Obama ends tough week with romantic dinner

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama has had better weeks, but at least he got to end it in style - and with his wife by his side.

Obama and his wife Michelle celebrated their 20th anniversary with a romantic dinner Saturday night. According to pool reports, the president and first lady ate at the Bourbon Steak restaurant in Georgetown’s tony Four Seasons hotel.

There’s no word on what gifts the Obamas may have exchanged, but 20th anniversaries typically involve items made of a politically volatile word: china.

The night-out was a far cry from where the president spent Wednesday, the day of his actual anniversary. Obama was at the University of Denver - along with scores of strangers - facing off with Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the presidential race’s first debate.

That wasn’t a magical night for Obama, according to most pundits, who credited Romney with a clear victory. The president did have some bright spots, though, in the subsequent days such as a better than expected jobs report and strong fundraising numbers.

While the first couple spent Saturday night together, they won’t be in the same place for much longer. Obama leaves Washington on Sunday to fund-raise and campaign through California and Ohio.

The Obama's will have plenty of time for romantic dinners after the election when all they have to worry about is packing up. You'd think he'd be taking debating lessons and learning some facts besides all the lies in his bogus commercials. Really looking forward to Ryan crush Biden on Thursday. Ryan knows his stuff. Biden, well, he's been busy crushing the middle class for the last four years. Crazy Joe, the gift that just keeps on giving. Told you lefties Obama should have dumped him for Hillary!

Seems like a tone deaf decision by Obama to choose a very expensive and ritzy restaurant for an anniversary dinner smack dab in the middle of a campaign, where gas prices in California are over $5 a gallon, people are hurting.

They should have shown their solidarity with people who are struggling by going to a Five Guys... Or maybe they should have eschewed the whole dinner and gone to help feed the homeless at a shelter.

My bet is that Romney would have postponed his anniversary dinner until AFTER the election.
