How #ladyparts went viral

(CNN) - It started as an ecard, became a post on a Obama campaign blog, and eventually became fodder for conservative websites.

It wasn't the average get-out-the-vote banner.

Tune to CNN for Wednesday's presidential debate coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET on CNN TV, CNN.com and via CNN's apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Web users can become video editors with a new clip-and-share feature that allows them to share favorite debate moments on Facebook and Twitter.

"Vote like your lady parts depend on it," the meme read.

The post appears to have been posted first to the blogging site Tumblr by someone known on the site as Vennstiel on September 25.

When posting it last Tuesday, that user added, "Because they kinda do."

Someone with the Obama campaign "reblogged" it on their official campaign Tumblr this week, adding the commentary, "Really, though," plus a link to the women's health page on Obama's campaign website.

The post has since been removed from the Obama campaign Tumblr, but the page was first saved by web sites that "cache" or save the impressions from web sites over time. Google's caching service provided a snapshot of the page showing it online just before 4 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon.

A spokesman with the Obama campaign did not return a request from CNN for comment on the post.

It was done in the style of the ecards on the website Someecards, whose website shows it was posted there by a user of the site known as WiscoWoman on May 27.

The Obama campaign post brought the meme to prominence online. On Tuesday afternoon, the original Tumblr post had over 8,700 "notes" which includes other users posting the graphic to their Tumblr pages.

Conservative websites, including The Drudge Report and The Weekly Standard noted the post, and it drew a flurry of comments on Twitter.

Obama's campaign website lists Tumblr alongside other popular social networking websites, including Twitter and Facebook, where supporters can interact with the campaign online.

A separate Tuesday afternoon post mentioned women in a different context, noting the platform differences between Obama and Romney on Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care.

Tumblr says it has 75.8 million blogs and that nearly 63 million posts are added daily.

As the Tumblr user who posted the original meme noted on a separate Tuesday afternoon post, "It's got a life of its own now."

More of the same leftwing smoke and mirror BS that the LSM picks up and runs with.... Meanwhile they can't be bothered with the fact that our ambassador to Libya was murdered due to the incompetence of the Obama administration. This country is doomed thanks to the LSM, Obama and the Democrats.

Republicans aren't pro-life, they're pro-birth. What happens to that child after they've been brought into this world isn't their problem anymore. Another possible Christian for the cause!

Sniffit – as a oppose to the Obama Admin making up fake stories about Romney when he was in high school? How about the issues of Romney's taxes? If a video of Obama in 2007 is not relevant why are Romney's taxes?

What astound me is the lying down of this media about the Libya story. Way to go CNN!

Sniffit, this is the first time the whole tape has been released. It's newsworthy and may possibly come up in the debate tonight.

Kristina - The best way to prevent abortion is birth control.
    ===========================================
Please just tell it like it is. The left considers abortion to BE BIRTH CONTROL. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the health of the mother. They refuse to accept the fact that abortion is NOT birth control but the taking of an innocent life. Their failure to practice birth control is paid for by the baby.

and what about the lady parts of the unborn? apparently only those fortunate enough to have not been aborted by their mothers have a right to "vote their ladyparts"
    Very sad indeed.

As we approach the debate tonight and we are less than 5 weeks from election night – any least little story about either of the campaings will be blown out of proportion. Should I make a decision to make my vote based on an internet re-posting by some unknown that was seen as important by some low-level campaign official? I think not. I don't see that this will sway a signficant number of decided or undcied voters. There is so much more about the candidates and their stands or lack of thereof for us to be thinking about now. This is just another distraction and it shows how the Romney campaign is once again loosing time focusing on a non-issue. No wonder they are destined to loose.

in other words, the right wing stance on abortion is ok if it is after the birth and longer term. Unless of course rightwingers are going to be on the front lines adopting these babies.

Oh please...that's nothing more than ridiculous spin from Faux Noise. The speech was reported on at the time...by right AND left...and that's that. However, I certainly do hope that Mittens tries to raise it at the debate tonight. Watching him step in political cow pies is freekin entertaining. Both he and the GOP/Teatrolls would do well by themselves to recognize just how much this kind of crap will backfire. IT IS NOT THE CONVERSATION THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANTS TO HAVE. It was, in fact, already discussed and Faux Noise and the rest of the right wing spin machine tried desperately back then to make something of it that it's not. AND IT DIDN'T WORK. That they're resorting to it again 5 years later shows just how desperate they are right now over Mittens' failing campaign. IT WON'T WORK THE SECOND TIME. Brass tacks: it's obvious and disgusting race-baiting from the radicalized right, and constitutes a blatant attempt to give new life to the fear-of-a-brown-america tantrum the Teatrolls have been throwing for the past 4 years. Enjoy your tantrum though, I certainly do. /popcorn

The best way to prevent abortion is birth control. We have one political party that has many members passionately fighting to prevent access to birth control.
    ------
I'm in agreement, with a slight twist. I'd say that the best way to prevent abortion is contraception. Far too many are using abortion as postconception birth control. The victim there is the innocent one with no vioce.

"If a video of Obama in 2007 is not relevant why are Romney's taxes?"

Five reasons: (1) The Rmoney campaign does not dispute the accuracy of Obama's comments re: treatment of New Orleans vs. treatment of New York and Florida by the W administration. (2) In an interview with ABC in July, Rmoney said that anyone who paid $1 more than they legally owed was not qualified to be president. By his own standard, his 2011 tax return disqualifies him from the presidency. (3) Rmoney also claimed that he never paid less than 13%. But in order to reach that percentage in 2011, he had to pay $500,000 more than he legally owed. Had he only paid what he legally owed (i.e., claimed the full $4 million in charitable contributions instead of $2.2 million), he only would have paid 10%. (4) All that talk about how Rmoney will be tough on China? Yeah, right. His 2011 tax returns show he invested millions in Chinese businesses or companies that did business with China. He also invested in companies that illegally did business with Iran. And before you say "Blind Trust," Rmoney said that blind trusts can be given instructions regarding what they can and cannot invest in. So he obviously was OK with investing in China. (5) Most important, the president sets federal tax policy. Therefore, every US citizen has the right to know how much the presidential candidates pay in taxes - and also how their tax proposals will affect them. Rmoney will personally benefit from his proposals; Obama is proposing to raise his own taxes.

"Meanwhile they can't be bothered with the fact that our ambassador to Libya was murdered due to the incompetence of the Obama administration."

Yeah, or he was murdered by religious extremists. Just out of curiosity, do you consider the nearly 3000 Americans killed on 9/11 to have been murdered because of the incompetency of the Republican party? I'll just assume you do.

"If a video of Obama in 2007 is not relevant why are Romney's taxes?"

Because his taxes were private and, as his own father explained when starting the tradition, he might as well have rigged the ones he released because he knew was runnign for Prsident. Moreover, the majority of people think he should release them to show his finances for the past decade.

The speech was public, reported on at the time and covers various issues that have been discussed to death. Nothing about it is new or revealing or informative to the decision of who to vote for. The GOP/Teatrolls base already has a hangup over Reverend Wright and suffers from paranoid delusions that a black POTUS means he's doing everything to give preferential treatment to minorities. Dems think the whole thing is ridiculous. But here's the kicker, so pay attention junior: IT IS NOT THE CONVERSATION THAT INDEPENDENTS WANT TO BE HAVING. The only people who want to rant and rave about this are the radicalized right wing nutjobs who have already been ranting and raving about it for 4 years anyway. Mittens actually seems to be picking up on that and his campaign appears to be distancing itself from it as a result.

They have no voice because they can't talk. An embryo, or a cell cluster, or even a fetus has no voice because they can't talk yet.

It's the whole viability thing that the supreme court already ruled on.

Romney can't even run his campaign without trying to bribe and buy off people. What kind of president would he be? Luckily, we'll never find out. Such sorrow and desperation from the Right Wing, but they can't force Romney to be good enough to beat Barack Obama. You picked him, now you must pretend to love him while he loses big to Obama.

To Kristina that said "The best way to prevent abortion is birth control." Thats like saying The best way to prevent murder is to take all the weapons away! Regardless of HOW the person got pregnant, it is still THEIR decision of how they handle it! Murder is murder, no matter how you want to make excuses and rationalize it. I guess it's ok that your parents didn't abort you, but all these other defenseless children are murdered because their Monstrous parents were ok having them CHOPPED UP! Say what you will, but you know inside its plain and simple murder. PERIOD!

I really enjoy this "war on women" the democrats and media have concocted. The democrats decided that poor people need the ability to kill their children to save money, and they want all of us to pay for it. Since most people think this is wrong, they needed a cover. They decided that since republicans (and many democrats) were against it, they decided to declare "war", and, of course, blame the republicans for it.

Why is it illegal to harm the nest full of eagle's eggs, but perfectly fine to kill a human being?
