Planned Parenthood hits Romney in Virginia mailboxes

Washington (CNN) - Swing state television airwaves are already saturated with ads, and now - with early voting soon to be underway in several states - mailboxes are starting to fill up as well.

Voters in Virginia this week received a glossy mailer from Planned Parenthood Action Fund warning that Republican nominee Mitt Romney would "turn back the clock" for women if elected.

– Check out the CNN Electoral Map and Calculator and game out your own strategy for November.

The two-sided mail piece portrays Romney inside a primitive 1950s-looking television set and highlights his proposal to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood and his support for overturning Roe vs. Wade.

"Mitt Romney would go too far and interfere in a woman's personal medical decisions," reads the mailer, provided to CNN by a voter in the Richmond area who received it.

It's a potent message in Virginia, where a recent Washington Post poll showed President Obama holding a nearly 20-point advantage over Romney among women.

Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg responded to the mailers, saying women "can't afford" four more years of Obama.

“More false and dishonest attacks from President Obama’s allies can’t hide his failed record," Henneberg said. "President Obama’s policies have made it more difficult for women to start businesses, keep more money in the bank, or see their children graduate with good jobs on the horizon."

I guess all the Fox watchers like Billy Bob Barefoot down in Dogpatch really believe the nonsense Mitt is spewing. Give Mitt a couple of more days and he'll be on the side of Planned Parenthood if he thinks he can garner a couple of votes.

So Planned Parenthood, are our federal tax dollars now being used in this political campaign to support the people who send you hundreds of millions of tax dollars? The Democrats.

This will pretty much sink whatever chance Mitt had to get a female vote or two. Sad that he had to trash his former beliefs in this regard in order to make it through the primary process. His mother was pro-choice, and he spoke elequently back in the 90's about why he was too. But he bowed to the Tea Party types to secure the nomination.......which tells me he is sorely lacking in leadership and integrity. Presidential material? Not hardly.

More lies from the left. No, it DOESN'T mean women will be denied these services. It means that Planned Parenthood won't be the ones receiving federal dollars to perform them. Planned Parenthood is lying and scaring women to protect THEIR FEDERAL INCOME STREAM.

Would you like us to investigate whether the Kochs are using energy industry subsidies to donate millions and millions of dollars to Mittens and Crossroads and its own PACs? Stifle yourself. PP segregates the money very very clearly.

You think that some GOP doctor will give these services for free??? No, you think the GOP cares about women NO!!! These are services for the women of America. Just who do you think will perform these services???

So, the situation is that there's essentially one apple tree on the planet and Mittens wants to stop watering it....and YOU claim that everyone will still be able to get apples. FACT: those federal dollars make much of what PP does (aside from abortions, which are done via segreated funding) possible in the first place and they are the only game in town in the vast VAST majority of areas across the country. Taking away PP federal funding would indeed be functionally equivalent to taking away those services for thousands of women.

LOL....as someone in the medical field...there is no way access will be denied....birth control will still be available..just not through planned parenthood...low income women will still be given the care they need and deserve- believe me I see it everyday. Plannned parenthood is funded largely through the federal government, and many people who don't believe that abortion is right do not want thier tax dollars being spent on something they view as immoral. This is a scare tactic...pandering to those who buy this load of nonsense that there is a war on women. I am a well educated, hard working woman and I don't feel a war....the only battle I feel is commen sense versus nonsense.

and as a southerner, a woman, graduate student and a conservative I resent being called "Billy Bob Barefoot" or that I am from Dogpatch.....don't lower yourself to name calling...don't be so naive as to believe the sterotype...it makes your look bad...but then again conservatives are bad in your eyes either way...we are all either backwoods hilbillies or wealthy greedy pigs...at the end of the day we are all Americans with hopes and dreams and goals for this great nation and our own familes....lets just cut the crap and talk with respect

If Planned Parenthood cared soooo much about providing all of these services and taking hundreds of million of tax dollars every year, why don't they just spin off the abortion mill business into an entirely seperate operation? Real companies do this all the time.

Of course they won't because the fact is that federal money IS funneled into the abortion side of the shop.

Republicans do not like any agency that will help women. According to right wingnuts, any government money spent that does not help the wealthy and big oil is wasted.

Your assumption is meritless. If it were true, the GOP-controlled House would have forced investigations and hearings and obliterated the entire PP organization. They didn't. Wanna guess why?

its not about that...its about doing something with tax dollars that ends up KILLING a human being? why is it, if scientists find a single cell(they haven't yet) on a planet it will be called LIFE, but a collection of cells in a woman's body is not life? confused? Funding compassionate cancer care is the right thing to do, I am for that, funding the killing of an innocent life, I am against..quit twisting words
