Entire Obama ad made from controversial Romney remarks

(CNN) – The latest ad from President Barack Obama's re-election campaign pulls exclusively from secretly recorded comments Mitt Romney made calling Americans reliant on government assistance "victims."

Obama's campaign says the 30-second commercial will air in New Hampshire, Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada and Colorado. It features Romney's comments, which were made at a fund-raiser in May but not revealed until last week, over pictures of working-class Americans.

"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney is heard saying in the clip. "Who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. And they will vote for this president no matter what."

Adding to his argument about entitlement, Romney said his "job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

The spot is the second from Obama's campaign going after Romney for his secretly recorded comments. The first, which was released earlier this week, also used a narrator to hammer home the Obama team's message.

"Doesn't the President have to worry about everyone?" the narrator asked in the earlier spot.

Romney has defended his remarks, saying they were meant as political analysis rather than an expression of governing philosophy.

"What I'm talking about is a political process," Romney told ABC News Wednesday. "I don't expect to get 100% of the vote, I know I'm not going to get 100%, I hope to get 50 plus percent and make sure that I become the next president. That's what my campaign is focused on. Get those numbers so I could become president and help all the people in the country."

CNN's Paul Steinhauser and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

Show us the rest of the tax returns, Romney, and prove you're not hypocritically part of the 47%.

Don't trust what Mitt is hiding.

It seems to me that the Republicans can be show in black and white where they are totally wrong and they only seem to want to twist the news into an unrelated comment by "the other side". Gale is a prime example, but supposed politicians do it too, including the Mittser himself. Caught on tape saying that the rest of us unwashed are lazy lay abouts, He side-stepped and double-spoke trying to make it seem that he really WASN'T saying exactly what he did say.

The habit isn't isolated to the Republicans, but I would wager that if any sort of "fair and balanced" (I guess that leaves out FAUX News!!) assessment is done over history, the right would have a much larger pile of doo-doo than the left by huge margins.

I've seen this ad and it is by far the most effective to date. However, I still get tickled by the Romney singing America the Beautiful ad.

Romneys own words are what is killing him......What else does the Democratic Party have to run against him, he hasn't put forth any thing about how he is going to solve our problems, he just keeps say what he plans to do without giving any details......and for God Sake using his own words against him is just as right and good as it is for Romney/Ryan to use lies, taking Obama's words out of context, at least Obama is using Romney's own words against him.......

You could make a half hour ad with only quotes of Romney, and yes include also Ryan, on about every issue they talked about. It would point out the lies, the changing positions, and the complete hypocrisy of these two, and...their complete lack of empathy for the average American. After watching this ad you would wonder why anyone with some level of sanity would still vote for Romney, pathetic and very sad.

I want to see Romney's comment about the emergency room as health care repeated. Likewise his praise of Chinese sweatshops should get some air time.

Gale says "Obama has to make derrogatory remarks about Romney, because he has nothing to claim as a success on his 4 years in office."

Gale, you're right. By the way, I'm bringing a few hundred friends of mine to your workplace. Whatever it is you do, we'll make it impossible. If you flip burgers we'll put a fence in front of the grill. And then, when your boss wants to know why there are no burgers, we'll tell him you are terrible at your job and suggest he fire you and hire us. If you play basketball, we'll stand on a ladder and lay over the hoop so the ball can't go through. Then we'll tell your coach you are a terrible player and we should take your spot on the team. And no one will seem to notice that we're only about one thing: getting you the heck out of there. And then geniuses just like you will say "Yeah, she really has to go!" Hey, Gale, why don't you ever mention that many in the GOP are on record/video saying the whole thrust of the GOP should be getting Obama out of office. That's the second most disgusting and disheartening part of the story. The MOST? That people like you parrot the charge at every opportunity. You're either not as bright as you think or you're willfully engaging in political deception. Nice.

I saw this ad... And the speech was edited to give a more negative view towards america from Romneys perspective. Yes he definitely could of found a better way to word his expression in his message. But Iv'e learned in life, don't listen to, or believe what one says about another. Especially when it involves a race for presidency. When I see these ads it just shows me how far one will go to gain power, both republicans and democrats do this. And frankly, i feel neither are qualified to be president at this time. My vote will be undecided until the day before election day.

Interesting how anyone can attempt to defend his comments. He said and he even doubled downed a few times about what he said. Even more telling is that his comments are pretty much the everyday talking points you hear on talk radio.

And for those of you who say Obama has no record to run on, think again and look at the polls. You will see you are now in the minority... Another 4 years !

The truth is Mr. Romney has no plan. He just wants to go back to Bush era policies. Really, does anyone think that turned out well?

Politics is great entertainment. The Romney campaign is really outdoing all other previous campaigns. They not only produce material their own campaign. They also produce material for their opponent's campaign.

The only reason Romney want to be president is to de-regulate everything so he and his buddies can make more money. If he really believed in America he and his greedy buddies would be investing in American jobs instead of sitting on piles of money they made off of raiding american companies in the first place.

    To Judy & Marty

Regarding Romney's tax returns. Have you not been reading or listening to the news? Romney did release a lot tax information and after a complete review by tax experts, they determined he did everything by the book and paid a huge amount of taxes as well as a very large amount towards charitable donations.

Of course people like you will still continue to demand his tax returns because that is what the Obama campaign wants you to do. They have trained you well I might say.

Of course you will say that his charitable donations of millions probably went to his church as tithing which may be true but that IS a legal tax deduction and everybody does that. Charitable donations to his church does not pay for cars or buildings, it goes to feeding the needy and providing assistance to those who need it such as those displaced during natural disasters but I am sure you will find a way to spin that as well as a bad thing.

Keep up the bad work. You doing a fine job

    @Truth Hurts.

I am one of Obama's economic victims- my 401K has improved and my salary is the same. Yes, I been layed off, but am back to work. Also, my debt is a little lighter.

If you are blaming the President for deaths under his watch. You must hate Bush. Are do you not understand he is getting us out of these wars and changing the dynmics of the world.

I left the Republican Party in 1992 after I graduated college and got a better perspective of the world.

Romney's newly found empathy for the poor and working class is simply not believable. His true feelings for the 47% were expressed to rich donors in the video. Romney/Ryan tax reform plan is income REDISTRIBUTION...transferring more wealth from the middle class to the 1%.

I have to wonder if those who cry about "government funded education" are aware that the government doesn't fund education. It guarantees that student loan underwriters will get their $$$ if the student defaults on loan repayment. However, the government doesn't pay the loan – they allow the bank to seize tax returns and any other funds that may come from a government entity, such as wages and military retirement pay. IMO the government should force educational institutions to underwrite their own loans. This would prevent Americans from being taken advantage of by diploma mills who will take any warm body if they can get $$$, regardless of whether the warm body is capable of doing the job.
