47% comments resurface in Obama ad

(CNN) - A new ad released by President Barack Obama's campaign on Tuesday brings up GOP challenger Mitt Romney's "47%" remarks again while also criticizing him over Medicare.

The ad is the third to be released by the Obama campaign on Tuesday.

While one of the spots is sarcastic and focuses on Big Bird, earlier in the afternoon, Obama's campaign also released a spot criticizing Romney's past handling of and future plans for Medicaid, a federal health care program for low-income individuals.

The new spot is on Medicare - the federal health care program primarily for seniors - shows pictures of senior citizens and a veteran as the narrator says, "Victims, dependent.

"That's what Mitt Romney called 47% of Americans, including people on Medicare," the narrator continues.

Last Friday, Romney said the comments were "completely wrong" after standing by them for several weeks. Video of his comments was secretly recorded at a May fundraiser and made public in mid-September on the website of a left-leaning magazine.

The ad says Romney would "replace guaranteed benefits with a voucher system" and that seniors would pay more. On screen is a series of images of seniors.

"You're no victim," the narrator says. "You earned your benefits."

At last Wednesday's presidential debate, Romney was clear that he was not "proposing any changes for any current retirees or near retirees, either to Social Security or Medicare."

"And with regards to young people coming along, I've got proposals to make sure Medicare and Social Security are there for them without any question," he continued.

In a statement responding to he ad, Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said, “President Obama has not done anything to reform Medicare for the long haul and prevent it from going bankrupt. Mitt Romney has a plan to protect Medicare for today’s seniors and preserve and strengthen it for future retirees.”

Obama's campaign said the spot would run in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia, but did not say how much it was spending on the ad.

If you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters.

If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.

And you know what? It's worked before, because it feeds into the cynicism we all have about government. When Washington doesn't work, all its promises seem empty. If your hopes have been dashed again and again, then it's best to stop hoping and settle for what you already know.–Obama

  4. DEMOCRATS ARE IN FACT THE BIGGEST TAX CHEATS AROUND. Timothy Geithner THE PERFECT EXAMPLE.

Actress Stacey Dash was attacked with negative tweets after voicing her support of Mitt Romney on Twitter over the weekend. Many comments were racially charged and others suggested the star of the 1990s hit 'Clueless' should just "kill herself."

I'll be glad when this election is over so this country can move forward instead of just being for the 1% and the way a lot of people are voting you'd think they were the 1% instead of that 47% that Romney doesn't give a hoot about.

repost: "I meant what I said, when I said it." Remember those words, Romney will say anything, lie, pander, and shamelessly obfuscate the facts to reach his objective. He stood on that stage and walked back every policy position he'd taken over the last eighteen months and completely lied to the American people about his tax proposals. His ability to lie and believe those lies, is breath taking on an Orwellian scale

Just saw where MittWitt was shooting off his mouth again about the Seal murdered in Libya. He used the word "We" to compare himself to this man. Where is the "We", MittWitt you have done nothing your whole life but hide behind your church (?) and your daddy's money. You are a draft dodger, tax evader, liar, hide your money in foreign countries, just about everything unAmerican. People will say, Obama did not serve, and the answer is simple-there was no draft for Obama to run from. The draft was the law then and Mittens ran from it. He will say it is against his churchs (?) beliefs--but it is OKIEDOKIE for him to be Commander in Chief and send your children to be canon fodder. Repect is something that is earned, show me where MittWitt has earned even a penny worth of respect. Nope-can't do it.l Some will say well Obama was only a community organizer. Ever check out to see what a Community Organizer does? Nope, did not think so. You would probably not want the job. MittWitt again proves just how disgusting a human he is.

The "new" Romney/Ryan, the softer, gentler Romney/Ryan, the sympathetic Romney/Ryan are all a devious scam to hijack this election. If the Romney/Ryan ticket wins, the American voter will get exactly what they deserve, that is, four years of Bush/Cheney, a new recession (depression this time), and a couple of new wars to ice the cake.

Keep the ads going, that's when the President's numbers went through the roof ( and Bill Clinton's convention speech didn't hurt none either!).

You are right...Pres.Obama said "you didn't build that, by yourself... you had a mother a father someone who inspired you to get ahead you had infastructure, the internet etc...." it was a call to duty to those who are successful to reach back and help the America that helped them... oh and that machine shop owner that did a ad for Romney upset about the comment, it was later found that the company was inheireted from his father and over the years the had recieved OVER $500k+ in small business loans, grants etc....he just wants us to work together to REALLY build America back....

  21. Fact

I can't believe former Governor Romney tried to distance himself from his private fundraiser dinner comments, just two weeks after he supported them. It's incredible, he agreed with his initial sentiment, saw it wasn't working, then said he is 100% wrong. In just two weeks time. Incredible.

Borderless, it is not a stale tactic. Romney said it, and it was on tape. The tape was discovered last month. Just because Romney had a good debate does not mean that the tape never happened. Romney meant the 47% comment when he said it, and you can't argue that he was taken out of context.

The Dems here would love that. Its only "Hate Speech" when its Republican pointing out the truth about President Obama's horrible record.
Also, it was Canada in the late 90's and 2000's that started to reign in Govt spending and the size of Govt. Because of those policies (similar to Romney's plans) your country is in better shape than we are.
