(CNN) – President Barack Obama's campaign on Saturday released their second television ad which argues Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was dishonest at Wednesday's debate and in one of his own television ads.
This ad, like one released Thursday - the day after the debate - uses footage from the faceoff between Obama and Romney.
"I'm not in favor of a $5 trillion tax cut," Romney can be seen saying on the debate stage in the spot.
Obama and Romney sparred over that point at the debate, and the campaigns have waged war over it since on the campaign trail and in statements.
The president charged at the debate that "Romney's central economic plan calls for a $5 trillion tax cut."
"He is saying that he is going to pay for it by closing loopholes and deductions," Obama said. "The problem is that he's been asked over 100 times how you would close those deductions and loopholes, and he hasn't been able to identify them."
On Thursday, Obama told supporters in Denver that Romney "owe(s) the American people the truth," while his top strategist, David Axelrod, told reporters that Romney's arguement was "probably unprecedented in its dishonesty."
Romney communications director Gail Gitcho, meanwhile said Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter, in an interview with CNN, walked back the $5 trillion charge and "admitted that their central attack on Mitt Romney is false."
The Obama ad also swats back at a Romney campaign ad which says, "Barack Obama and the liberals will raise taxes on the middle class by $4,000."
The Romney campaign cited a study by the American Enterprise Institute in that spot, which was released earlier this week.
"The chairman of that so-called independent group is from Romney's former company. Dick Cheney is on its board. Newt Gingrich was there, too," it says. "It's not independent - it's just not true."
In a statement responding to the ad, Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg pointed to the comments of Cutter and fact checkers, saying "Independent fact checkers – and even his own campaign – have admitted that President Obama is spreading falsehoods about Mitt Romney’s tax plan.
"It’s clear the President is willing to say and do anything to avoid talking about his own record of fewer jobs, declining incomes and record poverty. And another four years wont’ be any different, with looming tax hikes on job creators and middle-class families," Henneberg said. "As president, Mitt Romney will implement pro-growth reforms that cut taxes for the middle class and create a fairer, simpler tax code that creates millions of good-paying jobs.”
Obama's campaign said the spots will run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia, but did not say how much it was spending.

Every one knows Mitt Romney is lying.... Entire this nation knows that sob mitt is lying. Bain capital, watch 47% video, it tells all......
The American public is forced to supplicate and acquiesce to political powers whose fundamental desire is to monopolize the will of wealth and influence over the general well being of the masses. We are subjected to overwhelming ignorance from a small group who deems themselves of such importance that our own views, ideas, and insights are summarily ignored. There are simple and concise ideas that would move our society forward and create vast numbers of jobs while saving our environment, yet we are subjected to the rule of groups of people like Ben Bernanke, et al who direct our future through their own narrow views. The American public has no ability to influence the direction of our nation and remain enslaved to the philosophy of abject greed and obscene political derision that veils the truths of corruption and graft. There is no cure for our aged opulence and national obesity of power.
If I look at the campaigns ( leave aside the pacs of both sides) i.e The ones where I'm B. Obama or Mitt Romney and i approve this ad on balance I feel the Obam campaign and ads heve been more Legal decent honest and truthful.
This conclusion is mostly based on
1) A lot of the major ads both sides being viewed.
2) some claims repeatedly made on very serious major issues of policy like medicare and Welfare to labor are both Pants on fire or 4 pinnochios and the campaign says we'll not be rulked by fact checkers who are independent.
3) On the Obama side a lot of ads use the CBO data or the TPC. Both independent Or bi partisan organisations. The republicans on the other hand constantly rely on Republican think tank rebuttals as with this $400 middle class tax increase.
For me in the debate Romney showed that he cannot go into detail about what gets his 12m jobs or his magic bullet tax reductions for all policy = no debt increase. He can't even tell you how the Arithmetic works. And when challenged with facts just ignores them with spin and meaningless spiel!!
What kind of man fires someone like Mr. Lehrer in front of 60 Million people? A bully and a jerk. Power-hungry, control-freak Mutt is gonna pay at the polls.
Who trusts Romney? He fires Big Bird, ties his dog to the roof of his car for a cross country trip, spends the Vietnam war in France while calling for his fellow aged Americans to quit protesting and fight. Truth and honor and rules are clearly for the common man to follow....not a man of Romney's means!!!
Romney is a liar , to get a vote he would sell his wife. No one gonna buy anything he sells. OBAMA 2012
The Obama campaign should not spend any more money on ads pointing out Romney's dishonesty; we all already know about it. It is shocking to me that there is even a Chinaman's chance that a con-artist like Romney might become the US president! At the next debate, the president should ask Romney the question Gov. Rick Perry tried to ask him before he got tongue-tied.... "Mr. Romney were you against it before your were for it, or were you for it before you were against it?" I just can't believe any religion would have someone like Romney as a member. It really makes them look bad. If this is what the Mormon religion teaches, then, in my opinion, it is a cult.
Romney is s liar, he would sell his wife to get a vote. Nobody gonna buy what he sells. Obama 2012
Haven't been able to trust Obama or his campaign since they ran the dirty ad saying Romney was responsible for that man's wife dying of cancer!!!
The one thing you notice about the Campaign is Romney is talking about the issues and Omana is talking about Romney. Not a good stratigy unless you don't have a good record to run on.
We all know who the liar was and it wasn't Romney.
