Obama makes fun of his debate

(CNN) – President Barack Obama made light of his widely-panned debate showing while appearing Sunday night at a star-studded concert in Los Angeles.

At an event featuring singers Katy Perry, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, and Jon Bon Jovi, the president reflected on a recent on-stage performance of his own.

"Everybody here is incredible professionals. They're such great friends and they just perform flawlessly night after night," he said, taking a pause. "I can't always say the same."

Obama drew criticism from Democrats last week for being what some described as listless, lethargic and ill-prepared in his match-up against Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

His joke at the concert, which drew laughs from the audience, came a couple of hours before the president poked fun at himself at another event. Speaking at a fund-raiser, Obama talked about the debate falling on the same day as his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife, Michelle.

"The actual anniversary date was not that romantic," he said. "There was some speculation as to whether this had an impact on my performance. But I did make it up to her on Saturday."

The couple enjoyed a private dinner at the Bourbon Steakhouse in Georgetown's tony Four Seasons hotel.

– CNN's Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

I saw a debate where one candidate was not enthusiatic yet factual and another candidate enthusiastic and blatantly lying. I'm glad the President had a chance to celebrate his anniversary. I'd be unenthused if I had to debate a pathological liar rather than spending a lovely evening with my wife on our anniversary.

Stop poking fun at Obama. He's not used to speaking in front of an audience without a teleprompter and an audience that is made up of Democrats mixed with some Republicans and a few non-committed voters. None of these people were bused in and there were not any canned questions and answers. This is new territory. Obama should also be praised for getting his stuttering under control. And look at what happened when he finally agreed to appear. He was forced to talk about issues and he's only been in office for a little over 3 years. And on top of that he was restrained enough not to disclose the real problem with his performance in office, that all these problems were caused by Bush. And do you want to know the toughest part of this debate. Because of the preparations he hasn't been on the golf course since August 4, 2012 when he played round 104 of his Presidency trying to keep his schedule of playing every 2 weeks. When you understand how much Obama has suffered to appear at the debate you will see why his performance looked a little flat.

Just where Obama loves to be, Hollywood, "Everybody here is incredible professionals. They're such great friends and they just perform flawlessly night after night".

I think Obama forgets that this Hollywood people also have nothing to say when they don't have a script written for them or are in front of a Teleprompter or have not rehearsed endless hours. No wonder Obama loves Hollywood and Hollywood loves Obama, they are all plastic.

there is an estimated one million Americans in Canada that can vote by mail – contact your embassy

Obama should make a visit to Canada and ask for their support – he would be well recived

As a Canadian I would suggest you should try to get Romeny here as well – although for another reason – we do have free speech but with his recording about the "47% victims" we can charge hin under Canadian hate crime laws – we have the recordng so if you can get him here he will be arrested and placed in jail pending his court hearing – about six months and ten years if he is convicted – see if you can get him to visit Canada – we will take care of the rest

    love Canada

Should make a joke about the jobs number. Like 114,000 jobs added in Sept. by 873,000 workers. You just know that they are government jobs. 1 job filled by 8 workers.

Wake up America. Who really is doing the lying. Obama's spent spent, vacation, vacation it's no wonder he can speak on one fact without lying or coning the American people. What exactly has he succesfully done in the last 4 years. Him and Michell do nothing but get on talk shows and talk about themselves. Wow hows many presidents in our past that made Hollywood there center platform. I just can't beleive this guy. He has never been a leader of the free World!!

You know darn well that Obama has nothing to do with those gas prices going up like that in California. I have friends that live there and told me it was bc of a power shortage that took place at the refinery's there. Nice try but no go. Please read the news and facts b4 you make statements like that. Beside you know the President has no control over the gas prices.

Obama has the chance to call Mitt out for the supposed lies and wimps out during the debate... Obama comes out swinging the next day once someone tells him what to say and when it cannot be directly refuted by his debate opponent. Obama is the biggest empty suit wimp this country has ever elected!

    @Larry5

The only reason Willard looked slightly impressive to people like YOU, is because he is best standing around, talking and doing nothing. This is exactly what CEOs do, stand around or sit in front of their Board members and TALK. Nothing else.

As president (God forbid), Willard would be forced to really work you can believe, that's not what he has in mind. His plan, IF elected, is to let Ryan do all the work and then, in 2016, he would announce he's not seeking a second term due to Ann's health or some made up reason. You see, this is only about his ego, not about helping the American people. It NEVER has been. He could care less who wins in 2016 (d) or (r) him and the silly Mrs. just want to say "WE DID IT" and have their way.

Unlike many others, I don't find Willard to care about anyone, including his rich friends. He cares only for his family and his soul-less image of a man and anyone who believes otherwise, is sadly mistaken but it's still not to late to send him back to his car elevators.
