Obama: 'could not be prouder' of Biden debate

(CNN) - President Barack Obama called Vice President Joe Biden shortly after Thursday's vice presidential debate, and told reporters that he "could not be prouder" of his running mate.

"I'm going to make a special point of saying I thought Joe Biden was terrific," he told reporters after Air Force One landed near Washington. "I could not be prouder of him. I thought he made a very strong case. And you know I really think that his passion for making sure that the economy grows for the middle class came through so I'm really proud of him."

It is highly unusual for Obama to approach reporters in this fashion after deplaning.

Obama also posted a tweet to his official Twitter feed after the debate.

"Tonight proved once again that you won't find a better and more tireless advocate for the middle class than @JoeBiden. -bo #TeamJoe," he wrote.

Obama was to watch at least part of the debate while flying back from Florida, where he held an earlier campaign fundraiser in Miami.

Biden did an exceptional job last night. Ryan looked pale and nervous during the debate. I think Romney should be very worried

It is a tie in all fairness. Both made powerful cases and stood their ground. Joe won on substance (Paul seemed clueless at times especially when asked what he/Romny would do differently on Syria) and Paul won on style (more calm and in control while Joe kept rolling his eyes and scoffing). All in all both should be happy with their performance. Race is getting tighter.

Biden came across as undignified fool. Laughing and smirking and pointing at the moderator just made him look like a fool.

Joe came to fight; ready to fight. The President must take notes. You take off the suit. And rumble. Especially when your opponent desires to take your head off.

Whatever – the president and vice president, both, have been acting like school children who are bad sports – calling names, mocking each other and not taking this thing seriously. What a big joke. Makes me want to puke.

If Obama couldn't be prouder of Biden, then the bar has been lowered even more.

I don't think "prouder" is the right word to describe Biden's performance. "Relieved" is more appropiate. Maybe thats why Biden is only allowed to "debate" one time. Obama was probably scared stiff that Biden would make one of his legendary "foot in the mouth" statements.

Liar Liar Romney pants on fire... Romney/Ryan believe if you keep saying lies again and again, people will believe it. Biden stopped them right on their tracks. Good job Biden.

Seems to me Ryan did not know what the heck he was even talking about. Biden kicked his butt...reminded people it was the Republicans who got us into this mess. Reminded us all, vote republican you will be worse off again. Now President Obama will finish them off.

Biden reminded me of Archie Bunker. Obama should not have been proud and Biden should have been better leash trained. First Obama's disaster and then this? As an Independent with progressive leanings, I am NOT impressed!

IIf you think Biden was rude or obnoxious, you're a wuss. It's called stopping lies in their tracks. When republicans bully it's ok, but when the Dems do it all of a sudden republicans get all sensitive. Grow some hair on your chest, this is 'Merica, no room for sissy whining here.

I am so glad that Biden is having such a good time and laughing at all these serious topics while so many ameicans suffer. What a baffoon. Outright lies on Libiya, but what do you expect from an administration that puts an election ahead of americas protection. Rock on Ryan

You folks throwing out all the Democratic malarkey wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the nose. You have been following this lying born in Kenya President for 3.5 years. If he isn't lying , why are there so many events surrounding him and his life that have no clear answers and why does he hide his college transcripts? Could he be lying about his citizen status to get student loans and getting admissions? Why did he lie about his association with his radical preacher and then disassociate himself with him after having a 15 plus years practice of going to his "GD America church?" !!

    WHO IS THE LIAR?

"I could not be prouder of him. I thought he made a very strong case. And you know I really think that his passion for making sure that the economy grows for the middle class came through so I'm really proud of him." ?

Now I know why our economy is suffering, the President thinks that Joe's passion makes the economy grow.

No Mr. President good policy and sound leadership does. No wonder we are stuck in neutral.

I think Biden did a terrific job addressing R&R's lies. R&R is what they'll be doing at the expense of the middle class if you buy into their lies. Obama/Biden 2012!!
