Poll: Latinos see poor GOP minority outreach

(CNN) - A new CNN/ORC International poll released Friday finds Latino voters don't think the Republican Party has done a good job reaching out to minorities and the Democratic Party cares more about people like them, agree with them on important issues and can improve economic conditions.

Friday's release shows that only 33% of likely Latino voters think the GOP has done a good job reaching out to minorities compared to the 77% who think Democrats have done a good job.

The poll also indicates 69% of likely Latino voters believe the Democratic Party cares more about people like them while only 24% say the GOP cares more than the Democrats do.

The survey - taken entirely before Wednesday's first presidential debate in Denver - also shows 62% of Latinos think the Democratic Party can help to improve economic conditions. Only 32% think the Republican Party can better fix the economy.

Friday's survey comes after a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday showed President Barack Obama retaining a significant lead over rival Mitt Romney in the key voting demographic–70% to Romney's 26%–matching the level of support he received from Latinos in 2008.

Tuesday's poll also showed Latinos rating the economy, rather than immigration, as a more important issue facing the country, and indicated enthusiasm in the election among Latinos is lower than it is among non-Latino whites.

More recently, a CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday shows Latinos are more optimistic about the economy than non-Latino whites, but six in ten see the economy in poor shape.

Latino voters are considered an especially important demographic in the 2012 campaign and are being courted heavily by both parties, especially in swing states with higher Latino populations like Colorado, Nevada and Florida.

The CNN poll released Friday was conducted by ORC International from September 25 through October 1 and consisted of 601 interviews with adult Latino likely voters conducted by telephone in English and Spanish. The poll has a sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points.

It may have something to do with republicans cheering the notion of having an electrified border fence as Herman Cain suggested. Or it could have something to do with Willard's "self deportation" remarks. How about the GOTP's refusal of passing the DREAM Act. That just may have something to do it.

Latinos don't look for a "hand out" and they are smart enough to give Romney a "hand up" knowing that he has just stepped on and over them and they would just "self deport themselves" as if they never existed in his World.

The GOtP is doing two things at the same time
They are using Latinos to scare white people into a frenzy
and then they turn around and beg them for their vote
The question is, how long can they keep this up?
    AND
Are Latinos stupid enough to fall for this foolishness

I just pray every person remembers we are all of some ethnic decent and when some politician aims to lower and belittle a complete ethnic group or groups ethnicity they have no place being in any authority. That goes for anyone who isn't a politician as well but thinks and believes they are better than others and that others don't have equal rights – Thank God for Democrats for keeping this country true to it's founding fathers beliefs of equality and justivce for all.

    Well Lessee,
What exactly are these peolple asking for. Special Favors that others don't get.. There have been Re-Finance Offers from the Government for those whos morgages are under water. Nobody offered to reduce my house payments. I paid the full rate. Under the guise of "Latinos" are we talking about Citizens or non-citizens. If it's Non-Citizens then you have no rights here. I read that a lot of non-citizens get tax refunds and "Game" the system. A lot of people are un happy about that. Not all of them are Republicians. If it is Citizens you can vote for a step up or do it on your own. The Pilgrims done it on their own.

I can tell you one thing as far as the latino people goes. There are lots of them that work for their "republican" Job Creators – IF their "job creators" ( in other words, the people they are working for) hears anything, and I mean Anything Negative about a republican – they won't have a job the next day.
    Vote Democrat – 2012

What? You mean Mitt Romney simply wishing his father had been born a real Mexican isn't enough for the Latino voters? Geesh, Mitt Romney kinda blew that one, too, didn't he?

Thank God for the Latino vote, else we would now have a Sharon Angle as a sitting United States senator.

It is a slap in the face to Latinos for the the GOP to ask for their votes especially with the kinds comments and statements made in the Republican primaries...blatant disrespect.

Not in my neighborhood, they aren't. They are extremely hard workers, very family oriented, and quite helpful to their neighbors. None of them are receiving "hand outs" but are all gainfully employed, including their teenage children most of whom hold down part time summer jobs.

Funny, my Latino husband's father was not born in Mexico nor was his Latina mother (my hubby's family has been here since the late 1700s) but darned if that wouldn't stop the GOP from referring to him as an achor baby! Well, at 9 lbs 6 oz I'm sure my mother in-law thought he was an anchor.

Thank God the republicans haven't been able to prevent poor people from voting --- YET. They've tried every trick in the book.

If Romney wins Florida I will question it - lots of women, lots of hispanics, and lots have been kicked off the rolls by Rick Scott. Rick Scott = Jeb Bush Jr. No more supreme court appointments of president EVER.

it may have something to do with the liberals wanting to give free stuff to anyone crossing the border......here's some free health insurance, social sercurity money and oh, buy the way, we don't check IDs so feel free to vote for us liberals and we will continue to "care about you". how sweet and caring you liberals are WITH MY MONEY......liberals love handing out money, and mind you the government can only give money to someone by taking it away from someone else.......

"my views", what the hell are you talking about? The only people I see asking for handouts are white men and some white women on every street corner in the U.S. begging. Latinos are the hardest class of working people here in the U.S. and prideful as well. Go crawl back into your Tea-Bag hole, would ya.

I happen to be a Latino and I don't know where the liberal media goes out to to do their so called "polling" but I can tell you this, we are a proud people and the last thing we want, is for the government to makes us so dependent on them, that in fact keeps us status quo. I can tell you this, this Latino and many more I know are in fact voting Republican!

Can someone please answer a question for me? Someone intelligent like Sniffitt, Dominican Mama, Woman in California, the Real Truth.......

Why all the talk about Latinos coming into America and taking over? Does America NOT care that the Middle Easterners are coming over here and receiving handouts hand over fist, while multiplying like jackrabbits?? I am really curious as to why the Latinos are so bad but in my state it's the middle easterners. They have baby after baby, the husbands own businesses, yet they all receive welfare. Where is the outrage over this??

I really hope my question makes it through the mods but I doubt it, I'm really curious.
