Poll: Nevada all tied up

(CNN) - The race between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney remains tight in the battleground of Nevada, a poll released Thursday shows.

Obama has a two-point advantage over Romney, 47% to 45%, in the Suffolk University/KSNV poll. The difference is within the poll's sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 points.

Tune to CNN for Thursday's vice presidential debate coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET on CNN TV, CNN.com and via CNN's apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Web users can become video editors with a new clip-and-share feature that allows them to share favorite debate moments on Facebook and Twitter.

Obama's advantage is eight points, 50% to 42% in the state's most populous county, Clark County, and four points (47%-43%) in the second most populous county, Washoe County. Romney, however, leads in the other 15 counties 63% to 30%, according to the survey.

The Nevada race for a U.S. Senate seat is also close: Sen. Dean Heller, the Republican, stands at 40% with Rep. Shelley Berkley, a Democrat, at 37%. The race has attracted over $13 million in spending by outside groups, according to FEC records. The conservative group Crossroads has aired a series of television ads sharply critical of Berkley.

Independent candidate David Lory VanderBeek stands at 7% in the Senate poll.

Two September, pre-debate polls of the battleground state found the presidential race there was similarly close. The CNN/ORC International survey released September 20 found the candidates three points apart, while the NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist Poll released September 28 found a two point margin.

Nevada has six electoral votes and went to Obama in 2008 and President George W. Bush in 2004.

Romney won the state's February caucuses with 50% of the vote.

The Suffolk University/KSNV poll included 500 registered voters and 452 likely voters reached by phone.

For four years the general population has seen the polished image of Obama that the Democrat controlled press authorized. For four years the general population has seen the tarnished image of Romney that the Democrat controlled press invented. During the debate the general population got to see both men as they actually are. The jury has spoken. Romney wins by a landslide. I'm just surprised the polls haven't shifted even more. Probably after tonight's debate though.

You mean Romney is not winning with all the Mormons living in Neveda. Romney and his oil friends will drive up the cost of gas in Nevada like they did in CA. for Romney to win Nevada.

  3. Morning1Su,

For all you hard workers, search your heart and find who is more compassionate toward your success. Remember what Mitt Romney said about the 47%. He is not going to help the poor, middle class, vets, single mothers, college students, latinos, If you ask me he is only going to help those who can further his success and power in the world.

Of course Biden will attack Ryan's suggested plans. What else can he do? Obama/Biden have NO plan they can articulate because everything they've done for 4 Years has resulted in disaster. Oh, excuse, me – It's everyone else's fault?

Thousands of supporters waited in line Thursday afternoon for Mitt Romney's campaign stop in Asheville's civic center, just before his running mate is scheduled to debate Vice President Joe Biden.

    Re: Nevada Foreclosures

One is don’t try and stop the foreclosure process. Let it run its course and hit the bottom, allow investors to buy homes, put renters in them, fix the homes up and let it turn around and come back up.

  9. The Honey Boo Boo Vote

@RealityBites: No one sponges more than people like you that sit around watching Honey-Boo-Boo, getting unemployment, on medicaid, using meth and food stamps in your trailer. You are one of the red staters that want government out of your life until you need federal funds.

I can't wait until tonight is over...

The Dems have had a whole week to plan how to spin Biden's loss tonight...

For those who say VP debates don't matter – this one does! It demonstrates a key Presidential decision. That BO has picked Biden and is still running with him tells me all I need to know – he can't even build a good team for himself...

Goodbye BO have a great book tour!

CNN has become a joke as far as impartiality is concerned. Dems are always "called out" by the crazies for making President Obama into a king, saint, etc. yet Romney walks on water for being a convincing bald faced liar and looking Grecian slick while doing it because the GOP owned media says so? On what freaking planet do these clowns live on? All I know is that if by some unnatural act of senselessness Satan (Romney) beats the Devil (GOP's belief of Obama when he isn't being compared to God – another LMAO sign of insanity) and does get his hand on the button for war and the decay of what is left of morality and common sense in this country that all those who put Satan in office remember that vote as they send THEIR children off to do Romney's bidding in the war that will occur before his 60 days in office can be achieved. Let the "lazy liberal" children sit this one out. And don't forget to take his 5 do nothing sons on a special plane and drop them in the middle of whatever country Satan plans on keeping in check or putting in line, i.e. Iran, Syria, Libya, as he commits the same atrocities here on home turf in his most un-American “gotcha” style. Stand behind those principles with the blood of his OWN I say since my family already gave as did thousands of others.
