Romney campaign invites financial supporters to New York City retreat

Washington (CNN) - The Romney campaign is inviting major donors and bundlers to a fall retreat set for October in New York City, CNN has learned.

According to an invitation, obtained by CNN, financial backers are invited to events spanning three days day scheduled to coincide with the second presidential debate, which is being held on Long Island, New York.

The retreat, which is seemingly patterned over a similar event held in June in Park City, Utah, starts with a dinner on Monday Oct. 15th and then includes three sessions the next day discussing various facets of the campaign and a debate watch party that night. The sessions are entitled "Campaign and Strategy Briefing," "Issues Facing America," and "Media Panel – The Final Three Weeks."

No word on who may participate in these panels, but if the Park City event is any indication it will probably be some of the top officials of the campaign as well as leading voices in the Republican Party. Several hundred major donors and bundlers attended the Utah gathering, which not only featured a speech by Mitt Romney himself but appearances by Sen. John McCain, former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, Sen. Rob Portman, Gov. Bobby Jindal and eventual running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.

There is no official word about whether Romney or Ryan will attend all or part of this retreat.

These kinds of events also allow the top money backers of the campaign to mingle and interact with key decision makers of the campaign.

"As we enter the home stretch, we want to thank you for your support of the Romney Victory effort. We would not have reached this point without the help from generous donors like you; and Governor Romney and conservatives across this country are extraordinarily grateful for all you have done. We are excited to announce the details for a few of the activities that we have planned between now and Election Day," Romney national finance chairman Spencer Zwick said in an email to financial backers Thursday inviting them to this retreat.

I wonder how many folks running superPACs will attend. Several attended the Park City event.

Ahhh... A bunch of rich white folks from the 1% getting to spend some time with the candidate they're buying. Maybe they can show a film of poor people doing disgusting things... like working two jobs, eating cheap food, doing without healthcare, riding public transportation, going to public schools and wearing old clothes. That should get a big laugh!

Romney's used very little of his donors money...WHERE IS IT? Outsourced to Cayman Islands, Swiss Bank Accounts???

Good luck with that Mr. Romney. Wall Street investors usually don't invest unless it is a sure bet. This week proved that you are simply too inept (even though your wife says "this is so hard") to be President.

Romney is more interested in raising funds than campaigning. When will he get specific on the issues? They keep telling us to wait.

I doubt we will get a video this time from this rich donor party. Would be fun to see, though ...

I bet they won't have $800 bottles of champagne to guzzle while pandering to the poor folk. Or former dope dealers to serve it. Demos are frauds.

Let's see those tax returns, lyin Ryan too.

What is the problem? Reid got it correct? You got all the loopholes and for years no federal taxes?

Well, Mitt DID tell his fundraising playmates that he's "poor as a church mouse" didn't he? So, yeah, I guess money is the most important thing to Mitt Romney at this stage in his campaign. He's pretty much lost all respect of voters already.

By October, the "retreat" of Romney/Ryan should be pretty much complete, so maybe these well heeled NY finance people will spend the dollars they have saved by paying lower, or no, taxes, on creating jobs, instead of buying infuence with Captain Zero and his sidekick, the Untrustworthy Kid.

@myviewis - did you notice the diversity of the names you mentioned.

The thing I like about the dems is that it is a big tent – EVERYONE is included and that also means the 47%

What does this tell you that the Romney Campaign is tweaking it's message yet again -– the Answer - whatever mud they are slinging is not sticking on the wall, Herman Cain says if he was in Romney's shoes that he would be leading in the polls and Republicans are getting nervous in their corners. My take- Mitt Romney and his fellow Republicans cannot fool all of the people all of the time and the weapons to cause self destruction has become more visible on the table.

But you're okay with Beyonce, Eva Langoria, Sarah Jessica Parker, George Clooney, Wall Street that always supports Democrats, right????????? Typical Hypocrite Democrat.
    ***********************************
I don't recall any of the celebrities you mentioned ridiculing the poor, the disadvantaged, so there is a critical difference. Success does not always breed contempt, unless you are a GOP candidate, kissing up to donors at a 50K-a-plate dinner. By the way, Wall Street has flipped to Romney on their support, so, once again, you got it wrong. Typical reality-challenged republican.

Safe to say not one 47%er will be invited to this event.

Campaign and Strategy Briefing- Lower taxes for the wealthy and jobs will fall out of the sky
Issues Facing America- Koch Bros and Adelson buying the Whitehouse
Media Panel- How do we keep Mitts mouth shut

Good idea... rake in as much money as possible to get the job done Romney. The Obama smear and lie machine will be in high gear and they get a LOT of free positive coverage by their backers. the Lame Street Media.

and you would think that if this group were going to be victims of Obama's "soshulist" plan, they'd not support him. I guess some rich people believe that they can help the country by paying a little more

    WILLARD SHOW US THE RETURNS

Maybe some of his supporter can get him to release 10 years of tax returns. The voters want to know if he actually paid taxes for all of the last 10 years.
