Romney makes Clinton joke–in front of Clinton

(CNN) - Mitt Romney cracked wise about former President Bill Clinton Tuesday, seconds after the 42nd president introduced the Republican nominee at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City.

"Thank you, Mr. President. I appreciate the kind words and your invitation here today. If there's one thing we've learned this election season, it's that a few words from Bill Clinton can do any man a lot of good," Romney said, drawing laughs.

His quip likely refers to a couple Clinton comments during this campaign year. On CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" in May, Clinton referred to Romney as having had a "sterling business career," a comment capitalized on by the Republican's campaign.

More often his words have been used to boost the current president. Clinton, a top surrogate for Obama, gave a widely-praised speech at the Democratic National Convention earlier this month, spending 48 minutes making the case for a second term for President Barack Obama.

In fact, more viewers of the DNC considered Clinton to be the highlight of the weeklong event, rather than Obama, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll. Some political analysts credited the president's mild post-convention bounce in the polls to Clinton's rousing speech.

Romney, however, poked fun at the Clinton factor while kicking off his foreign policy speech Tuesday.

"After that introduction, I guess all I have to do is wait a day or two for the bounce," Romney said, drawing laughs.

Romney is like the weather... if you don't like what he says... (and the polls show it) wait a day or so and he'll
change his position.. wonder if he realizes his total disrespect for people in general and the office of the President just makes him look worse and worse.. Just be quiet Mitt, when you're in a hole, stop digging.

This one should be tough for the supporters of the current regime to swallow....AND it comes from ABC NEWS U.S.A. Bridges and Roads Being Built by Chinese Firms Shocking to say the least! This video is a jaw-dropper that will make you sick. (It was also shocking that ABC was actually reporting this story.) The lead-in with Obama promising jobs in the U.S. by improving our infrastructure is so typical of all his promises! Our tax dollars are at work- for CHINA !!! I pray all the unemployed see this and cast their votes accordingly in 2012! CLICK here: U.S. Bridges, Roads Being Built by Chinese Firms | Video – ABC News

Really? Because the job creators called in sick. I'm pretty sure they're playing hooky in their mansions, watching the wide-screen TV with the Republicans and complaining about the scab refs. Well, actually just about the scab refs' calls, because I think we all know that Republicans and job creators love scabs so much that they'll take their businesses around the world just to hire them, and then cry crocodile tears about how lousy the game has become here.

    Hey Duane,

And you Repugs pick a president because he can repeat the same lie, no matter how outlandish, so many times that not only he but you believe it. Talk about a total lack of logic or intelligence.

@Duane – factcheck something before you repost and expose how ignorant you are.

No. A viral email distorts an ABC News report. California officials hired a Chinese contractor and rejected federal money to avoid federal “Buy American” laws.

This was Texas, not the feds or Obama who made that decision. In Texas, the reddest of the red states, we love outsourcing to foreign countries. Rick Perry's proposed trans-Texas corridor toll road would have been owned and operated by a Spanish company. It was only defeated because land owners in South Texas objected to the use of imminent domain to acquire the right of way.

Typical Republican fear tactics. "Thou shalt not lie". I thought that was important to conservatives?

Don't worry, Mittens. It will all be over soon and you can go back to your millions and your servants and your Cadillacs and your private aircraft and not have to worry about us ordinary folk and our simple ways.

Texas Republicans have no problem outsourcing highway construction to foreing companies. As George W. Bush said, "Outsourcing is good for America".

Rick Perry's proposed Trans Texas Corrider would have been a toll road, owned and operated by a Spanish company.

It only failed because wealthy south Texas landowners objected to the use of imminent domain to acquire the right of way.

Big business owns this country and calls the shots. Government is in place to give us the illusion of choice while the 1% take over. Once the corporations have everything just the way they want it, they will throw everyone under the bus. Whether you were Democrat or Republican won't matter. Whether you helped them or opposed them won't matter. Whether they got you elected or not won't matter. We'll all become their indentured servants. Back to the 13th century with us all. There will be landowners (corporations)and serfs (the rest of us). No one can stop it. It is inevitable.
