVER be."

If the political party tables were turned the GOP would be arresting the DEM nominee for treason and bombing some random middle eastern country that wasn't even involved in the tragic events...perhaps a re-invasion of Iraq?

And we give them our tax payer money? And you crazy people attack the only possible light in this darkness who wants to stop the madness????
I feel like I"m living in an alternate reality!!! God save us!

Mr. Romney's comments show that he was not thinking about the victims when he heard this awful news, he was thinking about himself and his political motivations as he is down in the polls and the election is nearing. This is similar to his employment at Bain, he was not thinking about his employees but about his financial gains (which he placed in accounts outside of the U.S. to save himself money).

With some of the comments from haters of the POTUS, no wonder you have people like Romney thinking he is already the president. I am really not sure how these people survive ....they refuse to think for themselves and evaluate each situation. I am not sure how you can have so much hate for one person without any real reason but just because he is who he is. In the end so many of you will have to eat your words.

To the President I remember a verse of scripture when the angel said to Gideon "there are more for you than against you" even though you may not see them.
