Ann Romney lashes back at conservative critics

(CNN) – Ann Romney has a message for her husband's conservative critics: try walking a mile in her husband's shoes.

"Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring," she said in a Thursday interview with Radio Iowa.

Several high-profile conservative commentators have criticized Romney's recent campaign tactics, topping off a tough week for the Republican presidential nominee. Earlier in the week, a left-leaning magazine released secretly recorded clips of Mitt Romney speaking at a May fundraiser which dominated the week's political news coverage. Last week, the Romney campaign struggled in its response to violence in several Arab countries with left the American ambassador to Libya and several others dead.

Peggy Noonan, whose conservative columns appear in The Wall Street Journal, hit Romney's campaign, calling it "incompetent." In another column published after Ann Romney's Radio Iowa interview, Noonan stood by her comments and dealt another blistering blow, saying her word choice was "only because I was being polite. I really meant 'rolling calamity.'"

And Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative publication The Weekly Standard, likened Barack Obama and Mitt Romney as "two presidential candidates who - when they thought they were speaking privately to their fellow 1 percenters - have shown contempt for fellow Americans."

In his comments at the secretly recorded event, Romney said 47% of the electorate viewed themselves as victims and were dependent upon government support, and therefore would vote for Obama.

In her Thursday interview, Ann Romney said she does not let the criticism "sink in."

"You hear it and then you just let it go right by; you are used to it," she said. "Honestly, at this point, I'm not surprised by anything."

Romney said the election this year is important and "it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country."

Many of the same naysayers said he ran the primaries wrong as well. They are thinking checkers while Romney is playing chess and 8 moves ahead. I want a winner for President, not a blamer and a whiner.

Will someone please tell her to "stay in her swim lane"?

Anne, despite all the puffery around you & Mitt as a team, despite the fact tha you said that YOU & Mitt selected Paul Ryan as VEEP, you, Mrs. Romney, ARE NOT running for office so we`ve reached the limit of tolerating input from you. If America didn`t tolerate Mrs. Obama, the Havard Law School graduate putting her hands in the mix, what qualifies you? Please no more of your whining.

It's so hard trying to convince people believe in everything when you really don't believe in anything at lall. Cut the CEO a break, he has never had to answer to anyone before.

"How lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience".I don't think the electorate knows how lucky they are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience Lady Ann,if only he did not shred his records of salt olympics, and wiped his records as Massachusets gov.,it would have helped them to know how lucky they are to have Mitt.I'm at a loss why he had to shred, and wipe his 'sterling' records.Any guess?

Please non working wife. Back in May when your twit of a husband didn't want to saturated the airwaves with you because he didn't want for people to get tired of you or attack you was too late.
Why don't you go to La Jolla and start those plans for razing your mansion to build another one. You know, the one with elevators for cars? Better yet, how about going riding on that $77,000 tax deduction horse that you own but are too busy to ride for your pity vote MS?
You will never be able to shine Mrs. Obama's shoes. She has more class and better taste in clothes and she is genuine. You sound like a sour old witch rich witch who thinks she deserves to the first lady!

Mrs. Romney is correct. Running for office is hard. I would like to see Rushlimbaugh run for elected office and fail at it. There is something to be said for running office.

Not only do the Romneys have contempt for the 47% of Americans they believe are losers looking for a handout or to freeload off of their stuff, they also don't care for people who don't subscribe 100% to their worldview. I think the person propping up Mitt is his wife and she's going to a whole lot more meddlesome than Hillary was in the Clinton presidency if those two people ever get into the White House.

If you think its hard now then you need to quit while you can. you have no idea how hard it's going to get. Walk in his shoes? sure, not a problem, just hand over the money and I'll be glad to. I believe 47% of us can do a better job at it than mitt ROB ME.
