Washington (CNN) - Republican lawmakers Thursday complained to Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz that his report on Operation Fast and Furious was "too soft" on the head of the Criminal Division, one of Attorney General Eric Holder's top assistants.
Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer was criticized in the nearly 500-page report issued Wednesday for failing to follow up on internal documents showing use of flawed tactics in the controversial gun trafficking investigation on the Arizona-Mexico border.

The sad truth is Arizona's almost completely nonexistant gun control laws (passed by the GOP) created the situation whereby criminals and drug lords could use "straw buyers", usually the homeless, to buy guns for them. That the BATF did not stop these weapons from "walking" to their real buyers is disturbing- but they were seeking the criminals who supplied the cash- not the straw buyers themselves, just as they had done under the Bush Administration. Had Arizona had reasonable background checks at gun stores, pawn shops and gun shows, criminals couldn't exploit this situation. The way the GOP tells it you'd think Holder was standing in Nogales handing out assualt weapons, and viola! people got shot. Their world is just so different.
Those repugs hate it when the facts get in the way of their agenda.

The GOP wastes its time with this meaningless, manufactured F&F 'scandal'. The GOP/TP is more concerned about the death of ONE border control agent, by a murderous criminal in a drug gang, than they were/are about the THOUSANDS of brave men and women dying in Iraq and Afganistan. Those deaths were conjured up from WMD lies and criminals (GWB and Cheney) who have yet to be prosecuted.
