47% comments resurface in Obama ad

(CNN) - A new ad released by President Barack Obama's campaign on Tuesday brings up GOP challenger Mitt Romney's "47%" remarks again while also criticizing him over Medicare.

The ad is the third to be released by the Obama campaign on Tuesday.

While one of the spots is sarcastic and focuses on Big Bird, earlier in the afternoon, Obama's campaign also released a spot criticizing Romney's past handling of and future plans for Medicaid, a federal health care program for low-income individuals.

The new spot is on Medicare - the federal health care program primarily for seniors - shows pictures of senior citizens and a veteran as the narrator says, "Victims, dependent.

"That's what Mitt Romney called 47% of Americans, including people on Medicare," the narrator continues.

Last Friday, Romney said the comments were "completely wrong" after standing by them for several weeks. Video of his comments was secretly recorded at a May fundraiser and made public in mid-September on the website of a left-leaning magazine.

The ad says Romney would "replace guaranteed benefits with a voucher system" and that seniors would pay more. On screen is a series of images of seniors.

"You're no victim," the narrator says. "You earned your benefits."

At last Wednesday's presidential debate, Romney was clear that he was not "proposing any changes for any current retirees or near retirees, either to Social Security or Medicare."

"And with regards to young people coming along, I've got proposals to make sure Medicare and Social Security are there for them without any question," he continued.

In a statement responding to he ad, Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said, “President Obama has not done anything to reform Medicare for the long haul and prevent it from going bankrupt. Mitt Romney has a plan to protect Medicare for today’s seniors and preserve and strengthen it for future retirees.”

Obama's campaign said the spot would run in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia, but did not say how much it was spending on the ad.

I am so sick of this 47% nonsense. Anyone with a brain knows the comments were taken out of context – all you have to do is look and listen to the rest of his platform to know it! But it's easier to keep misrepresenting the facts. How's that working for you, Obama?? People are on to you and your campaign's tactics. Now we're hearing how all Romney does is lie, lie, lie. Funny, the press hasn't taken issue with anything – just the Obama camp and supporters. What's that tell you?? That tells me someone IS lying – but it ain't Romney. Obama has no record to run on. So all he can do is lie.

Romney stands behind his comments for weeks about the 47% then recently apologizing,he can't keep getting away for this..He says one thing about the taxes, healthplans,SocialSecurity, other topics and he changes his mind again, what's wrong with this picture, hold Romney accountable,he's a pathelogical liar and should be treated as such, that's the American way!!Pres.Obama should hit him with these lies and put him on the spot with recorded videos, that'll shut his mouth at least for a time but he's arrogent as well as ignorent and he'll go back to lying again, its his nature he was raised to lie,he's Mormon isn't he!!

The fact that two political parties continue to pit the ones trying to scrape by to fight each other is unreal.

Attacking one another doesn't solve anything besides maybe creating an environment of hate.

I'm a Canadian and very proud to be, regardless of what ever knucklehead is running the show. I was working out of country and I mean both of ours. The people where I was doing the work really seemed to dislike Americans and I mean really. I said to them though if you want to be angry because of the policies of a country that's ok, because they can change, but don'tbe angry at the people. I explained that the people in the U.S. Want the same things they did, food on the table, a roof over their heads, and a better life for their children then they have today. It doesn't matter what colour skin, this is a truth in all educated and free societies. GW finished his daddies war, costing thousands of American lives. The jackasses that are supposed to be looking out for the financial interests of all the people, well they really didn't care about the nation as nearly as they cared about their own pockets. Millions of Americans losing their homes, millions losing their jobs, who knows how many people took their own lives because of these individuals that have their hands on America's purse strings. Between them and the executives on wall street. Whoever takes the job of President should start by getting rid of all these money grubbing bastards and bring in new blood, that understands their first responsibility is to the American people.

    Lucid One.

romney didn't say anything bad about 47%. this is once again a lie by the media to bring Mitt down. Mitt was talking about the percent of people who will never vote Republican... with in that group are people with victim mentalities and generationally government dependents, who will never ever vote Republican... you know that he did not say he wasn't going to help the poor or any of the lies you keep spreading. You know they are lies!!!!! You know it!!!! Yet you keep saying it!!! Mitt Romney has given over 50 million dollars out of his own pocket to the poor!!!!! You are hypocrites everyone of you! There is one man who could help the poor and unemployed and all of us, and you are keeping him from doing that!!!! The fate of the poor and down trodden is on your heads, because of your lies!!!!

Drone: (1) "An unmanned aerial vehicle used for surveillance or for carrying an ordnance" (2) "A supporter of the modern democratic movement who have been brain washed to believe everything that a democratic politician or MSNBC says" (3) "A person who follows the words and ideas of another even when those words and ideas are not supported by the facts. A blind follower of a charasmatic leader based only on eloquent words, not truth or substance" (4) A citizen who chooses a leader and government to decide. For them over freedom to choose their own destiny"

First off, let me say I live in california and will probably vote for Obama, not that it matters out here, since our state will go democrat anyway.

I voted for Bush twice, and Obama the last cycle. If Obama loses this election, I think you can point to two glaring things 1) The "you did not build it" quote and 2) The first debate..

In both cases they did not play well on TV, and a sitting President really should have known better. I must say I am shocked at how badly the debate performace has affected Obama in the polls. I think most people expected a little more game face from the leader of the free world. In the end, he had a chance to put the election out of reach, and did not even take a swing at the ball. The Obama campaign will have no one to blame but themselves, and this is coming from someone that will vote for him.

He still remembers how cool it was to witch the starving Chinese trying to climb the fences around the factory's doing any thing for a hand full of rice. just think about it Guys all the Starving Americans begging for the scraps from His table LoL how sweet.

when republicans say "create certainty for the job creators", that's translated into tax cuts for the wealthy. couple issues; not every wealthy person is a job creator. romneys' wealthy, who does he employ, a landscaping crew? this tax cut that's going to save us has been IN EFFECT SINCE 2001. obama tried to end it but all those republicans signed a pledge given to them by a lobbyist never to raise taxes for anything ever. just be happy knowing grover norquist is your senate minority leader, not boehner.

For most of you Liberals if God told you to vote for Romney you still would not. Romney is a man who has lived an honorable life based upon sound principles. He has worked hard to provide for his family, build a successful business, raise a family and serve others. He will bring those sound leadership values to the White House. If you are a good and honest person you will vote for him

MaryM- The biggest liar on the planet is your messiah. He has slandered, demeaned and tried to destroy a good honest man for the last eighteen months and misrepresented everything that Romney ever said. He has a horrible record so he has to get in the gutter with his personal attacks.

Obama is spending millions to bash Romney but he's spending nothing to tell us his plans to fix this broken mess. What is his deal?

@RIGHT-WING nuts claim: Obama is using scare tactics because he has no record.

WRONG. Obama has not runaway from record. He has ran on his record!

You have just chosen to block out anything you here that is positive for America.

    – Created 5.1 MILLION PRIVATE SECTOR jobs after Bush/GOP lost 8 MILLION
    – Saved the economy from 25% unemployment ... now at 7.8%
    – Saved the US auto industry
    – Reversed the Bush/GOP budget DEFICITS of 1.5 TRILLION
    – Ended the UNPAID WARS
    – Reduced taxes for MIDDLE CLASS families and SMALL BUSINESSES
    – No more reckless wars like what the GOP want: the GOP want war with Libya, Syria, and Iran
    – Health-care reform that will reduce heath-care costs for the gov't and allow 30M+ new people to BUY health insurance
    – More Equal rights for MORE AMERICANS, including women and gays
    – A GREENER economy so that we can be less dependent on MIDDLE EAST Oil
    – More investments into innovations that will help create JOBS
    – BIG CORPORATIONS are making RECORD PROFITS
    – Obama got Osama! No 9/11 events under Obama like under Bush/GOP
etc ... etc ... the list goes on ...

@Borderless: You need to look into Romney's background before you start spouting off about records. 47 out of 50 for job creation in his state? Known perpetrator of layoffs, outsourcing overseas, and bankrupting companies for profit? Flopping back and forth on countless political issues? Insulting not only the American people, but other countries he visits?

Let's talk about his plans for office. What's he going to do? He wants to cut taxes across the board, so he says... But he refuses to tell us HOW he plans to pay for it.

Sure sounds like a guy worthy of office to me.

It's also funny people have to take the "You didn't build that" comment completely out of context without the rest of the quote. Keep stretching, Reps. You have NO ground to stand on.
