Ed. Note: Fortune’s Dan Primack has the first comments from Marc Leder, the private equity exec who hosted the Boca Raton fundraiser where the Mitt Romney video was recorded.

(FORTUNE)
- Mitt Romney has spent the past day playing defense, after a video was released of the GOP presidential candidate disparaging 47% of Americans during a private fundraising dinner. Now the man who hosted the dinner, private equity executive Marc Leder, is speaking out.

Really? The guy who hosted the fundraiser and hosted swanky, "family values-less" sex parties in Boca Raton thinks it's a fantastic idea for him to insert himself into this discussion?

    Freekin awesome.

In a statement first given to Fortune, Leder says: "I hosted a fundraiser for an old friend in May. I believe all Americans should have the opportunity to succeed, to improve their lives, and to build even better lives for their children. I have supported people from both political parties who share this view and make it a priority, even though their ideas on how to achieve it may differ."

In other words, he said exactly nothing.

Unfortunately, his altruistic remarks run contrary to the exclusionary zone that Romney laid out in his remarks.

Don't you just LOVE how the Democrats and lefties RAILED FOR A YEAR against the "free riders" on the healthcare system to get Obamacare slammed through, and that was perfectly acceptable.

BUT now the TAX FREE RIDERS are called out and that is somehow taboo! Oh yeah, that is the Democrat base! Of course offense must be taken. Scream and cry foul, claim it is all poor people (47%?!!) and accuse the other side of being mean and cruel and out of touch with the "average American". TOTAL BUNK!! It is what the Democrat Party has become over the years. The party of division and theft. Play onbe segment as victims to be supported by the others and you're just a cruel mean sob if you don't agree with them.

Don't you know how ridiculous you sound complaining about a tax policy created by Ronald Reagan?

Don't you know that liberal complaints about health care freeloaders find their roots in the economic policies that conservatives fight so hard to defend? Conservatives like health care freeloaders because their masters like it that way.

This election is about THOSE THAT PAY THE BILLS of this country versus THOSE THAT TAKE AND DON'T CONTRIBUTE.

That $16 TRILLION in "debt" has another name. It is called FUTURE TAXES. Who is going to pay for all this?!! Democrats say take more and more from fewer and fewer to keep the unsustainable welfare state alive as long as possible while borrowing the rest only to pass the bill to our kids and grand kids.

THIS IS NOT A WORKABLE GOVERNMENT MODEL!

Truth, your buddy is saying the same thing on another thread. And both of you are so off.

Why or how can conservatives say that Obama is lying for underreporting unemployment by not using "all the under employed or those not looking anymore", yet Romney is telling the truth when if you simply add payroll taxes, that 47% drops to 16%? It's like you guys are willing to stretch the limits to justify what you believe and even more willing to not do so when it doesn't. That is disingenuous, dishonest and factually deficient.

Mitt Romney was playing to the crowd of invited guests who must want to hear this nonsense. They would like to believe that 47% do not pay or give anything back to their country. Perhaps they should look at the salaries of those who are serving in the armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some may even fall in that 47% and here is the sad part. These men and women are putting their lives on the line every day. Perhaps they do not pay taxes or large sume of money to the government but they are offering their most precious gift – their lives. Mr. Romney neglects to recognize this group or those positions which provide social services, police and fire protection, etc. To state that one group is not doing their fair share and expecting everything in return is not only unfair but implies that these people can be put into one group. How ridiculous this is. Off the cuff my eye.

I am not rich and I am a victim of the system taking my taxes and giving to those that don't contribute.

Romney must have not read his religious book, it should have informed him that what is done in the dark will come to the light and the truth needs no support.

    ===================================================
Payroll taxes do NOT go towards the running expenses of this country. They go to fund the nearly bankrupt social security and medicare systems. These people pay NOTHING towards the maintenance of the government or defense of this country. They pay NOTHING for the court systems, federal law enforcement, military, parks, roads, bridges, highways, coast guard, and on and on.

They get that money back AND MORE when they retire. They likely get back FAR MORE than they pay in to boot!!

These people are NOT paying anywhere near their "fair share" for living in the greatest country on the planet.

Romney sadly chooses to associate with Marc Leder who is another profiteer that bankrupted companies while laying off American workers, not to mention Leder's questionable parties of wild frolic reported by the NY Post.

Right... tell that to Obama and the Democrats who cut them in 2010. The Obama Tax Cuts are all coming due in January so you should be very happy about that!

BTW, I believe about $680 BILLION of that goes to people making less than $250,000, NOT the "1%". That only accounts for about $80 billion a year. Why are you in favor of adding another $680 BILLION to the debt every year with these tax cuts?

Actually its called dollar devaluation coupled with massive FUTURE TAXES on your children and grandchildren.
Which there will never be enough to cover the current level of liberal spending that is killing the American dream.

A vote for Obama is a vote against America's children.

They're in a combat zone, and therefore exempt from paying federal income taxes. Every single one of them – including the 4-Star Generals/Admirals, and includes anyone just passing through on a flight. Land in-country, spend 2 hours on the ground in the plane or air terminal, and you're exempt from federal income taxes for the entire month.

The wealthy have been having their way with us for decades. It only became "CLASS WARFARE" when the little people started complaining.

They used to make 75 times what we do, now they make 700 times what we do. And they DON'T WORK. It's capital gains.

Something is wrong. They sit on profits, and lay people off from their jobs.

It's down-right Un-American. Maybe they should live in Syria, or Saudi.

Social security and medicare represent about 50% of the expenses of this country. Defense is the third big ticket item (around 20% if I remember correctly). The statement above is a clear representation of the attitude conservatives have about seniors collecting SS and Medicare benefits that they have EARNED. Freeloaders, eh? Seniors need to pay close attention to this stuff and also read the Ryan budget. It is clear that they have absolutely no intention of saving anything.
