Pelosi 'welcomes' Ryan back to the House

(CNN) - The top House Democrat, Nancy Pelosi, welcomed Paul Ryan back to Congress in true partisan style Thursday with a video highlighting Ryan's vote for a measure enacting automatic spending cuts, known as sequestration, and other heated political topics.

A combative and long-standing Democratic figure in Washington, Pelosi posted the video to her YouTube page as Congress reconvenes from their summer recess and Ryan returns to Washington after being tapped as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's running mate on August 11.

The video begins with the theme music from the sitcom "Welcome back, Kotter" and proceeds to splice together television news clips of Ryan, the House Budget chairman, explaining his vote for the automatic spending cuts known as sequestration, his 2011 House budget proposal as well as he and Romney's plan for tax reform. Democrats have criticized Ryan and Romney for a budget plan they say favors the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck responded to the video saying, "President Obama's friends in Congress clearly have too much time on their hands. With unemployment above 8% for 43 consecutive months, they should spend more energy helping Americans find work than making low-rent web videos."

Ryan is expected to make an appearance on the House floor Thursday to vote on a bill to keep government funded beyond October 1, the start of the new fiscal year.

I think if you are an elected official and choose to run for president or vice president you should have to give up your current post. You cannot effectively do both. It is past time for our electoral system to be overhauled.

Aw.. What's the matter, Paul? Don't like having your lies exposed for all to view? Hey, Paul... The Burlington Liars Club from your district called... They want to make you an official member and give you a special award for the number AND size of your exaggerations!

    Good one Nancy!

I used to think that Republicans just needed to be worked with and listened to. That is not at all the case. When you listen to Republicans and consider their concerns, they call you a weak leader. When you blow them off and do what is right anyways, they call you a tyrant. There is no winning with these people because they appeal to the sixth grader in all of us. As a result, these children, The Republicans, all need to be voted out of office. People need to be shown unequivocally that if they are supporting the GOP, they are supporting a failing ideology.

Ryan spokesperson says too much time on your hands. After five weeks of vacation and 2 years of inept do nothing leadership under Boehner, the congressional republicans are worthless, and proving to be the worst welfare violators that ever existed.

It would serve Nancy well to start reading books on Leadership. This is the behavior of a whiny little brat, NOT a "House Minority Leader".

Or, you could say "Oh how the Republicans love politicking". All obstruction and no construction, all
filibuster and no luster, no reason, no compromise, no solutions, just bash, bash, bash away all.
I'm sick of Cantor's do no work calendar. I resent paying for their six months of vacation he has scheduled
their health care, their postage (I never hear from my Congressional member),t heir useless "fact finding"
vacations, families in tow and all of their unearned perks. We need a House leader that isn't afraid of
his shadow, Norquist, tea party, and every other lame brain that threatens him unless they get their way.
And I certainly see zero backbone and strength from Romney. So defend all you want, you have nothing
    to be proud of.

    @JMAZ
now thats the pot calling the kettle black. The republicans do nothing but whine all the time but when a democrat does something, it's whinning. You need to read a book on leadership so you will know that mitt and the rest of the republicians are certainly not leaders.

Pelosi was the most effective speaker in over 60 years. Boehner has been the LEAST effective in the last 60 years. FACT and history.

  13. Wake up People!

I've been wondering for some time now..... If President Obama is the worst POTUS ever, why was it so hard to find a competent GOP candidate to run against him? The way the GOP talk, they could have put ANYONE up against President Obama? That has been their mantra since what February 09?? Seems like they could have gotten Honey Boo Boo to run or at least whalin Palin........

    OBAMA 2012!

If Ryan is not telling the truth, then he is a liar. And if Romney is the Puppet Liar, they both are on the right team.
