Obamas sit comfy on 'The View' couch, Romney also to appear

(CNN) – President Barack Obama appears more comfortable sharing "The View's" famed couch with the show's five female hosts than Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

The show announced Thursday both the president and first lady Michelle Obama will appear on the couch next Tuesday in an interview to be taped Monday. The president and the first lady have appeared a number of times on the couch individually but next week's interview marks the couple's first joint interview on the show.

Romney called the ABC morning talk show "high risk" in a secretly recorded video taken at a high-dollar fund-raiser in May pointing to the political affiliations of the co-hosts which includes only one conservative. Since the release of the videos, however, Romney has agreed to appear on the couch in October as announced by Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the show Wednesday. Romney also appeared on "The View" in 2010.

"'The View' is high risk because of the five women on it. The other four are sharp tongued and not conservative, Whoopi Goldberg in particular," Romney told donors in Boca Raton, Florida earlier in the summer adding "Although the last time I was on the show, she said to me, 'You know what? I think I could vote for you.' And I said, 'I must have done something really wrong.'"

Romney also said in the video he's also staying away from the comedy show "Saturday Night Live" "because you want to show that you are fun and you're a good person, but you also want to appear presidential."

Romney was critical of "The View" in the video, which was posted by the liberal magazine Mother Jones to its website earlier this week. The resulting firestorm of criticism came primarily from Democrats but some from Romney's own party. Also among the candidate's remarks that stirred controversy were comments about nearly half of the population automatically supporting the president because they are dependent on the government and consider themselves victims as well as his perceived advantage in the race if he were of Hispanic descent.

Ann Romney will also hit the talk show circuit, appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" next Tuesday.

CNN's Dana Davidsen contributed to this report.

This is perfect for Obama, one more thing to waste time and have an excuse as to why things didn't get done. Obama will love being on The View, he can talk, talk, talk like the great salesman that he is. I don't think anyone tops Obama in sales.

Ummm...when I said "goofy blonde one" I was referring to Elisabeth Hasslebeck, not Queen Ann.

    Absolutely Sniffit.
A mother bear has NOTHING on a Michelle Obama.
To tell you the truth I was holding my breath when Clinton hit the stage at the DNC.
I feared for his life if he went "south" with his speech a la 2008.
Know what I mean? Wink! Wink!
Michelle wasn't having it then, and she certainly wasn't putting up with any shenanigans now.
Great family. God bless them always.

Maybe some of you Obama worshipers should tell him that that America is under seige in the Middle East and Americans are being killed and the American flag is being burned.
But I guess that is ok because he has stopped govt. employees from wearing flag lapel pins.

"Dominican mama 4 Obama" and Sniffit had time to stay home and watch the entertainer-in-chief get Scmoozed by the old Lib bags and one good looking conservative blond. How nice for you. Meanwhile, those of us who work for a living have to reply late to your idiotic remarks. I guess enough said....

The President is an outstanding speaker – a magnificent statesman. Romney is a fumbling, flip-flopping fool and Lyin' Ryan a pathological liar – the final clowns from the GOP Clown Car of 2012. The debates will be the final nail in a coffin Romney is building for himself with his over-active pie-hole, a complete lack of specifics, no tax returns, and total disconnect with the middle-class.

"This is perfect for Obama, one more thing to waste time and have an excuse as to why things didn't get done."

You actually need to speak to the obstructionist Congress about that. Yesterday, they voted against a jobs bill that would have provided opportunities for more of our veterans. Several of the even wrote portions of the Bill and then voted against it! If you want to talk about wasted time, ask the Midwest farmers who are still waiting for a farm bill while the House plays games with the ACA and gay marriage bills! The President cannot sign a jobs bill or a farm bill until the Congress decides to stop playing politics with our veterans and drought-stricken farmers!

@my views,Pres.Obama is a people person, not that out of touch Mormon moron Romney.I think the ladies on the "VIEW" should bring on his relatives all the way from Mexico, wouldn't that be great and after he's resuscitated he can hug them all and cry, nothing like family unions!!But I'm just a sick democratic voter thinking with my demented mind how to rid the world of the Mormon bishop once and for all,hey give his Mexican relatives his homes addresses too,its easier for them at surprise dropins, especially at Christmas!!!How's that for foriegn policy,TACO VIVA!!!

Mitt seems to hate women that are assertive calling the four women that are not conservative sharp tongued. Good grief not every woman wants to be a stepford wife. Of course Mitt looks down on anyone that does not agree with him and is not rich.

I'm sure that the President and his beautiful First Lady will be poised and eloquent on the show. They are both so approachable and personable.
As for the Romneys, I hope that the ladies, especially Whoopi, rip them to shreds!
