Washington (CNN) - Swing state television airwaves are already saturated with ads, and now - with early voting soon to be underway in several states - mailboxes are starting to fill up as well.
Voters in Virginia this week received a glossy mailer from Planned Parenthood Action Fund warning that Republican nominee Mitt Romney would "turn back the clock" for women if elected.

The two-sided mail piece portrays Romney inside a primitive 1950s-looking television set and highlights his proposal to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood and his support for overturning Roe vs. Wade.
"Mitt Romney would go too far and interfere in a woman's personal medical decisions," reads the mailer, provided to CNN by a voter in the Richmond area who received it.
It's a potent message in Virginia, where a recent Washington Post poll showed President Obama holding a nearly 20-point advantage over Romney among women.
Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg responded to the mailers, saying women "can't afford" four more years of Obama.
“More false and dishonest attacks from President Obama’s allies can’t hide his failed record," Henneberg said. "President Obama’s policies have made it more difficult for women to start businesses, keep more money in the bank, or see their children graduate with good jobs on the horizon."

also, as a woman, I don't vote just on reproductive issues...I am more concerned about the economy.....without a strong economy there will be no funding for ANYONE...nothing....number one issue...lets get this back on track and lets get jobs out there, get people out of the welfare system and into the workforce – creating thier own american dreams for thier families...when we all find success the country is better off....we all do well
I think we are at a point where many women are worried about jobs, many women are living in poverty with their children and I think they look around and realize our country is going nowhere with Obama and the future looks very bad for jobs. I think many will ignore this propaganda as they are worried about putting food on the table and paying bills.
No women will take notice of this because if Romney eliminates Planned Parenthood and Roe vs Wade then more women will be having more babies they can't afford, and if they are having trouble now with the family they already have they will be even more strapped if they are made to have children they can't afford or have the birth control they need to prevent more pregnancy's......but he can get plenty of Viagra for himself......
@Irish Belle – lets just cut the crap and talk with respect
You can complain all you want, but certain posters/haters on here refuse to listen to what you are asking for. It's obvious that you haven't been here long. Get used to it. Most of the hating posts come from a few right wingers who refuse to have a discussion about it and simply wail on the POTUS. Everything is HIS fault according to them.
SO.. get them to cut the crap and we can make some progress... but I'm not holding my breath, because this is exactly the problem with the GOP/Teapugs in DC.
Let's not forget that this propaganda might have been influenced by Stephanie Cutter who thinks that we women are not concerned over what has happened to our country in the last 4 years but we are only concerned with the next 4 years. This woman thinks that we women are only worried about our reproductive system, birth control is our priority, forget putting food on our tables, feed kids, pay bills, safety of our country, education. Oh yeah, she seems to think that we all go around worried about having an abortion and have it paid by our government.
@myviewis – I think many will ignore this propaganda as they are worried about putting food on the table and paying bills.
Absolutely they are worried about food on the table. Shame that those very same folks of whom you speak are too darn ignorant to vote in their best interest. Voting Republican will put control right back into the hands of the people that caused this mess in the first place. And that they were the cause is easily verifiable.
"think we are at a point where many women are worried about jobs, many women are living in poverty with their children and I think they look around and realize our country is going nowhere with Obama and the future looks very bad for jobs. I think many will ignore this propaganda as they are worried about putting food on the table and paying bills."
Right. Because nothing says "economic mobility" and "hope for my children's future" like "crap, they caught the breast cancer too late."
I think this is EXACTLY the time to worry about this - if a woman with one or two children has no job, no healthcare, and gets sick, the last thing she needs is to be told she cannot have access to birth control and be forced to have MORE KIDS.
If you believe for one minute that the Republican platform will help women in any way you better read it again. Nothing is written about letting women decide their own futures.l In many cases men will make the decisions about what women can and can not do.
Mr. Romney did not improve the economic climate in MA. What makes people think he will do so now. He has not held a job for better than 12 years and has spent much of his time running for President. At my age I know how important it is for women to do well in this economy. But, we should be very sure that a change in leadership will make a difference. Mr. Romney has vacillated on so many issues it is difficult to know what he stands for.
To dissolve Planned Parenthood because Republicans believe that Planned Parenthood is only there to do abortions is ludicrous. To believe that teh so-called Obamacare is a threat to our society tells me that our politicians are not interested in supporting health care for everyone in the country. People will have a choice which is more than a lot of people have now. OF course, these politicians all havwe the very best health insurance. They have everything handed to them on a silver platter – office space, office workers, aides, plane trips home, mailing privileges, janitorial service for their office, etc., etc, etc.
