(CNN) – President Barack Obama, responding to criticism from his rival Mitt Romney on the U.S. response to attacks in Egypt and Libya, said Romney had spoken before making a full assessment of the facts.
"There's a broader lesson to be learned here," Obama said in a CBS interview. A clip of the interview was aired Wednesday afternoon.
"Gov. Romney seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later, and as president, one of the things I've learned is you can't do that," the president continued. "It's important for you to make sure that the statements that you make are backed up by the facts and that you've thought through the ramifications before you make them."
Asked if he thought Romney's statements were "irresponsible," Obama said he'd "let the American people judge that."

I think it was a strategic move by Romney to make the statement. After the RNC he was criticized because of not talking very much about foreign policy in his nomination acceptance speech. I speculate that he was advised to "do something" soon and, if possible, try to make Obama look bad at the same time. However, Romney's tact and timing were regrettable. Him and the RNC chairman look like idiots to America and the world.

The last time we had such a weak response to a situation like this was when Jimmy Carter was president and Iran attacked our embassy. The middle east is clearly a more dangerous place after Egypt and Lybia were destabalized thru the support of this administration. Both Egypt and Libya's governments apologized for the killings. It was a small group of extremeists, and of course Al Qaeda claims the bombings were there thing which they would love nothing more to do and spout off about.

Romney is the ultimate political opportunist. Just look at how he changes his opinion on a dime on any number of issues. Whatever his opinion needs to be to get ahead, that's what his opinion is. Any tiny opening he sees to berate his opponent, now matter if it's backed by proof or not, he's gonna take it.
