Obama ad's Planned Parenthood focus

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's second campaign advertisement released Friday criticizes Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for the candidate's past comments against Planned Parenthood.

"I'll cut off funding to Planned Parenthood," Romney can be seen saying in the spot. Then, "Planned Parenthood. We're going to get rid of that."

The clips are from a February campaign appearance and a March interview, when the candidate was running for his party's nomination.

The female narrator in the ad says that "women need to know the real Mitt Romney" and makes no mention of President Barack Obama. Then the president appears onscreen and approves the ad.

The family planning organization has criticized Romney in a series of recent mail pieces, including one sent to women in Virginia with a testimonial about a woman's "deeply personal" and non-political decision to have an abortion. It highlights Romney's support for ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood and for overturning Roe v. Wade.

Polls have generally shown a gender gap between Romney and Obama, with Obama performing stronger among women.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, Obama's campaign released a spot hitting Romney over his taxes.

The spot, titled "Decision," will run in the battleground states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia, according to the Obama campaign.

CNN: so eager to get out the spin, that they fail to proofread.

The only women I can see supporting Romney are those that are in the top 1% income bracket.......any other women that vote for him are voting against their own self interest.

I don't find it strange that Racist Joe would embrace an organization that was founded as a means of ethnic purification. And Obama is just pandering as usual.

The ad says "a testimonial about a woman's "deeply personal" and non-political decision to have an abortion" then why should the government use our taxdollars to pay for a woman's abortion if her decision is Deeply Personal and a Non-Political decision???????

Abortion stays legal with Romney/Ryan and the woman and man are responsible for paying for their abortion. What's the problem?????????????

And women who vote for Obama will vote for anyone who tells them what they want to hear. I feel sorry for them. It's so "empowering" to be used by someone else for their own gain. You might want to go back and look at which party candidates supported the Suffrage movement and which party was against it.

Women are NOT making their own health decisions when they are allowing the government into their lives, when the government steps in you lose power over making your own decisions, especially when the government is paying for your health decisions.

OR, they could continue to focus on the issues that matter NOW and recognize that the GOP/Teatrolls and the two clowns they dropped off at the debates in the Malarkey Mobile are a threat to women's freedom NOW...RIGHT THIS MINUTE...because they wish nothing more than to take away a woman's right to self-determine what happens to HER body within the limitations set by Roe v. Wade.

We don't use tax money for abortions now. It's against the law. Do you're homework at someplace other than Fox News.

Murder=Intentionally taking the life of another human being. Life begins at conception..... Murder=Abortion. Is that really your right? Put the baby up for adoption if you dont want it. You may not love the baby, but someone will!

First, federal money is not paying for abortions. Until you can prove it is, you are lying. And keep in mind, if you could prove that it is, the GOP/Teatrolls would have already had huge hearings in the House by now, complete with balloons and streamers. Second, I will bet you my left arm that if Obama asks Mittens to promise what you just said on Tuesday night at the debate, to promise that he would even veto anti-abortion legislation if the GOP manages to get it to his desk, Mittens will stammer and run for the hills and refuse to make that promise...just liek Ryan refused last night to promise that things like the middle-class mortgage deduction or any other middle-class oriented tax deductions would not be touched by their alleged economic and budget plans.

It is totally ridicules that we vote to determine what is important for women. A women knows what important to her, there is no women on earth that takes lightly to situation of her pregnancy that what they are called mothers who love their child more than anything else. It is already 2012 can we just to trust women to make own decision regarding to anything and everything including abortion right?

One of Mitts main borderless supporters yesterday proved himself a 4 year-old that likes to repeatedly burn himself on hot stoves, with an inane and deflective reply-post on a serious topic. Biden won all aspects of the debate because he stuck to the facts; Ryan was just peddling the same tired old Teatard fairytales that are broadcast to the mindless by FuxNews. Like the fairytales being parroted by the rightwing about Planned Parenthood. Any average joe can see that some of the dumbest people are being used by the [R] party.

@Borderless – Pres. Obama and VP Biden are racist? Really?

Ok, so tell me what US Pres. had people showing up to the White House perimeter protesting with automatic pistols and rifles by their sides about issues? None but for Pres. Obama. How many other elected US Presidents were continually asked their entire 1st term where their real birth certificate was located? No one except Pres. Obama. What other US Presidents had pictures of a bone through their nose, wearing African tribal garb in caricature? No one except Pres. Obama. Or pictures of watermelon patches in the front lawn of the White House? None but Obama.

While running for the office of Pres., which Pres. had to hire secret service to protect them just to campaign, because they received death threats from Americans that said they didn't want a black man to be their President? Obvious Obama, because he's the first black US Pres.; however, I didn't hear of any US Pres. that had calls saying I'm going to kill you because I don't want a white US Pres.!

But Pres Obama, and VP Biden according to you are racist? The reason that there is still racism, is because of people like you who minimize what is really going on by spouting lies to avoid the truth that has occured.

I like the fact President Obama, Vice President Biden and the Democrats stand by what they believe. Even if you disagree with their position it shows strong character and not rhetoric.

average joe.....you might want to take a look at which party is actively trying to suppress votes in this election cycle, and which party wants to dump Planned Parenthood and Roe V Wade. You're reaching back almost 100 years to make a point.......what point? You do know the suffrage movement was about gaining the vote, right? Not about women suffering.......which will happen if the GOP gets their way.

Obama will offer federal grants to companies that donate to his campaign. He'll offer a memorial to Latinos to get their vote. Now he's saying he will pay for women's abortions to get their vote as well. I can almost hear him asking Bill Clinton to go out and knock a few of them up in swing states for good measure. Where's Monica from?

Planned parenthood!!! planing is done before an action not after, you can't plan to prevent food poison after eating, you do that before, so abortion is not plan parenthood. I say planning is contraception. Moreover I have never seen any woman who felt a sense of freedom!!!, haven had an abortion, it is rather guilt, A man may not understand that.

WOMEN, WAKE UP! Ryan unequivocally stated that a Romney/Ryan administration would work to repeal Roe v. Wade and that he and his running mate support abortion only in cases of rape, incest or mother's health. If Romney/Ryan are elected, a repeal is entirely possible. Here is a party that wants government to stay out of our lives but wants to tell the majority of its citizens (WOMEN) what to do with their bodies. OBAMA/BIDEN.

The Hyde Amendment specially rules out Fed Govt money to be used for abortions , and the the same with the Stupak amendment in Obamas ACA , there are exceptions in some cases for rape and incest (but the excptions are rarely used ) due to medical or physological reasons . Hard to ask a rapist to pay for tne abortion if he hasnt been caught. Romney will just be defunding ordinary and preventative health care done at planned parenthood

It is not up to Mr. Romney to get rid of Planned Parenthood. They are not a government agency. Yes, he could get Congress to cut funding but does he really want to stop the clinics throughout the United States from helping women with reproductive issues and from giving mammograms to those without insurance.

His statements are symptomatic of Mr. Romney's lack of understanding about the work of Planned Parenthood and other organizations which help those in the 47% who do not have health care. He has never gone to look at one and he certainly has not had to use their services. Surely he has had the best health insurance and so has his family. He has shown that he really does not know all that was in the MA health plan. Of course not, he did not write the plan. staffers did and then he put his okay on it. Nevertheless it is his responsibility to study these things before he speaks.
