(CNN) - CNN's Christine Romans fact-checks Mitt Romney's comments about the 47% of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes.

    Let's see, Romney receives tax breaks and advantages that amount to millions of dollars in hand-outs every single year. But for some reason he does not view that as a hand-out, as "free stuff". It's only a hand-out when the government is handing out tax breaks and benefits to other people.

    It's time for Romney to show 10 years of tax returns. If he's going to go around saying that half the country lacks personal responsibility, feels victimized and is living on hand-outs, then it's time for him to prove that he is not part of his own Class Of Dependency.

    Why is it that Robmey was fully aware of the entire video by 4pm eastern time yesterday?
    Staffers showed it to him at 4pm, but the video in its entire form was out f3 hours before that by David Corn at 1pm Eastern.
    Last night around 8pm Pacific is when the Robmey's announcement came out, said he has not seen the video (lie), never disputed the video( leads me to believe he remembers the incident, the party in May at Leder's residence quite well)
    Then says he could have said it more elegantly. No one on the GOP says anything about the video being a fake, but are sticking by the "Have Not Seen It Fully Yet", that won't fly.

    How? Ronald Reagan set it up, Rick. Your conservative dumbing down is on display.

    People should not have to pay income taxes on social security retirement checks. It would be a double tax. The money was taxed when it was first earned. The interest was taxed over the years. Taxing the income would be like taxing a withdrawal from your savings account at a bank. If you don't like that argument, then I suggest you take it up with Reagan.:)

    So, Ancient Texan. Tell the truth. Are YOU one of the 47% who doesn't take responsibility for their lives because they don't end up paying Federal Income Taxes? Mitt probably is...

    Do you need us to hold your hand and list all the other taxes, ther than income taxes, that the 47% pays? NOBODY pays "zero taxes." Mittens' nonsense was solely an assault on those who don't pay income taxes because it's so easy to confuse people with it and insinuate that those who pay no income taxes (a) pay no other taxes as well and (b) must obviously be healthy, labor-ready individuals who refuse to work. NEITHER IS EVEN REMOTELY TRUE OR ACCURATE..

  7. ThinkAgain: If you liked GW Bush's economic, military and foreign policies, vote for Mittens

    The people not paying income taxes are by and large the elderly and poor people.

    In other words, the folks Mittens doesn't care about.

    @Ancient Texan says –
    THomas-Just curious....which branch of service did Obama serve in? or Clinton?

    No branch. But neither did they, while safely ensconsed in their protective world as college students, go around vigorously promoting a war and encouraging others to volunteer to fight in it - a war in which they knew they would never have to fight. But now COMPARE to G. Bush, who - after the shameful display described above as a college student, immediately hid behind daddy's skirts when he graduated, and was allowed to go off on a drunken and drug-infested air-guard boyscout camp. I'll take Obama's and Clinton's non-service anyday over the chicken-s**t hypocrisy of your [R] leaders any day.

    Keep talking Ancient Texan.

    >SNIFFY - Capital gains taxes ARE NOT income taxes. That is a FACT, abundantly clear and inarguably written into our tax code

    But do you know why they are treated differently??? Come on tell the truth now Sniffy. There are very good and logical reasons for this. Come on, I'll let you explain it and come clean.

    ------
    Those collecting SS that have a certain level of other income (401(k) distributions, interest, dividends, pensions, annuities, etc.) have at least portion of their SS taxable. So what you're really saying is that it's perfectly acceptable to double tax SS – as long as you're double-taxing the "wealthy". Typical double standard.

    The red states (republican) have more people on welfare and foodstamps than the others. He's bad-mouthing mostly the ones that would listen to him. But then, FOX won't show the film, so they will never know.

    =============================================================================================
    No, we need you to explain why 47% of the people should be exempt from ANY tax that the other 53% must pay, and even worse, make up for the money that the 47% doesn't pay.

    At what percentage does the TAX FREE RIDING end? Or does it end? Will eventually it be 50-60% that pay nothing???? That appears to be the Democrat's goal to ensure permanent control of government (until it collapses and they blame it on somebody else).

    I'd lay money that yet another reason Mittens doesn't want to release his taxes is we'd see that there were years he was one of the 47% who didn't pay any taxes ...

    Manipulate the system, like Mittens and his $77,000 "business expense" for his wife's horse? Or do you mean the billions in subsidy that the oil industry receives? Or how about the billions awarded to Halliburton that has gone missing?

    These shysters?

    The amazing thing is most of the republicans here in Texas that I know don't pay any taxes either,but sure think they're part of the 1%

    They'll vote against themselves no matter what.

    Only to see their tax dollars go towards fighting wars in other countries under republicans..driving up the debt.

    But can't make the connection !

    Does it occur to some republicans that W racked up at least 10 trillion of our current debt and that 2-3 TRILLION went towards those wars ?

    Did the light ever go off to some of those republicans that 4 TRILLION of that debt went towards a tax cut THEY didn't see ?

    Wake up !

    Nobody pays ZERO taxes, not even the poor. The answer to your question is available if you would open your eyes instead of just blindly posting nonsense.
