Obama and Romney campaigns buy more ad time in Wisconsin

Washington (CNN) - With the level of activity in Wisconsin picking up this week, both presidential campaigns have bought a second week of ad time there, a Republican source tracking media buys told CNN.

The Obama campaign has booked $353,000 for this week while Romney's has purchased $205,000.

Separately several super PACs, including Restore Our Future, which is backing Mitt Romney and Priorities USA Action, which is supporting President Obama, are now on the airwaves there.

Following the selection of Wisconsin native Paul Ryan as Romney's running mate, Republicans had hoped they could make the state a battleground. CNN currently rates it as a toss-up.

Several new polls show President Obama with varying leads in the state. CBS/New York Times/Quinnipiac University showed the president with a 6 point advantage 51% to 45% over Romney among likely voters while a Marquette University survey had the margin at 54% for Obama and 40% for Romney.

Obama is holding a rally there on Saturday. Both Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden campaigned there this week.

After Romney went up there for the first time in the general election campaign buying $360,000 worth of ad time, the Obama campaign also bought time there surpassing what the GOP nominee had purchased.

If Obama's spending money to defend Wisconsin, things can't be looking all that bright in their eyes. Didn't he win that state by double digits in 2008? Looks like "Hope & Change" hasn't helped them much after 4 years.

Based on the recent poll concerning response to Romney's video, looks like 20% of polled Americans are so redneck stupid that after viewing a video of someone stepping into a nearby, open cesspool, they would go out and take the plunge themselves. And 43% just don't care how stupid the other 20% are.

Ryan and Romney are both proven blatant liars - ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Romney saw an average person one time, and he got his buddies to help hold him down and cut his hair.

Romney led a blind man Into a door (that hurt him) and then laughed about it.

That's not what we need for this nation, nor do we need him to represent us on the international scene.

Hardest working false equivalency in "news."

Good job generalizing those polled Americans, to whom you know nothing about.

So if Obama wins this state will it mean he bought the election because it went to the highest bidder.?
We are pawns to the DNC and RNC.

What hasn't helped us is Governor Scott Walker - the WI economy was hold it's own until Walker's slash-and-burn budget went into effect in June 2011. Obama's policies were working fine for us until then.

Truthfully, after all the political advertising that came with the recalls I was hoping we would miss the "honor" of swing state status this election cycle. But then presidential advertising that might seem heavy in another state will probably seem light to us after Gov. Walker's $60 million deluge last June.

I just hope President Obama has coattails this time. "Senator Tammy Baldwin" has a nice ring to it, as does "Private Citizen Paul Ryan." :-)

Why is Obama wasting money in Wisconsin? Didnt he just see that CNN has called that race already? Heck he already won the general election. Its over. Can they please just stop with the annoying commercials. Its football season.

The President leads in all of the swing states. Romney leads in those states where cousins are likely to marry and scurvy is still a problem.

Anybody looking at the trends would know that independents are flooding towards President Obama's message. Since Romney has no message beyond lies and distortions, offers no specifics about his extensive promises, considers 47% of Americans useless parasites, independents are making their decisions for the President's re-election. Maybe it's unwise to run a couple of spoiled fat-cats, with no platform (except killing Medicare), and having them tell lies and insult people in the U.S. and overseas... Who knew?

I'm impressed by the level of discourse here. Outstandingly bad.

That said, the fact that Obama is investing money there is interesting; the fact that he's investing TIME there is indicative of much more. The internal polling results the campaigns are mapping to their voter databases are likely showing this to be a much closer race than that bad 54/40 Marquette poll which has a respondent ID of 26R-34D-38I (D+8)

In 2008 it was 33R-39D-29I (D+6) according to CNN exits. It's unlikely Obama will recapitulate that, much less EXCEED 2008 this year. Given the 2010 and recall outcomes, 2004's extremely close race exits of 38R-35D-27I (R+3) are a good data point to bookend with 2008.

There is no other country in the western world that has circus like elections as in America.
Obscene amounts of money are used to sway people and the media picks and chooses what to report with little integrity at times .
I can't remember the last time that Obama held a press conference , the country needs strong leadership at this time and not some goofball sitting on a talk show laughing and joking.
Never mind that he didn't even know the amount of the national debt , it would have surprised me if he did.
