(CNN) - The vice presidential debate "out-buzzed" Hollywood's biggest nights on Facebook, but wasn't nearly as popular as the presidential debate last week.
According to Facebook's "Talk Meter" analysis, Thursday's debate gained more momentum on Facebook than the 2012 Academy Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards, but when comparing it to three political events – the first presidential debate and both parties' political conventions – Thursday night's debate paled in comparison.

Biden's increase in buzz Thursday night may be due to the attention he garnered because of his combative style and facial expressions.
Other top terms on Facebook included Biden's memorably used words "my friend" and "malarkey," as well as the issues of abortion, jobs, military, Medicare and Libya.
The term that saw the largest percent increase from before the debate was Syria, which grew 325,900%.
The states that buzzed about the candidates the most were mostly Southern states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia. Washington, DC and Delaware, Biden's home state, also saw a lot of Facebook activity.

Vice President Biden: Typical arrogant, obnoxious, rude, clueless politician who is part of the problem for the last 40 years... Wonder why nothing gets done? Career politicians like Biden learn to talk loud, ignore the facts, lie, and talk over people...thats's what he did for 36 YEARS as a Senator, and now as VP...pathetic...
Two words: NOT. NEWS.
This is part fo the MSM distraction campaign to avoid talking about the SUBSTANCE of the debate and what was said. Rather, they just want to do a quick media blitz about "style points" and sprinkle on top some meaningless polls that have zero credibility because of sampling errors.
"Career politicians like Biden learn to talk loud, ignore the facts, lie, and talk over people...thats's what he did for 36 YEARS as a Senator, and now as VP...pathetic..."
Did you miss the FACT that Ryan is a "career politician" who has been entrenched in the House for well over a decade?
Ryan was ill prepared to defend any of his congressional "No" votes, gave little substance, but did point out he and Mittens will change social security and medicare as we know it, his tax cuts for the wealthy debt of $5 trillion, his voting against the security of our embassies, his votes against our veterans, and his 34 votes to end women's rights.
Biden won debate, repubs in spin mode...
Lyin Ryan is a typical clueless republican with no substance.
Proverbs 29:9 – When a wise person debates with a fool, the fool rages and laughs, and there's no peach and quiet.
sorry that was there's no peace and quiet.
Only a fool would support a person who has voted against America's best interests for 16 years, and now denies his attack on women, veterans, seniors, the middle class, the poor, minorities, and college students.
I have seen "real" debating in person and this was certainly not a debate from Vice President Biden... obnixous, loud, laughing, rude, ... if you state a lie loud and long enough, people will begin to believe it.... Hitler.
Biden said nothing that I would believe just from his sheer childish tantrum. All for TV showing ... While I am not sure of the facts from Mr. Ryan, I found his mannerism to be someone with strong character and not easily ruffled by the nonsense put on by Mr. Biden. Hats off to your Mr Ryan, you won this round hands down!! I don't care what the Media states.
Obama never lied!!!! You know who the liar is in this election but you want to ignore that since you blindly want to vote for Republican which at this point i can only say i don’t know why? I don’t know why you will vote for Romney if you are not rich. Because even though you sit here and defending him he won’t care about you, he never had and he never will. So if you want to make your life difficult by electing a selfish person who only care about his corporate and his corporate buddies then no one can stop you. I just hope there are enough smart people out there and vote for the man who is in the white house at the moment.
when Romeny talked over Obama and the moderator last week – you called it strength, you didn't see any arrogance and rudeness but when Biden talked with substance and strength – you call it arrogant. very shameful!
It is The Economy, Mr. President. Your Economy, Mr. President. You built that, and that's no malarky
Give it up to Biden, he won the debate, he has too much experience. The GOP wants to bring back the free fall the country was in the of the last months of 2008.
I loved that Biden had Ryan flabbergasted for the first hour. Now, GOPers arecrying "bully." Its all hilarious to me.
Biden is a disgrace. Could you really imagine this guy as president during an emergency? Could you imagine this man taking the helm during an international crisis? All he had to do was go in there and show his years of experience and he would have come out on top. Instead, he chose to make an ass out of himself. President Obama should have canned him two years ago and brought in Hillary.
Four years ago it was HOPE & CHANGE
Today it is ANGER & DIVISION
Is that the America we want?
"when Romeny talked over Obama and the moderator last week – you called it strength, you didn't see any arrogance and rudeness but when Biden talked with substance and strength – you call it arrogant. very shameful!"
Just wait for the "angry black man" narrative if Obama bothers to defend himself or correct blatant falsehoods and go on the offenseive.
I am not an American but I watched the depate twice
Biden WON – by a mile
Ryan looked like he memorized certain statments and could not react ouside of his set statements
Biden was a better thinker on his feet
memorization is good but only up to grade 8 – hopefully Ryan matures when it comes to thinking on his feet – take away his script and he is dead in the water
Republicans are such hypocrites! How can anyone say anything negative about Biden in the debate after that bullshyt Romney pulled last week???? Biden slaughtered Ryan! If someone is sitting across from you spouting lie after lie, and you know that they are blatant lies, you would react too!
And for the idiots saying Ryan was calm and collected...no he wasn't! The mofo was nervous!! He drank like 5 gallons of water in 90 minutes!!!! And he was drinking from the glass after it was empty!! If that wasn't bad nerves, I don't know what it!!!!
