Letterman: No hard feelings toward Romney

(CNN) - Late night comedian David Letterman says he isn't upset with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Rather, he feels sorry for him.

"I don't hate Mitt," Letterman said, referencing secretly-recorded comments Romney made at a fundraiser.

In the video posted online by left-leaning magazine Mother Jones, Romney talks about appearing on evening shows.

"I've been on Letterman a couple of times. I've been on Leno more than a couple times, and now Letterman hates me because I've been on Leno more than [on] him," Romney says. "They're very jealous of one another, as you know."

President Barack Obama, appearing on Letterman's show Tuesday, criticized Romney for other comments the candidate made in the fundraiser.

In an online advance clip of his Wednesday program, Letterman made light of the comments and invites Romney to appear on his show.

"I think now more than ever he and his lovely wife, Mrs. Mitt are more than welcome to come on the show," Letterman said. "If you think you're going to get to the White House, you've got to spend time in this chair."

He made a jab at his fellow late-night comedian, saying that he doesn't hate Romney for his appearances on Leno, because "why hate a guy who's suffered through that?"
Letterman also sized up the industry.

Television comedians, he joked, are "very jealous and bitter and backbiting... unlike politics."

They only like you if you can provide jokes for the opening monologue. If you do, then Leno, Letterman and others will like you.

I think Rmoney completely identified his problem when he said he doesn't want to be on "those shows." He simply cannot in any possible way relate to the rest of us. Letterman and Leno can, and do. Even if we watch them rarely, we feel at home when we do. They never take themselves too seriously.

  8. Reality for you

Letterman feels sorry for Romney? Romney has a lovely wife and family, has spent most of his life giving to charity and helping those in need, is a successful businessman, and Letterman feels SORRY for him? Envious is more like it...just like the other liberals.

JAY LENO JOKES ABOUT MITT ROMNEY ON HIS LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW: “Mitt Romney said the 47% of people who don’t pay taxes are going to vote for Obama. You know what that means? Mitt Romney is going to vote for Obama.”

This is what Obama needs to do – he needs to go on those shows like the View / Leno / Letterman & the list goes ON. If he doesn't, Obama's in big trouble, as far as getting re-elected. The majority of those people are in the 18 to 35 age bracket. They have no idea what's going on in the news. (local or world-wide) They're in their own little world. I wouldn't be surprised when the 18 to 35 group wakes up the day after the election, they will say that they "forgot" to Vote. If that happens, Obama's SUNK. This is also why those polls are mis-leading. The polls had Carter Up 4 or 5 points in 1980. And even one poll had Carter & Reagan dead even, all the way to election day. Well guess what ? People thought there was No Way an "actor" could defeat an incumbent sitting President. Reagan defeated Carter by a landslide, and Carter was a "One Termer" So – bottom line is : if this happens with this election, 'ol Mitch McConnell will have a permanent grin on his face for Life.

The truth is, Letterman is a Democratic Party supporter, and he orchestrated everything about his show for Obama, including making sure every single person in the audience was a specific type of Obama supporter.

Letterman is totally partisan, and his show is a disgrace, for such special orchestration for any candidate.

I think president Obama should be spending more time criticizing Eric Holder for the disaster of Fast & Furious and on how the death of our Ambassador Chris Stevens could have been prevented.

Amazing this is considered news... As long as CNN can keep up small headlines like this, Obama is sure to be re-elected. Good night journalism. Hello commentators.

Mitt Romney's skin is waaaaay too thin. If he thinks Letterman was being hard on him, I wonder what he thinks will happen in office ... sheesh! Obama weathered some pretty nasty press and media in his campaign and I never heard a snivel or a whine out of him.

Letterman is such a hasbeen. Obama should be doing his job-not trying to impress the young voters as a 'cool dude' -while getting paid BIG BUCKS by all of the tax payers. makes me sick.

    Mrs Mitt. Heh.

It's nice of Mr Letterman to feel sorry for Mitt. Personally I feel sorry for "Mrs Mitt" for being married to him. It's real pretty how Mr Romney would say he's going to "use Ann sparingly right now so that people don't get tired of her."

That's gotta make a lady feel great.

But he's not going to be in the White House, so he doesn't need to sit in that chair.

Romney's just not up to the task, that's all. Every time he open's his mouth it becomes more & more obvious. I'm sure he's a nice guy, good businessman... just not Presidential material.
