Getting ready for Wednesday's showdown

(CNN) – Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, who's playing the role of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in President Barack Obama's debate preparations, will join the president in Nevada this week, according to an Obama re-election campaign official.

The president travels to Nevada on Sunday, where he'll hold an evening rally. Obama will stay in Nevada to prepare for the debates before flying to Denver on Wednesday for the first debate.

The Romney campaign tells CNN that Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, who's playing the role of Obama in Romney's debate preparations, will travel with the former Massachusetts governor on Monday to Colorado. Romney will hold a rally in Colorado that night before final debate preparations.

Romney's running mate - Rep. Paul Ryan - will debate Vice President Joe Biden on October 11, and a campaign aide said Saturday that Ryan will focus on debate preparations a few days next week while in Virginia. He is expected to be in the Old Dominion State on Wednesday, Thursday, and possibly on Friday.

His last mock debate - with legal scholar Ted Olson - was in Janesville, Wisconsin on September 23.

I wonder if releasing Obama's college records would sway the voters. Why on earth are they hidden? No one else hides their school records.

The same tax payers that funded Obamas over $1billion campaign tour are going to the same people hit hardest by his platform. How better can you define irony. It would be nice if he and the entitlement recipients at least said thank you to the hard working Americans who are footing the bill. As a <30 year old professional about to start a small business, this lack of accountability and disregard for future generations makes me sick.

Doug, you have your observation so mixed up.You only have to compare the DNC and RNC conventions to see which one was a true representation of America and not only in terms of diversity. The RNC convention was a hatefest of one group of people foaming at the mouth against the president, not really about liking Romney, while the DNC convention was a palpable united front of people coming together to support a candidate they love. Then again you are in denial or think if you repeat the lies often enough people will believe them.

The most sensible thing I have seen written in a long time to make these debates really meaningful, for voters is th fact checker crawl lines at screen bottom. its easy most of the bad claims are well documented and we could judge candidates on sincerity truth and character rather than political spin from either side.
If yo have Jim Lehrer, indicate broadly 2 hours before the program to a panel of fact checkers what questions he's going to push and lock em up in a studio with no comms or hidden mikes or cameras It/ll be much better and a real debate helping us to make choices on facts not half truths and lies.
Freedom of speech is fine but when you are asking for my vote I want the truth ( not even half truths) and the cold hard facts.
Governor Romney are you in favor of repealing Roe vs wade Yes or No please. Then spin talk 30 seconds
President Obama do you agree with Nethanyahu's red line Yes or No please . Then spin talk 30 seconds
Moderator to cut off after 30 seconds as part of the debate rules.
There is knowing these debates a rule against demanding Yes No replies. What a farce.
In our currently politically deeply divided nation the presidential candidate who uses Yes/No as a debate answer with yes, thats correct, I agree. I can explain/ qualify if you wish. or No, thats incorrec,t I disagree, and again I can explain qualify if you wish.
I hope Obama is wise enough to use these 6 ways to defeat the attacks or undermines as long as he sticks to facts in answers to attacks of any kind. key debate one on one tactic do not get drawn into long winded justifications. people stop listening becaise they've heard it all before from either side already.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

  14. ThinkAgain: Hey, networks, fact-check the debates in real-time and put it in the crawl!

@doug: "Notice that these extremely wealthy hateful people like Kerry are hard core leftists, the rich people who actually care about people like Romney who gave 15% of his wealth to charity vote Republican."

John Kerry and his wife give plenty to charity – and the biggest reason Mittens gives to charity is because his church requires him to tithe 10% to remain in good standing and qualify for perks such as Temple passes (to step inside a Mormon temple and/or do "temple work").

BTW, you do realize, don't you, that on Mittens' 2011 tax return he deferred part of his charitable contribution so that his tax rate would appear as 13% instead of the 9% he would have paid without the deferral?

You really are funny, doug, the way you always say that Liberals are hateful and Repubs are so virtuous. Did some Liberal somewhere do something bad to you? You really need to get some help to work through your pain and clear your head ...

While we all know how vital the financial recovery is to America, we also know America has concerns beyond that issue. And we know the 2012 neocon GOP platform hijacked by party extremists in an act of domestic social terrorism lands with a limbaughesquelike thud for the compassionate and intelligent portion of the electorate proud to be known as liberals. Liberals stand for justice, common sense and reason in our country. Liberals will rock the vote. New bumper sticker for sale, and 47% of the proceeds will be used to help balance the federal budget after the president is reelected: "Gov. Romney: It was never JUST the economy, stupid!"

The debates are a farce and have been ever since the LOWV got out of them and they subsequently became a tool of the Democratic & Republican parties to keep third parties out. You won't see that story on C N N or F O X.
I won't be watching the debates, because they do not include every candidate on the ballots that can mathematically win, and I'm convinced the GARY JOHNSON is by FAR the best man for the job.
NOTHING will EVER convince me to vote for either Obama or Romney.

What is Mitt Romney's unlucky number? Well, as Governor of MA, his state was 47 in job growth. Then a few weeks ago he began sinking in the polls when he was caught on tape saying that 47% of Americans believe that they're victims who are entitled to "you name it. And on election day, he will get blown away by a landslide while President Obama racks up 47 states.

    So what's Mitt Romney's unlucky number?Well you've guest it...47.

    Obama/Biden 2012 by a LANDSLIDE!

Nineteen more Iraqi civilians died in Iraq today as a result of the civil war GWB and the GOP initiated that has destabilized that country. That brings the civilian death toll in Iraq to more than half a million and the republicans are yet to answer for their war crimes or explain to the UN, the world community and the American people what has become of the WMDs. OUTRAGEOUS!

Now you have idiotic republicans talking now of the presidents college transcripts, where's Romneys taxes, how bout Romneys involvement with Nathan Sproul, a known instagator of voter fraud going back over 3 decades.Remember ACORN republicans, you railed on that for months ,what did it get ya you ,how he's from Kenya,Muslim come on hypocrites got any more original ideas.Yea the economy is slow after all your obstructionistic buds in congress just not only turned down a jobs bill for vets but refused to vote to help drought stricken farmers as well and you want these nitwits back, wake up!!You republicans the ones with a congressional majority with the lowest approval rating ever want them back in,your nuts, fire them all that's all..Republicans with record fillibusters, record obstruction, racism and record lobbying republican wise, just making things worse...Now your candidate the Mormon moron changing his stance on taxes, not everyone getting a tax break, closing loopholes across the board, not telling who's getting them and a possibility of raising taxes as well, you republicans better watch your candidate he's talking trash again with nothing factual as usual to back it up .You want a candidate that goes to the WH on face value only not being factual or showing any details on any policy ,do you buy products on name only in life or do you research,I review and research that's why I wouldn't touch Romney with a ten foot pole, but again you're idiots republicans always voting for losers ,its historic and you'll repeat it again..The debates will show the multiple choice candidate isn't presidencial, just a Mormon STENCH that hangs around every four years,he's through would someone just tell him so!!
