(CNN) – Ann Romney has a message for her husband's conservative critics: try walking a mile in her husband's shoes.
"Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring," she said in a Thursday interview with Radio Iowa.

Several high-profile conservative commentators have criticized Romney's recent campaign tactics, topping off a tough week for the Republican presidential nominee. Earlier in the week, a left-leaning magazine released secretly recorded clips of Mitt Romney speaking at a May fundraiser which dominated the week's political news coverage. Last week, the Romney campaign struggled in its response to violence in several Arab countries with left the American ambassador to Libya and several others dead.
Peggy Noonan, whose conservative columns appear in The Wall Street Journal, hit Romney's campaign, calling it "incompetent." In another column published after Ann Romney's Radio Iowa interview, Noonan stood by her comments and dealt another blistering blow, saying her word choice was "only because I was being polite. I really meant 'rolling calamity.'"
And Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative publication The Weekly Standard, likened Barack Obama and Mitt Romney as "two presidential candidates who - when they thought they were speaking privately to their fellow 1 percenters - have shown contempt for fellow Americans."
In his comments at the secretly recorded event, Romney said 47% of the electorate viewed themselves as victims and were dependent upon government support, and therefore would vote for Obama.
In her Thursday interview, Ann Romney said she does not let the criticism "sink in."
"You hear it and then you just let it go right by; you are used to it," she said. "Honestly, at this point, I'm not surprised by anything."
Romney said the election this year is important and "it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country."

Queen Ann
To: Ann Romney
It's really hard when you have to defend someone that doesn't have a clue, and that someone is your husband !
The elitist princess must be obeyed! The nerve of "you people!"
With apologies to Mrs. Romney, but boo, hoo. Pres. Obama has been called a socialist, marxist, communist, not born in the U.S. and Muslim. And those are just the ones I can get past a moderator here.
If I were her, I would avoid ALL media for the next 45 days, because it will only get worse.
Stop it? She can't even accept criticism from her own side! She is a clueless, spoiled, brat that really needs to go work in a soup kitchen in Memphis for a few weeks around the Christmas holidays and then come back and talk to the US about what hard is. But I guess she's too busy riding her prancing horse for such nonsense.....what a complete failure at life. But she doesn't let that sink in....as if there's anything in their for it to sink into...
Dream on, Ann.
I'm already tired of her.
*in THERE for it to sink into (still early!)...
Ann Romney It goes the other way too, If you want ot get in the ring you better know what you are doing or you'll get knocked out in no time!!!!!
Shameless woman! Instead of apologizing for her husband's pathetic conduct, she is screaming at others to cover up for him. What else can be expected from Mitt & Ann, with their disdain for most Americans. And if they can't handle pressure, they shouldnt plan to be in the White House.
That's what she said.
As the old saying goes... if you can't stand the heat, then get the hell out of the kitchen. Because you have now alienated the media Mrs. Romney, the heat is really going to get turned up.
“47%” , “stop it”, “I like to fire people”, and “corporations are people”
Nearly 66% Americans views Romney doesn’t understand their problems “out of tough”
“This is hard.” They chose to run for office we didn’t force them
My view Romney campaign is over
Stop it. The queen has spoken.
Face it, Ann. In 50 years your husband will be a couple of line items in Wikipedia, and most of his conservative critics will be totally forgotten. Most conservative political commentators are like movie critics.
Most movie critics sold one script that got totally panned and figure they can pan every other movie that comes out. Most conservative political commentators may have one an office once, then lost big time at another, so they can pass the blame for their failure on every other politician who does not meet their own failed standards.
On that note, let Willard keep wearing those $3,000 suits and sporting those $200 haircuts, and you keep wearing those $900 designer tops, and don't worry about us in the 99.97% that you have no clue how we live. You and he will do fine.
Ann you believe me we are not in love with your husband like you are and we see right through him. I know it must be hard to hear all the attacks on your husband, try calling Michelle Obama and asking her how she deal with all the cruel, hatefulness from the right!!!
cracking under the pressure already...........................
I have to give one advise to Ann Romney though she didn't ask me to do it. Stay away from war with media. You will never win. If you want to prove me wrong, please ask Sarah Palin!
Peggy Noonan obviously needs attention and has strayed from President Reagan's 11th Amendment: Thou shall not speak ill of another Republican (presidential candidate). She obviously knows that the liberal press and media will focus on HER rather than the disaster facing America if an incompetent president and administration that has bankrupt America is given another 4 years. The lies and incompetence exhibited by the Obama administration on both economic and foreign policy (terrorism) issues should give Ms. Noonan enough material to focus on rather than knowingly drawing attention to herself. It looks as if her career will continue to go downhill and she'll probably be remembered as the "Jane Fonda" of the Conservative Movement rather then one of President Ronald Reagan's speech writers. For what it is worth, anyone who has read "The Reagan Diaries" would draw the conclusion that President Reagan did not need speech writers. He was very effective, principled, and polite - something that other writers who knew him should have acquired if they spent any time with the former president.
LMAO!! All Romney has to do is say what his plan is to create 12 million jobs in 4 years, stay focus and dont bounce around on his message and also dont FLIP FLOP!! But then again we are talking about Mittens here.
"Ann Romney has a message for her husband's conservative critics: try walking a mile in her husband's shoes. "
Is she talking about those custom made soft Italian leather shoes that at least 47% of us can't afford?
Is she talking about those shoes of money wealth and privilege?
I hate to hear the rich and powerful whine about how tough their life is
"it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country."
Well, golly gee. Us Americans are just darn lucky to have Mitt as a candidate, aren't we.
Queen Ann: "We've given you people enough. You people will get nothing else. Now, STOP IT! This is hard! King Willard is doing the best he can."
I thought this was the lady who was supposed to make Mitt look like he is more in touch with reality.
So previously she had the 'you people' thing...now it's that all Americans have to realize how lucky we are that her husband is running?
Hey Ann, news flash, we don't have to believe we're lucky. Your husband filed to run in 2008 on his second-to-last day as Governor. So you've been either in office (with a 30% approval rating) or running for office since 2002. You know what this is like. If you make mistakes, you take heat. "Stop it" isn't how this system works.
Either win the election or take your loss gracefully. But don't whine.
Oh go home Ann and stop your crying – boo hoo. What a phoney snob. Peggy Noonan is right – Romney is incompetent. And why does he always have to screech when he speaks...
