Ryan to deliver harsh foreign policy speech in Washington

Washington (CNN) - Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan will unleash a fierce attack on President Obama's foreign policy Friday in a speech to the Values Voter Summit in Washington, according to excerpts of his speech provided by Mitt Romney's campaign.

Ryan will also highlight his Catholic faith in his speech to the gathering of social conservatives, which is sponsored by the Family Research Council.

Read the excerpts below:

Look across that region today, and what do we see? The slaughter of brave dissidents in Syria. Mobs storming American embassies and consulates. Iran four years closer to gaining a nuclear weapon. Israel, our best ally in the region, treated with indifference bordering on contempt by the Obama administration. Amid all these threats and dangers, what we do not see is steady, consistent American leadership. In the days ahead, and in the years ahead, American foreign policy needs moral clarity and firmness of purpose. Only by the confident exercise of American influence are evil and violence overcome. That is how we keep problems abroad from becoming crises. That is what keeps the peace. And that is what we will have in a Romney-Ryan administration …

The President is given to lectures on all that we owe to government, as if anyone who opposes his reckless expansion of federal power is guilty of ingratitude and rank individualism. He treats private enterprise as little more than a revenue source for government. He views government as the redistributor and allocator of opportunity. Well, the results are in for that, too. Here we are, after four years of economic stewardship under these self-proclaimed advocates of the poor, and what do they have to show for it? More people in poverty, and less upward mobility wherever you look. After four years of dividing people up with the bogus rhetoric of class warfare, just about every segment of society is worse off ...

In the President's telling, government is a big, benevolent presence – gently guiding our steps at every turn. In reality, when government enters the picture, private institutions are so often brushed aside with suspicion or even contempt. This is what happened to the Catholic Church and Catholic Charities this past January, when the new mandates of Obamacare started coming. Never mind your own conscience, they were basically told, from now on you're going to do things the government's way. Ladies and gentlemen, you would be hard pressed to find another group in America that does more to serve the health of women and their babies than the Catholic Church and Catholic Charities. And now, suddenly, we have Obamacare bureaucrats presuming to dictate how they will do it. As Governor Romney has said, this mandate is not a threat and insult to one religious group – it is a threat and insult to every religious group. He and I are honored to stand with you – people of faith and concerned citizens – in defense of religious liberty.

There IS no TRUTH. There is no FALSE. There is only, "PUBLIC OPINION", a weapon of mass destruction, which could destroy this planet.

It is a given that the Liberal Media/Democrat Propaganda Machine will completely ignore the content of Ryans speach but the American people are hearing it thanks to more fair and ballanced sources of news that are available.

What time will it be broadcast on Fox news ?

President Obama was CORRECTED by his own State department about what an ALLY is.!!! He doesn't even know what his foreign policy experts are doing while he is off to Vegas and other campaign events. Their is a crisis in the world and he is doing what he does best....Lead from behind while letting the Liberal media run interference for him.

    Disgracefull.

Top Italian Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini says in an interview published ... after his death that the Catholic Church is "200 years behind" the times.

I ponder to think if he was referring to men like Ryan ?

Go back to driving your wiener-mobile Ryan. Its the only thing you seem qualified for. Oh! and in Ayn Rands books you would have been the bad guy. Did you ever actually READ them. Most of us stopped being impressed by her writing by about 18 years old.

Give it a rest troll. What's disgraceful is the number of red state lemmings that are falling for the propaganda being spewed by FOREIGN-owned Faux Noise Entertainment. To label what they broadcast as "news" does a great disservice to real news outlets.. Did you not notice the word "Entertainment" in their name. Time to quit parroting and educate oneself.
What's also disgraceful are the lies being levied by the so-called GOP candidates. These people are nothing but attack puppets who have no-one's interest at heart but those who have bought and paid for their campaigns.

Whatever gets you to sleep at night, there Rob. Many government's are still forming in Egypt. The indication now is that yes they are still our ally. Once Romney and company are done, who knows who will be our ally anymore.

So, Paul, what exactly are your own bona fides for interrnational affairs? That is, other than the infamous Sea of Galilee swimming incident brought to us by Republicans? You are Mitt are novices at best in the international arena. Your campaign, moreover, smacks of desperation, being feckless, amateurishness, and dishonesty. You should be ashamed in these challenging times to make this a poltical issue. If your approach is to wage war on muttilple fronts - the big saber, the iron hand, and whatnot - then you're living in the 20th century. The world is a far more complex, brittle place that your partisan prattle would indicate.

Ummmmmmm... not that it matters in any way other than questioning your credibility... but you do realize that Islam is over 600 years "younger" than Christianity, right?? Very odd post.

Thankfully only the 500 people who watch CNN at any given time will see the liberal slant without the context.

Its not just Fox where you can get the whole story, its on the internet its in other newspapers than the NY Times or WAPO etc.

Look around a bit, you may find information that doesn't show up in these traditionally liberal news sources..

Romney is saying that Obama is lying and he isn't, a liar lying about not lying. How ironic. I guess when you have nothing to run on you are left with garbage like this.

"Iran as a nuclear nation is unacceptable to the United States of America."

North Korea as a nuclear nation is acceptable to the United States of America (GWB allowed it to happen–and what did R0mney do about it?).

Ryan is showing himself to be a lier and a -over the top Hothead, not what this country need now!

We need continued steady resolve and thoughtful decision making based on Facts and not hyperbolic rhetoric and arm waving.

Ryan is a big noise and no substance!

Romney could have had a "game change" moment with all of the mess in north Africa had he not shot himself in the foot (before aiming) three nights ago.

Now, all of his surrogates' staged outrage and criticism looks just as empty and shallow as Romney himself. What a phony and desperate attempt to get the attention away from his losing campaign.
