Ethics panel set to clear Rep. Maxine Waters

Washington (CNN) - The House Ethics Committee prepared Friday to dismiss charges of alleged wrongdoing against California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, ending a tumultuous investigation that lasted roughly three years and may have cost taxpayers up to $1.3 million.

Waters has been accused of improperly seeking government assistance for OneUnited Bank, a minority-owned bank in which her husband held a financial interest, during the 2008 financial meltdown. The bank received $12 million in bailout funds.

Lovely. Makes you wonder whether the GOP will just suggest changing the rules next time so that we can just use the drowning test....if she drowns, she was innocent, if not, then guilty.

Darryl Issa has wasted so much time and money on these witch hunts trying so hard to embarass the Democrats. He should have spent that money and time on job creation policies. He has little to show for his time in Congress. What a waste.

Millions more to conduct this investigation. It makes one wonder who is making the accusations and if they really have the proof to back up their accusation. Just another reason to vote in new peoplel who are not so paranoid.

Those republicans will use any excuse to get out of working for us for three years -- and then say "oh well" as they leave on vacation.

Another Issa witch-hunt that cost taxpayers millions. Issa should personally pay the money back for the trumped-up cases he's been involved with.

I used to really feel Maxine Waters was the "enemy" of any sane thinking person with some of her rants. Now? Now I know she got railroaded and had a vendetta placed on her to take her out. It's good to see this clearing but her name and reputation has already been tarnished. But Maxine, if you write a tell all book one day about what you know and just a portion of what caused your takedown, it should be a best seller.
