New Ryan reelection ad on health care

(CNN) - Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is out with a new ad Tuesday – one supporting his bid for reelection to the House of Representatives.

The seven-term Wisconsin congressman's new spot, "Patient Centered Solutions," shows him fielding a question from a Wisconsin woman about his plans to reform the health care system.

Tune to CNN for Wednesday's presidential debate coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET on CNN TV, CNN.com and via CNN's apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Web users can become video editors with a new clip-and-share feature that allows them to share favorite debate moments on Facebook and Twitter.

"We should get insurance and government bureaucrats out of the way and force health care providers to compete for our business," Ryan says in response to the question. "That way we can cut costs, improve quality, and make health care accessible for everyone."

He makes no mention of President Barack Obama's health reform law, which he and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney criticize on the campaign trail, but does say health decision should not be in the hands of "government or insurance bureaucrats."

"Insurance companies and providers should show us their prices and practices so you can make decisions based on cost and quality," Ryan says.

A new television ad for the Romney-Ryan presidential campaign released Tuesday also mentions healthcare.

"To pay for government-run healthcare, you'll pay higher taxes and more for your medicine," the narrator says.

Ryan went up with his first ad in mid-September, CNN reported at the time.

His home state, Wisconsin, is a presidential race toss up on the CNN Electoral Map and has 10 electoral votes in that race.

Ryan represents the state's first congressional district and is chairman of the House Budget Committee. He also serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and that committee's panel on health.

What does "patient centered health care" really mean. Do we go back to the death panels of health care insurers.

    Let's move this country forward.

Has Obama, Biden or any of the Democrats? Obama has made millions from his books. He could afford to pay for his own healthcare.

It's blatantly obvious that this administration can not take responsibility for their own actions.

    Leaders don't blame others.

It appears Joe Biden's dementia has finally consumed his brain. He doesn't even know that HE and OBAMA are the ones that have burried the middle class the last 4 years.

THANKS JOE!! It is going to make one heck of a commercial for Romney!! Biden, the gift that just keeps on giving.

Mr. Ryan hasn't a clue. Healthcare (and education) should NOT be run by "free market" economics.

Funny I work for an insurance company. Leave it to the GOP and you will be trying to get health care like you buy cars. This is how they will run health care in the system. There is always a lower end company and a high end company selling you something its just how much can you afford more money better service less money poorer service. Just like buying a car more money better new car, bad credit less money used car with issues.

Who will regulate the quality and price for insurnce? Problem is the cost. At old age who will shop for the best price? Is that not waste of time and energy? How much money people will get for voucher? Will that be enough for getting what atleast medicare cover now?

  12. Republicans; the "Not Intended to be Factually Accurate" Party

Anyone that has ever been successful at anything that they HAD TO WORK FOR knows that you can`t "half-step" and get there. By running for his Congressional seat while running for VP, Ryan is "half_stepping". It can not be comforting to Romney or the other GOP faithful, that he is doing this. Either you are all in on the big things, or you lose. The PRESIDENCY is about the biggest thing there is. Ryan is running but his heart isn`t in it because he really doesn`t believe in Romney as the leader and standard bearer for the Republican Party. There is no way to paper this over and the cracks Will emerge.

To blame Obama for the death of our ambassador to Libya is disgraceful. I'm a democrat and I would never sink your level by blaming Bush for the deaths of 9/11. You should be ashamed of yourself for that post.

Here in Canada we pay about 66% as much per capita as in the US, companies don't have to provide it as a benefit, and coverage is universal. By intenational organization measures, the overall quality of care, which includes accessibility and mortality data, Canada ranks about 7th in the World. The US ranks #37. The GOP has sold out to big Pharma, big Med, and big lawyers. Go to war for ~3000 dead and run up huge tax numbers. Meanwhile in the US healthcare system, about 98,000 preventable deaths occur every year. Where is the war on broken healthcare?

WHAT? - Health care and insurance are not some product they have to offer you specials to lure you in to use it. When it is needed there are few options. There is a daily demand such that they can name there own price and you cant do much about it. It's not like gas where if enough of us stop driving and it stockpiles and they are force to lower the price to keep profitable.
As long as greed is the leading factor in the insurance industry, it will not fit into your "consumer control the price" business model. Obamacare certainly could have been better, but it is the first time I've heard of insurance companies having to return money to it customers because they did not use a majority of it on actually administering health care. Money they use to use to line their pockets or build skyscrapers.

Is he running for re-election to the house of representatives and vice president? How does that work...exactly. If he wins the house of rep. and the white house he gets to choose which house? Or does it speak to the fact he's not confident they will take the white house so he has a contingency plan? He will keep working for the government either way!! This is kind of odd to me.

Yes Congress and Republicans have strangled and held the middle class hostage for the past four years while Republicans attempt to make Obama a one term President, good news is coming though as Romney and Ryan are failing at getting people to believe their lies and Obama is going to get a second term and put the republican party out to pasture where it belongs

Ryan is acting optimistic in campaigning again in Wisconsin for his old confessional seat while running as Romneys VP,can he see defeat in his horizon,I bet so!!He refused to debate the democratic challenger just recently and it'll show in the polls because the challenger is pulling out all the stops and showing Wisconsinites just what he's all about and why!!Ryan going down as a two time loser in two different campaigns, glad he bought that camo hunting gear for he and his daughter,he's definitly going to need it because he's getting called out on his lies!!
